hi s500 owners! got my hands on this phone today and it's great!
the slide, to me, is ok, not that bad as i thot when i read here previously.
the buttons may be fragile, but i cant see how it can be broken. hopefully it does stay the same. the look is awesome, but some sad comment is that there is no pause button on the side of the phone, and no radio.. sad.gif
overall very satisfied with this phone.. well price will well drop over the weeks but i got it now and that's all i want. smile.gif

Congratulation, mate. Welcome to S500i. I bought it last week and I had used for around ten days BUT today I realized one of the keypad had cracked. My goodness, I donno it's resulted because of me or my friends using it because this phone was just simply so cool until wherever I go, it attracts people (which it's a bad thing and everybody wants to test it). It's magnet to fingerprint and now I have a new hobby (polishing my phone before I go out). LOL. Just be careful using it, mate. LOL. The keypads are really fragile too be honest. What can I say is S500i is for artistic people. Really a nice, cool phone and the phone's specifications are pretty okay and I really love the everlasting theme so much. Just simply amazing.

Look what somebody posted on gsmarena board.

Broke key issue is recognized officially by SE in Germany. The reason was a chemical reaction between the keypad-resin and the green paint. So only the green S500i built before W(eek)27 are affected. You can check the "construction date" by taking out the battery and check the sticker on your mobile device.

Well.. if its true then it could be good news for future s500 buyers.. and its also mentioned that the yellow version doesn't have broken keypad problems.

Good news to me, I can get this phone when I have enough money then. No need to worry about the fragile keypad.

Sony Ericsson keypad problem solved

Remember the S500 keypad cracking problem I posted about a while back? Well, this problem has been officially recognized by Sony Ericsson. Their official explanation (from SE Germany) is that there is a chemical reaction between the green paint and the keypad material (plastic). This causes the keys to be easily broken. This is why the yellow version of the phone is not affected (no green paint). The issue is being resolved by SE. Also, apparently the affected S500's are made before week 27.

JAMP
so most of the crack problem from green color unit?

Not necessary S500. just select 320x240 resolution (eg: W850/K800) will do.

The flash theme compatible with all flash enable phone such as W850 and etc.
The menu icons can only be changed using mod method which I believe can't be done at this very moments.
