I've seen a whole bunch of Android box with 3k+ movies channel etc. All I need right now is a COMPLETELY LEGAL Android Box with NO PIRACY CHANNELS or NO 3K+/10K+ CHANNELS/MOVIES ETC. It's extremely difficult to find legal one. Can someone help me?

You basically could buy the box from GB which is usually comes very "clean" meaning without those 3rd party add on unlike those found in shopee or lzd here.

https://www.gearbest.com/s905x2-_gear/c_12313/?odr=hot

But then it'll be great if you could browse thru as per Avfan to find out more what is your expectation from this box

It has always been my understanding that

- SIRIM is giving certification of electrical safety and compatibility to Malaysia electricity distribution system.
In short, SIRIM is Checking whether the power adapter is safe and compatible or not.

- MCMC primarily checks the wireless connectivity in electronic devices.
In short, they certify the WiFi and Bluetooth is good and operates within the spectrum allowed.

I know these two Agencies does a lot more certification, but if you scrutinized the certificate that is paraded by the so called "legitimate" Android TV box - we will most likely find that the certification are as described above.

If cross check on MCMC site and see what other products falls within the same certification, we will then see a very general lists of telecommunications and mobile phones of other companies.

I did my own research on this, seeing that the "Tx3 mini expert" who was suppose write up about this didn't login anymore to Lowyat.

I asked around the resellers, and understand the loophole used to "con"/scam unsuspecting buyers.

The certification costs around RM15-25k, and valid for 5 years.
With this certification, they can parade that Android box anywhere in Malaysia for sale in that 5 years. They target places like shopping mall and hypermarket, and openly sell their goods under the pretext of MCMC legitimacy.

Then the word "lifetime" subscription and "pay only once" is marketed to the hilt. Most if not all, employs the business structure operated successfully by EVp** and UnB**** that has been in this business for 5 years or more.

However, don't be fooled, there has been cases of locals trying to imitate these two 'Tw/Hk' business structure and couldn't lasts 18 months, most notably 'Infinite' TV box recently.

Legally wise, you are paying RM399 to RM799 for the hardware and 1 year subscription to a "useless" IPTV app which shows all free to view channels anyway, as in the case of L**g TV.

If you don't get your Axtro channels, the company has no obligation to you. You can walk into their premise with your lawyer, and they will say " see you in court". They will then say, the box left their premise "clean", the box was either jailbreak to install illegal unauthorized content during the reseller's handling or during the end user's intervention. Then they will then say, they will "black list" the reseller and post it on their website for show.

The black list serves two purposes, one as described above and one to discourage resellers to sell below recommended retail price. Whatever it is, it is purely just a show.

MCMC has only been giving statements. Every 2-3 months, they will release a customary statement, and make refences to old cases of confiscation or charges in court.

The word NATO comes to head, No Action All Talk.

Somehow I think all these press statement is to show their political masters that they are doing something to address the issue of piracy. So the government can relay to the owners of the media content.

Let's see if MCMC will catch some BIG FISHES anytime soon and not release statement every few months on issues that everyone in the industry knows too well what is happening.

Lot of them are selling the boxes under pretense of MCMC certified, thus potential buyers see them as legal.. where in fact, the content is totally illegal.. some sellers go up to the extent that they have JV with astr0, so that's why their box are all mcmc certified, and just pay 1 time to watch astr0.. if u thing logically, how come the original content provider charges monthly, but the copycat just charge 1 time payment and claimed that they are legal? I also wonder, all the latest movies, very high to pay royalty.. even netflix does not show too recent movies.. yet some of these iptv providers claimed that they are legal..

I could understand why retailers and those part timers would say things that are not the truth. They are after all just working, albeit not honestly, but still an honest day's work selling TV boxes. I enquired and these part timers hinted, they could get commission ranging from RM80 to RM95 if they could sell a RM399 box.

By saying that their TV box has a lifetime Joint venture with Asyeruk, the whole story ties together with no loose ends for doubts.

But sincerely, the losers are the general public who are naive and thought they will be getting lifetime support as long as the box is working.

And then there are those who understands the risks and well informed of the risks and still buys into it, already calculated that if the box runs for more than 3 years then they get their money's worth.

However, low end boxes normally never lasts till the third year, hardware wise and Android version wise. Furthermore, after the first year - some will notice erratic streaming experience. It is not accidental that the server suddenly lags, it is designed as such - so as to utilized the server to give the best customer experience to the high priority customers.

Think of Internet Service Providers and their "Best effort" jargon in their terms and conditions of yesteryears.

If I am the one designing the system, I would even program a kill switch into the boxes. After 5 years and the box is still running and consuming my server bandwidth - it is sayonara. Ha ha ha, Just my mind going into over drive. How to program a kill switch? Fry the CPU by disabling all Android safety features and run some high intense loop program.

Astro will pay you good money if you can convince the government to ban all physical and online sales of TV boxes in Malaysia.

At least, government is doing something on misuse of MCMC/SIRIM name,, but without changes to the law, it is tough to crack down on illegal copyright content in these boxes, unless this happens in China like the recent crack down of illegal IPTV sellers within China & HK. As I have written above, the boxes leave the premise clean - then only at the hands of resellers or users , there are guides to install the copyright stuff.

Singapore to table new law

The law suggested will also forbid generic boxes to be sold with ads like 10,000 movies and World wide TV.

QUOTE
It will also be illegal to sell a generic device with "add-on" services - such as supplying website links or subscription services to pirated content.

NVidia Shield TV. If get from Amazon confirm only officially sanctioned apps like Netflix, Prime Video and Youtube, etc. Not sure if locally sold stock are the same since they're technically AP as NVidia won't sell Shield officially in Malaysia tho. Ask reseller before buying.
