Dear Sifu,
My Honda City idsi 2004 model steering feels quite tight and sometimes "lock" in highway over a curve. I will not say it is entirely "lock", but more like you need some force to turn the steering back. Change suspension, disc brake and not sure what else I can do. Send to few mechanics and they did not know the issues. Tyre also change. The feeling is not as smooth as my other cars. Anyone got ideas on what is going on?

Hmm.. Check all suspension parts, jack car up and move tires at 9 and 3, and 12 and 6 to check for any worn parts. Or bring to reputable mechanic to check suspension parts. And does ur model use electric or hydraulic steering?

I bring it up to mechanic on my suspicions on this but he told me if really this issue, then you will feel it will be totally very hard to turn

Having same issue on my jazz idsi, it occurs occasionally at higher speed.
Tried moving my steering up and down and it is gone, suspecting something to do with the part that connects the steering and the motor.

Or you recently added accessories to the car ? I suspect probably EPS issue if everything else ok (e.g fuse, tires, suspension parts, bushing)

Recently change suspension, tyres and brake plate, but issue still persist

Modern cars nowadays, this would normally be the 1st thing you do. If the EPS has an issue there may be a error code, but it wasn't serious enough to trigger the EPS light.

Been to 3 mechanics for this issue, but none of them connect any device, more like "drive and feel". The car from 2004 have the board for connection? Previously my 2010 Mvi got ABS lights up, then my mechanic connect to scan tool. But for Honda city, he did not do so. Wonder he miss out or there is no place to connect

I used to have a 2005 City and currently own a 2005 Civic, and they both have OBD II ports. 2004 model year should have it... just look under the steering column. It should look like an extremely oversize VGA port.

If your car equip with EPS than the culprit is Alternator or battery... For 2004 car my bet more on Alternator coz to old & couldn't support the current when it need.. If you stay in KL just pay a visit at this shop & ask pomen to repair & service your alternator.. Price not more than RM200.. One more, no point wasting time on scanning just for error code coz EPS (weak alternator & battery) wont trigger any code. today send to VMAG as one of the bro recommend. Suspect the culprit is the steering rack, which the recon will cost RM 800++ and need a day to repair. The boss said many Honda face this issue.

Or they all checked and think it is fine?

Or they all checked and think it is fine? Not sure, but Google on the answers for problems on Honda - got many articles points towards the steering rack problems. The thing is whether it is worth the price to change. After all, I got target to get another used car (about 3-4 years old) car by next year. Currently looking at Aruz and BR-V.
