I noted that IBKR Options table is 15mins late, what other impact should we aware of while trading options using IBKR
*
Either you pay for it or just get tiget broker for real time data.
Another alternative is open TD account. Deposit in sgd500 and you get real time data.

I mean the 15mins late in data shouldn't affect too much for options right?

By the way, anyone use the TWS from IBKR? IBKR mentioned it's real time data on TWS

There's no real time for IB unless you pay for it even on tws. You can just use market rate. But you will get lower premium but it gets filled instantly.

sure, i will, from time to time

for starters , the commission is way expensive than interactive brokers

i guess, "rejected application" like me cant be a chooser.

i triple apply tiger broker, moomoo and usmart.sg all at the same day. all three got approved.

-but main is usmart.sg because it has the best commission  of the three.
-moomoo is not rewarding.

-tiger in the long term, i got a feeling its going to be rewarding.

list of sg online us brokers:
https://www.moneysmart.sg/online-brokerage

during this kind of time, i always wondering whats the use of transferwise, if most brokers dont accept it.
*
You need to fund your interactive broker or it will never get approve. :PYou should be able to login and get account number to fund it.

Give them a call. They have a US toll free number where you can call them via Skype for free to enquire about account opening status.

If I were you, I will do the above. I will use TD over usmart if really Ibkr reject me.

QUOTE(benlaw @ May 1 2022, 10:35 AM)
hi all

can transferwise/ instarem transfer USD direct to IKBR?
or need transfer to sg bank

for withdraw i need open a SG bank cimb and withdraw there?
any better option suggest?
*
Can use TransferWise but use ACH. Don't direct rransfer.
Avoid instarem. Expensive rates.

Yes. If you want to keep your cost low you need sg bank account. If you want to keep your cost low, not needed.

Keep in mind, by using transferwise instead of banks, interactive broker will audit you about source of fund 6-8 months down the road. You need to give them all the statement they asked (bank statement, transferwise receipt). Failing to give the statement will cause interactive broker to close your account.

I prefer to get approved then funding it, than funding it, then waiting to be approved

Its kinda make me feel that my money is taken hostage. Not only me, a few peoples at reddit/interactivebrokers also have the same opinion as me, and have voiced their concerns.

i dont want to feel like my money is being taken hostage. if i fund it first, then it get rejected, then i must wait for them using their own sweet time to refund back... god knows how long the refund process will be....
*
If you never fund it, it will never get approved for infinity tongue.gif
That's how IB works.

Just give them sgd100.

QUOTE(john123x @ May 2 2022, 04:14 PM)
guys, i got a enquiry.

can a CASH account sell cash covered put option?
can a CASH account sell covered call option?

the reason is because i got a reply from interactive brokers. i did informed  that i need option trading capabilities.
here is an quote from the email that i received
the reason i ask here because:
1. they didnt state anything about options
2. i am worried about their restriction on selling options  (whether cash account can sell cash covered put option and sell covered call option?)
3. their reply is slow
*
Yes. But you need the cash required to pay for 100 shares as collateral and it will be frozen until the options expired worthless or you buy back to close.

Not sure if you can get use cash as collateral for covered calls. The idea of covered call is you have 100 shares to back it up.

i apprentice your advice.

by the way, your signature's quote is very enlightening....
*
Just get a margin account from ibkr. It's cheap and you don't need to have so much cash lockup.
If things are on sale, you can do covered puts and continue to buy your favourite shares and don't get charged for margin provided your cash balance is still positive.

If you are using cash account, your cash is lock up and you cannot buy your favourite stock when they are on sale as it's lock up in a covere put.

This is a strategy taught to me by my teacher when I was a pure cash guy. Make sense the way he explained it.

Just make sure to control it and don't go crazy selling puts.

Hello, the answer is yes and no.

If you refer to the onshore Taiwan listed (TWSE) stocks then no, IBKR only offers securities services for exchanges listed in here: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=1562

The answer is yes if you broaded the scope to ADRs. A few Taiwanese companies like TSMC and UMC have ADRs listed on NYSE, and you can therefore purchase a stake in the company via the ADRs.

The same thing with Korean stock, e.g. Samsung's GDR in LSE (but the stock price is rather large in denomination).
*
You do know that LSE trade in pence and not pound right?
Hence it's only GBP12.74 or GBp1274 tongue.gif

You can buy puts in etf sp500 or qqq which is basically the market.
Or you can just sell the sp500 or qqq.

Your choice.

Ya it some sense yes. Like STI...

This might interest you.

https://www.ft.com/content/2b40824f-69c6-47...13-a544fc1a00d7

As for share sell down, it might be because of poor outlook. Usually the dividends etc. are already priced in earlier on, maybe 1 month to a few weeks or even earlier.

Sometimes it could be short-term over-reaction too.

Thet have better companies than STI. STI is a joke.

Are forumers here still funding IBKR despite the strong USD in preparation for some good bargain? Been holding back for a month but missing out on some good buy
*
Of course. Why should I not fund it? Things are on discount now. Miscotsoft hits 250 5his week alone.Nvidia dips to 15x range.

I am buying when I see deals regardles of how is the USD. Better for me to hold USD Vs RM anytime. Dont bother about currency if your goal is at least 10 years.
It have been proven with SGD Vs USD. What more RM Vs USD.

Random question about Swiss stocks, for the lack of such a thread....

Any thoughts on LOGI? Just noticed Logitech stock dipped from high 100+ to recent 56ish without big news that I could find... Wondering if I missed any red flags or it's a good buy

They are like corsair. People done with stay at home. Not buying new pc etc.

It's stealing Netflix lunch. So Disney would be a better buy over Netflix.
