QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Mar 25 2022, 01:33 PM) https://www.ft.com/content/f0225140-a424-4a...27-a90170b1d215 Wow .our big China bull now feeling despondent.Moving forward i feel china is really uninvestable, not because of their business capability but rather geopolitics. When two main economies clashes for the top spot, unless an apparent winner is form and the other gave way voluntarily this will probably be an unending cycle. I will be keeping my position on alibaba and tencent, but i dont think their valuation will go anywhere anytime soon as they are stuck between US and China. Edit: china domestic company still investable but those with global ambition and looking for foreign capital, that will probably always be a china vs US/global mode for the time being. Indication that market is bottom? 😆 Btw via ETFs I have exposure to HK H shares, Mainland A shares n US listed China ADRs I have been increasing my exposure for past few months Now nearly 10% of portfolio. QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Mar 28 2022, 09:02 PM) although i hold a lot of china tech, im just giving my fair assessment. Cannot be bias or blinded. I hope we have seen market lows this month. I think the China economy has also bottomed in Q1 and there should be a rebound from 2Q.if someone were to come in and ask about wanting the best gain for 2022 or 2023 i would advice against china tech. But as for me im already knee deep, and im not selling any of my holdings, still got many good things like hk connects, loose china monetary policy, asia digitalization, international expansion going for these china tech. But downside also equally alot. If today i dont hold china tech, i also have no idea where to deploy my capital. Baba up 50% from the lows of March. I think quite easy to hit 100%, which is HKD150. Basically, don't need these China techs to reach all time highs to make decent returns. Downside risk is escalation of this Ukr conflict to include China. |

QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Mar 29 2022, 06:32 PM) But at this 110 - 180 range, unless relation with US fundamentally change, if one had spare capital better to use the money to buy beaten up US tech like Intel, Palantir, or even META for better result. But let's wait u til end of the year and see which will get better results from this levels. I also see a lot of headwinds for US equities..tightening monetary and fiscal situation, slowing growth, high inflation..things which China experienced last year! QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Mar 30 2022, 07:59 PM) Yeah it is, i think i have been sitting for a pretty long time U were too early n position too big. That's what I think.Only did i enter during the China sell down, and i only bought China cause it has pretty good value. Apart from that i have been doing nothing since Oct last year apart from bargain hunting on meta during feb and gambling on cryptos This post has been edited by Cubalagi: Mar 31 2022, 08:30 AM |

QUOTE(The Nomad @ Apr 8 2022, 04:42 PM) Not necessary. My Vietnam ETF did not suffer any serious pullback since I bought it in 2021. The Vietnamese are tough cookies ... Vietnam is considered a "frontier" market, unlike China an "emerging" market. The level of foreign institution investment in Vietnam stock market is still at relatively low level.I have Vietnam exposure via 2804.HK ETF. It's down about 6% YTD, which is about the same as S&P500. This post has been edited by Cubalagi: Apr 8 2022, 10:54 PM |

QUOTE(ChAOoz @ May 27 2022, 01:16 AM) Thanks for compiling all the link in one spot as always. Things are looking up, with CCP govt taking the economic problems more urgently. We are already seeing interest rate cuts and tax cuts. Hopefully stimulus will be ramped up further.Result was not that great but due to super low expectation, and cloud segment finally turning a profit, market seemed satisfied with the result. Still i feel Alibaba has too many loss making business segment, their direct to retail model is another new segment that is eating their margin, not sure how to really feel from it. Growth from international commerce is still too slow as well. Need to compare SEA limited growth to have a good benchmark on whether external environment such as Ukraine/Russia conflict and China covid lockdown is the real reason for the slow growth as stated. |

No one cares about HK/China anymore? 😂
March seemed to be the low and the market has been trending upwards (not in a straightline tho). My fav China benchmark, the HSCE index is up 24% since the mid March lows. |

QUOTE(sgh @ Jun 8 2022, 04:49 PM) As for Chinese stocks in US exchanges yes that is why since I enter US exchanges I never hold a single China stock I also very scared suka suka delist. But I think in US suka suka still need some official process not like today announce tomorrow suspend trading and delist? Hmmm.... They just did it for Russian stocks cross listed in US and European exchanges. Even worse, they block interest payments of Russian bonds payable to International investors (incl US investors), even when Russia is able and willing to pay.All govts can do nasty things to ppl.
