yeah... that guy is just trying to fish customers to his workshop... Each time I view new posts, I always see his threads. Now that's annoying.

What about timers? Just like how users must wait for a specific amount of time before posting his/her 2nd post.

I suggest for BUMPs in Garage Sales we implement a 60 secs rule. That way:
- the seller/buyer will need to prioritize his/her thread (for BUMPs) and at the same time,
- it'll help control them creating multiple threads (might as well cramp relevant things inside one single thread instead of creating multiple unnecessary threads cuz they can only BUMP one thread per minute).

Pardon my broken English. notworthy.gif

I think this seller can open only 1 thread... just name it as "All kind of bodykit" or something like that...

But in the end, its still remain the same. Single seller with multiple threads.

I don't think so because judging by the high activity in Garage Sales section, it gives other people a chance to BUMP within the 1 minute break.

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=Atta...=post&id=258321

As you can see, alexchin BUMP-ed 10 threads in less than 2 minutes. If the 1-minute break rule is enforced, it'll get him AT LEAST 10-11 minutes to BUMP 10 threads. And judging by the activity in Garage Sales section, it can do good for other sellers with one/two threads only.

Perhaps the outcome will be like this:

alexchin
aaa
bbb
ccc
alexchin
ddd
eee
fff
ggg
hhh
iii
alexchin
jjj

Hence, a wise way for alexchin to get them all up is to merge relevant products into as less threads as possible.

Hmm, might work, might not work. Just a suggestion. Comments, please?

i still prefer merge into few threads... at least the thread based on brand such as Proton Body Kit, Perodua Body Kit , Toyota Body Kit , Kia Body Kit, Honda Body Kit, etc
if Wira Body Kit, Waja Body Kit, Savvy Body Kit, Tiara Body Kit, Juara Body Kit, Gen2 Body Kit, Saga Body Kit, Perdana Body Kit, Arena Body Kit... (wei, still haven't include other car brand's models into...) rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

otherwise create another sub sub-forum under "Automotive Garage" named "Body Kit Garage"...

good example such as moderno thread... all the bulk order graphic card in a thread only... look informative and neat...

this has also started with one seller in the Bulk Orders Section....

different items...but most of the items are of the same brand (Zalman / Gigabyte)...ie

1 thread for zalman hdd cooler
1 thread for zalman northbridge heatsink
1 thread for zalman gc cooler
1 thread for zalman hdd cooler
as well as a few others if i remember correctly..and got same thing happening with another brand as well.. all from that same, one seller.

and just like Garage Sales, bump everything one shot...its really an eyesore and an annoyance as in my case it makes it harder to browse there and i do that often (a few times a day). doh.gif

i understand that something is being done...but i do hope its done soon biggrin.gif

at least other bulkers like moderno or ngbh has multiple threads but for completely different items/ brands. where they group them together...ie ALL zalman 1 thread, ALL coolermaster 1 thread etc etc.

Attached Image

my personal opinion, if this sort of thing happens...the mods should just lock up all their threads with a note..something like "MULTIPLE THREADS FOR SIMILAR ITEMS/ BRANDS...PLS MERGE THEM INTO 1 THREAD" etc... and NOT merge the threads for them...

let them reopen a new thread and should let them do all their work themselves again just to merge their threads. shakehead.gif

To divide the threads based on bradn, still wont solve the problem. How many brands exist in Malaysia? I'm sure u knew it well. So just make it as bodykit, ice, rims, etc.

Here's what I'll do.

In the next 2 days, I will PM those people I know of hogging the trade zone and tell them to merge and group similar items within 72 hours. After which the enforcers and moderators can go about merging threads as they wish and see fit.

If you know of anyone hogging the trade zone, please PM me their nicks now.

Just head to garage sales and you will see many people created multiple threads.
Why not just merge all together and put it under the same category or if it's so hard, name it ' My Garage Sale '.
What is the purpose of Title's description?

Example someone posted :-
  • Toshiba LCD TV
    • Cheap and affordable
  • Sony LCD TV
    • Cheapest in town
  • LG LCD TV
    • Cheap and nice
  • Panasonic LCD TV
    • Cheaper than market price

The title's description serve one purpose to them only. To attracts customer.
Why not name it ' LCD TV Sales ' & under title's description should be ' Toshiba, Sony, LG, Panasonic, etc '.

I guess 2-3 posts in each sub-forum is more than enough.
IF more than that, then the person is just here for trading/running business only.

what makes it worse is, no one is interested in what he's selling
and, some more, the items being sold are qualified enough to be 'thrown away'
a good example is here

p.s: no offense, it's only my opinion

OK, I've added some code that spreads a person's topics by at least 30 minutes between each topic (within the same subforum). Hopefully this helps keep things fairer for awhile.

The effect of it is as if a person is sitting at his desk hitting the bump button 30 minutes apart for each of his topics. It shouldn't affect casual traders, and as for heavy traders with many topics.. we'll see how they adapt smile.gif

i think that's fair enough for them
hopefully this can train them not to hog the trade zone by themselves
and thus, making them to start practicing to create minimal threads

my suggestion is, they should create online shop, so that they can display all of the items they wanna sell, rather that listing all of the items available in shop, here

and, good job to our admins and mods notworthy.gif

1 question wKkay, what the data size difference between a post and a thread? Is it true that opening up a thread takes more space?

EDIT: btw, good job in keeping the forum nice to browse. notworthy.gif
