generally speaking, it's sad but the reality is the quality and professionalism of our bank officers here totally failed.
they may be able to answer questions related to common tasks, anything more, your guess is likely as good as them, because they also simply shoot without knowing for sure.

too many occasions they gave my opposite/misleading info of what stated in their product descriptions and/or T&C. bangwall.gif rclxub.gif

FX rate is higher than fintech of course, but i don't see other way to bringing back fund from IBKR to malaysia. At least with FCA I can hold USD until the rate favors me.

TT fees from Malaysia to US is RM45 per transaction. And then US will charge additional fees when receive the fund too. But all in should be less then RM100. According to Relationship manager

TT fee is only RM10, for my case..

and a further USD25 fee when it reached there.. this USD25 alone is already more than ur mentioned RM100 tongue.gif

wonder anyone ever tried to withdraw from ibkr directly to ur m'sia bank account? say USD to MYR

tried to withdraw to my mbb account but required corresponding bank info before allow to proceed.. basically its not enough to just input ur bank details (name, account number, swift code, etc).. anyone encountered this hiccup before?
*
i think the correspondent bank code you looking for is "CITIUS33"
do double check with MBB before transfer, later $$$ missing don't blame us smile.gif

P.S SGD withdrawal to SG bank do no need correspondent bank, just search and select then will get the funds in about a week time.

I just want to buy hold some ETFs and trade some FAANG stocks. Nothing fancy like futures etc.

for the benefit of others, if you not looking for the most cost efficient way to trade US stocks, but rather a simple and easier method to buy once in a few months or so to hold for long term, no need so troublesome.

local broker can also buy US stock, like CGS CIMB for example.

now let's back to IBKR related topics smile.gif

Actually I got it already, it is actually located on the top right of the application form. But now, how to transfer the SGD1000 to the CIMB SG account? I do not have any SG bank accounts, can I send TT using any local banks?

QUOTE(echoesian @ Sep 15 2020, 01:23 PM)
Thanks, I have just applied for the account online and the instruction says transfer SGD1000 to the account in order to activate it. But I do not know what is my account number to transfer to

bro, im actually enquiring about the correspondent bank info.. not the charges ya

apparently, it seems like only required if u're withdrawing from ibkr to m'sia bank.. not if u withdraw to sg bank
thanks much for the info.. will sure check with mbb first

it seems like u've successfully navigated with that code before?
*
no. but ur question prompted me to search, and found after 5 mins or so.

how much is the subscription fee for real time?
if i sign up ibkr through TSG what is their commission fees?
*
why don't you spend some time to do the homework by reading in IBKR /TSG website?
in fact it has been discussed in this thread before, you may just use the search and use some time to disgust them.

if you are looking for quick answer, IBKR / TSG is just a phone call away.

Guys, this is a noob question, but are commissions different for market buys vs limit buys on TSG? Below screenshots are referred:

https://i.imgur.com/KIDw9Vt.png
Market buy SAWD 100 units. Total estimated cost: 611.

https://i.imgur.com/0XLgzNw.png
Limit buy SAWD 100 units @ 5.88. Total estimated cost: 589.91

Does market buy in TSG/IBKR not buy based on the lowest selling price?
*
the keyword is estimated base on your order, the actual execution will be base on lowest selling price.
also some exchanges have different fees between adding and removing liquidity.

But they specifically say the money must be transferred via FAST (means must be from SG source?)

2 ways.
1. Send money via sg banks using FAST (Default way)
2. Send money first time using CIMB MY (a loophole I guessed?)

Haven't personally done it before.
Quite sure you need minimum number of units.
IB may also have a lock in period. Meaning you can't sell until certain date.
*
i recall seeing can sell anytime in their website before.

Hi lowyaters! Important question here. I know previous post talked about tax but I’m still friggin confused.

So I understand that we dont get taxed for stocks held over a year on US stocks . But what about if youre daytrading on US stocks I get taxed?

If so, how do I go about paying the tax?
And how much percent?
Do I only pay when I withdraw to my Malaysian account?

Sry for the newb ques on tax cuz Im still a student haha. Thanks in advance!
*
hello student, this is not the school, and we are not your teachers / lecturers, hence u should really do your own homework.

Short answer: non taxable from US on capital gain from day trade.

anyone tried using RHB invest to buy foreign stocks? my remisier says fee for selling is 0.42% same as local rate, but I am guessing they will charge higher exchange rate, any experience with them?
*
never use before, cant comment on exchange rate.
but the comm is killing, if i buy $10k worth of stock with IBKR, my commission probably just about $2, whereby RHB would be $42 base on what you wrote. 21 times higher already, its not worth if u got more than few trades a month even if they give u inter bank exchange rate.

Any idea why the difference?

do a search for more info...

QUOTE(Solskjaer66 @ Oct 20 2020, 06:26 PM)
i got this reply from Tradestation:
This means that you are holding a IB account with another entity, and this is not possible to link to TSG. The only entity available to link is IB UK.
If you want to you can open a new account via TSG without mentioning the IB account you are holding. You will have to go through the process again, but once open you can do a internal transfer to send the funds and assets you have in the former IB account to the new TSG/IB account.

so that is fine.... just have to close my IBKR Pro and open new account with Tradestation
Bt the way, about the trading fees........ it will cost us min $1.5 to buy then another $1.5 to sell right? i have just checked my transaction record in my eToro....my trading records:

June: 6 buy 0 sell
Jul: 3 buy 5 sell
Aug: 8 buy 7 sell
Sep: 7 buy 12 sell

if each transaction cost 1.5...... i think staying with IBKR pro doesn't really cost more to me.... am i right?
