Can't wait to watch "Between Two Ferns" (out already) and "El Camino"

Currently watching from the beginning, "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" biggrin.gif (watched it as a kid).

A lot to recommend, "Mindhunter", "The Bodyguard", "Breaking Bad" comes to mind... I think Netflix's algorithm for recommendation is quite good. So far the recommendations to me has been really decent.

I think going to Netflix US is a bit overkill to me, Netflix Malaysia already have too many things to watch (and so many I stopped watching mid-way saying I'll continue watching later lol).

Last good Netflix film I watched was "I Am Mother" (8/10 to me) and "Murder Mystery" (7/10), "Triple Frontier" also decent.

The overhyped film "Bird Box" was absolute bird poop. Not worth watching. For horror "The Ritual" comes to mind as one of my absolute favorites - stellar cast, creepy woods and a decent ending.

Still holding out on El Camino... Want to watch it on a long weekend

This and Between: Two Ferns 😋

Wonder if the critically acclaimed The Irishman will make it to our Netflix.

Watched El Camino recently...

If you are a fan of Breaking Bad, this is the closure / epilogue you wouldn't want to miss.

Heck it even feels like a TV episode but with a more cinematic approach.

Love the cameos ESPECIALLY, you-know-who (I almost lost it when I saw that). rclxm9.gif

Thrilling, exhilarating, on-the-edge-of-your-seat stuff Breaking Bad is known for with some stellar acting performances.

Highly recommended.

Truly a gift for Breaking Bad fans.

Watched Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines on Netflix - - not bad but not sure can recommended if you haven't seen T1/T2.

The last I watched many years ago I didn't really like it but after a recent marathon of T1, T2 and then T3, not bad at all... fits the plot line really well.

T4 Salvation - - maybe it's just me, but I kinda like the whole warfare with the machines. Plot wise it may stink but the CG holds up well and the action sequences are decent. Going from T3 -> T4 is quite a difference in stylization.

Will watch T5 Genisys - - can't remember much of this film maybe because it was that forgettable, will watch it later.

I thought... "Hmm... another Christmas film."

I heard it was about the origins of Santa. Riiiight... like it hasn't been done before (maybe lol).

Surprise. Surprise.

This was AN ABSOLUTE GEM.

At first I was like sure... the character Jesper being thrown into such a location Smeerensburg and that's when things got interesting laugh.gif

What has been happening in this town is almost a metaphor / symbolism of what is happening in the world today.

Long story short, to put it simply, the 'stories' about Santa - - from mailing your letters, the good/naughty list, the use of reindeers, Santa's sleigh flying through the night sky, Santa's ability to go down the chimney, coal in the socks if you're bad, the toys and how/why they're made - - ALL of this was shown in its origin. biggrin.gif Unexpectedly well done too, not thrown in your face. You have to pick it up yourself which makes it all more special . You'll be going "Ohhh.... so that's how the story got around about <so> and <so>.."

Good effective use of music too, with some contemporary tracks thrown in. The song "Invisible" by Zara Larsson was quite good.

The ending was really satisfying, emotional and endearing. Santa himself is presented as this lumbering beast (see the film to see his backstory).

Really well done with amazing voice acting and not sure if this was 2D or 3D but the animation was on par with Disney tongue.gif

Props to the writers to come up with such a brilliant story.

Highly recommended for the whole family.

One of the best Christmas films I have seen.

Watched this 3-part documentary series - - absolutely gripping to the last moment.

Was looking for a good 'mystery/weird unsolved case' on Netflix... a day later this pops up tongue.gif

It is about the infamous "1 Lunatic, 1 Ice Pick killer". sweat.gif

The subject of the series is brutal and not for the faint of heart, though the cat killing/murder video is never shown in full.

The story of the cat killer can really be made into a movie because some of the things that occurred are just hard to believe. A wild goose chase around the world from two sides - netizens & the law.

Definitely one of the best Netflix produced content of the year.

What a movie. Adam Sandler nailed his role. It was a thrilling ride from start to finish IMO. I was absolutely rooting for his character Howard. The last part of the movie
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

and that was THE most memorable part of the movie (and so it should be). That basketball sequence at the end was edge-of-your-seat experience. I'm not sure how others felt about this, but Adam Sandler should have been nominated for at least a Golden Globe. There were some genuine unexpected comedy moments like The Weeknd (lol at him asking for a blacklight at the club and getting into a fight) and the whole Kevin Garnett and his obsession with the stone biggrin.gif I just found that oddly funny.

I loved it. Easily a 4.5/5.

Watch this the day it was released awhile back, here's my take on it;

Fan of Taylor Swift? This is an absolute must watch. Having been a follower/fan since her debut album, this documentary is a journey from her beginnings to her epic 2019 album.

You will see and hear what you probably never thought possible from her point of view (her political stand, reasoning for her 1 year absence from the spotlight, crazy fandom, the awards, her insecurities, parents support, and the origin of some of her recent songs). You will get to see how she felt away from the media after the whole Kanye fiasco. Though I've been a long time fan of hers, I don't keep tabs on her relationship stats but here, it was touched upon and was quite poignant to see how she dealt with the criticism (which culminates to her current status as private).

I think this has to be one of the best documentaries I've seen, and it never felt 'boring' or 'bland'. It's a constant revelation. At the end what I took away from this, is that for someone as huge of an artist like her, she seem to be the same person growing up albeit with a name that will forever be etched in the music industry.

9.5/10

This made me want to watch her Reputation Stadium Tour again with a different perspective.

Top 10 shows in Malaysia mostly K-Drama, figures tongue.gif

Currently watching the documentary "Night on Earth" - - wild life at night but with the use of new cameras, able to see animals at night as if it were day.

This was very boring for me I didn't finish it only prolly 1/3 thru! A few had also said its only a handful who can appreciate such a slow movie!

I really enjoyed it. A little surprised by the reception of audiences lol. I loved the dynamics between the two leads, seeing 'an actor playing an actor within a film' is always refreshing what more one played by Leo. The whole washed up Rick Dalton character (which obviously takes a page from Steve McQueen) was really well done. Throw in Brad Pitt's character who is always charming, always 'I-know-I'm-better-than-you' charisma really drove the film IMO. I loved the bits at the ranch, quite nerve racking; considering this is a Quentin Tarantino film, anything can happen at any second and I was on the edge of my seat. tongue.gif

The ending (no spoilers) was really intense and it is Tarantino signing off with his usual 'shoot em' up' over-the-top violence which was a pleasant twist.

Straight to the point movie

Straight to the point eh? Well, if you watch it as it is then sure.

For me, the number of allegories and metaphors to modern day 'government/politics' is amazing...

Hard to explain without spoilers but you can think of it as "Higher levels -> More greed -> The lower levels -> Less they get" akin to how the world today works; the rich becoming richer while the poor becoming poorer. I can go on and on, perhaps another time. tongue.gif

Still watching "Money Heist" season 1... there's already a Season 4? Wow. This show is so raw yet grounded in reality (as in each scenario can occur in the real world).

Heard a lot about "Tiger King" (the most watched TV show on Netflix apparently according to recent ratings), so this should be a good watch.

"Project Power" is 'just average' in my opinion... honestly they could have taken it to a whole other level but didn't. Only towards the end (no spoilers) we see something big unleashed. That's it.

Jamie Foxx did a decent job but it seem like he didn't really give it his all / wasn't interested in the role hmm.gif I think JGL was much more into it.

This + "Bird Box" are quite underwhelming, the latter being marketed like a full cinema release.

"Bloodshot" sorry to say, I stopped watching around half way and not interested to continue. tongue.gif
