Many people have different view on the heat issue, my mom even said the wall absorb heat during the day and sunset then release heat during night time :x

The heat actually don't come from the floor, ceiling or wall, it is actually from the window and whichever place that allows air, I tinted the window and now solved most of the heat issues already since my balcony is facing west and during sunset my living room get really hot

She is right though about walls absorbing heat. We call it heat capacity. As heat travels from hot area to cold area, so in the morning when the ambient temperature is colder than the wall, they absorb the heat, and at night when the ambient is colder, they release the heat.

Heat transfer through wall isn’t significant if you use clay brick. But it is considerably high if you use sand brick. Because sand brick doesn’t retain heat as much as clay brick, which means it will transfer the outside heat into your house.

And you are right too because the heat transfers the most through window (conduction & radiation) and through the air (convection). Putting tint on window is the most efficient way to reduces the heat going into your house. Choose the tint with lowest thermal conductivity. And you will save on your aircond bill too thumbup.gif
