The Proton X70 was purchased by the Ministry of Defence of Malaysia for use by the Malaysian Armed Forces, specifically for high-ranking army officers.
Proton has once again become a government car. Not only the Toyota Camry serves as the official car for the Chief Minister or the Panglima Tentera Darat.
Proton launched the 2022 Proton X70 which features a few styling updates and also a new powertrain option. The C-segment SUV now comes with a 1.5L TGDi, turbocharged direct injection petrol engine, presenting a new compact alternative to the familiar 1.8L TGDi engine.
The 1.5L TGDi engine achieves a max power output of 177 PS and a maximum torque of 255 Nm, hitting its peak earlier at 1500 rpm. In comparison to the 1.8L TGDi engine, there is a 7% reduction in fuel consumption on the urban cycle.
Customers also have the option to select the AWD variant, equipped with real-time intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, which automatically transfers torque to rear wheels based on demand, thus improving handling according to varying road conditions.
The 1.5L TGDi engines are built at Tanjung Malim,Perak at a new production line which according to Proton, meets the strict quality standards required for one of the most advanced locally assembled engines in Malaysia.
The Proton X70 was officially launched in Malaysia on December 12, 2018 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
In the launch ceremony, then-prime minister Mahathir Mohamad presents the first X70 key to his wife Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali during the launch, a tribute to the original Proton Saga launch as the first Proton vehicle.

| ZA - ZD | Tentera Darat | Army vehicles |
| ZL | Navy | Navy vehicles |
| ZU | Air Force | Air Force vehicles |
| Reserve | Malaysia Car | Reserve vehicles |
Among the Z-plate vehicles, Z1 stands is at the top of the table of seniority.
It is a number plate assigned for Panglima ATM (Chief of Defence Force).
Staff officers subordinate to PATM typically receive staff cars with a single Z letter, with the level of seniority denoted by the number that follows the Z prefix – the smaller the number, the more senior the officer.

Allied to the single letter Z-plate is the ZZ-series. This double letter prefix is typically seen on vehicles assigned to Kementarian Pertahanan (KEMENTAH, Malaysian Ministry of Defence), almost all of which are civilian models from a bewildering array of suppliers.

Vehicles assigned to the Tentera Darat (Malaysian Army), Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM, Royal Malaysian Navy) and Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM, Royal Malaysian Air Force) are assigned double letter prefixes as follows:
ZA, ZB, ZC and ZD: Tentera Darat, with ZC apparently the latest series for army vehicles.
ZL: For TLDM vehicles, with the letter “L” indicating Laut (Sea).
ZU: For TUDM vehicles. The letter “U” in this instance indicates Udara (Air)

Certainly, if each car plate series has 9999 numbers, we can calculate the total number of registered cars between "JTQ 4665" and "JWK 754" using the following steps:
Calculate the number of plates in each series:
Since each series has 9999 numbers, there are a total of 9999 - 4665 + 1 = 5335 numbers in the "JTQ" series, and 754 numbers in the "JWK" series.
Calculate the number of plates between "JTQ" and "JWK":
There are 24 letters (from "U" to "Z") between "JTQ" and "JUA", each with 9999 numbers. So, the total for this part is 24 * 9999.
For the "JUA" to "JWK" series, there are 10 letters (from "A" to "J") with 9999 numbers each, so the total for this part is 10 * 9999.
Add up the totals:
Total = 70 * 9999
Let's calculate:
70*9999 = 699,930
The total number of registered cars in the state of Johor, Malaysia, from 2019 to August 2023,
between the car plate numbers "JTQ 4665" and "JWK 754," is 699,930.

Wilayah New Vehicle Registration numbers after WYY 9999 will start with W1A onwards until W9999Y and then WA1A.
PUTRAJAYA: In the impending expiry of the WYY series, the new vehicle registration plates would start with W1A and end with W9999A (see chart above), said acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
Hishammuddin said on Thursday that the current format, which would end with WYY9999, was expected to end in July.

KUALA LUMPUR: A new prefix of registration number — "F" and "V" — will be assigned for Putrajaya and Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur vehicles in June and July respectively.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Aziz Kaprawi told theSun that the "F" prefix was selected for the administrative capital after receiving request from Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) recently.
"'F' means Federal. Starting June 1, 'F' will be the new Putrajaya's number plate," he said, adding that a tender bidding notice for golden number (one digit) will be issued by Road Transport Department (RTD) towards end of this month.
"For Kuala Lumpur, RTD will introduce 'V' probably after Hari Raya as the new series, to make it easier for public and encourage car owners to bid for golden number, fancy numbers (two digit) and popular numbers (four digit)," he added.
The current sequence for KL with prefix, algorithm and alphabet, was rolled out with "W 1 A" in Sept 2013 after the previous generation of prefix ended.
Interestingly, Aziz said, public was more comfortable with the previous simple prefix and number sequence of 1 to 9999 unlike the current prefix.
"This is based on massive decline in bidding for the current KL number plate sequence. So I hope with 'V', it will get people excited" he pointed out.
RTD director-general Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad said the "V" prefix for KL will replace the current prefix which will be retired in stages beginning mid July.
Commenting on Putrajaya's new prefix, Aziz said "F" was chosen despite PPj suggestion for 'Putrajaya', to be followed by algorithm and ends with an alphabet.
"The suggestion was complicated because it will be too long to fit in the number plate and so 'F' is the best option," he explained.
Besides, he said, "F" and "V" are yet to be utilised as number plate prefixes in the country.
As of today, the latest registration number for KL was WC 3974 V.
With the new prefix for Putrajaya, Aziz expects bidding frenzy for "F 1" registration plate.
The deputy minister said: "In the UK, a Yorkshire businessman declined an offer of 6 million pound sterling (RM34.7 million) two years ago to buy the 'F 1' registration plate which he purchased at 440,000 pound sterling (RM2.5 million) as registration number for his Bugatti Veyron in 2008."
"I think many Ferrari owners will be queuing up to bid for the single alphabet of 'F' (number plate)," said Aziz in a jest.
Meanwhile, RTD will announce the opening date of tender for "F 1" next week.
"We will open the bidding tender probably for two weeks plus another two-week process for the special committee to finalise the bidding," said Ismail.
The highest prices of bidding for number plates ever recorded in RTD history were RM520,000 for "WWW 1" and RM748,000 for "W 1 N" by Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar in 2012 and 2014 respectively.
