Have you guys and gals every wonder why when you are down with flu, cough, fever or sore throat, when you go to clinic and have the doctor diagnose you, the doctor will then tell you what to do and what not to do, 1 of the common sentense I heard is "No fruits, no juices" How come? I thought that fruits and juices are healthy and could bring in the the needed vitamins/minerals for the body. "Drink plenty of water" Ya, I think this is also most common coming from doctors, and they prefer you drink water over juices. Any idea why?

I asked another doctor for his opinion on the general reply by the doctors in clinics that I've visited in the past. The general reply from the doctors on no fruits and no juices and drink plenty of water got generic reason. Fruits (again not all fruits) are acidic, and may cause unwanted side effect. E.g. if got sore throat, and if consume acidic fruits like lemon or oranges, the acidic fruits' juices may cause more "tearing and thinning" throat tube (something like that) and when this happened, there's higher chance of bacteria will infect the throat and cause more swelling and damage.
In fact some of the replies in this thread are also valid, like what acbc said, if heaty, no durian.
Plain water (in general) is neutral, so it will help the body to recover faster.
