Im using a 27" 1440p 165 Hz Gsync monitor and I can tell you unless you are running a 2080 super/2080ti you can never touch 144fps on modern AAA titles, heck not even all modern games can reach the max 144/165hz on 1440p because it is super demanding.
To answer your question, the monitor is an investment, you need higher graphic card spec to reach high refresh rate gaming. However, if you are playing CS:GO/PUBG/APEX/DOOM/FORTNITE then the 1440p max frame rate can be achieved easier by lowering some eye candy since these FPS titles doesn't demand as much as other AAA titles.
If you just want a high refresh rate gaming on 1080p then your CPU also matters too. 24"1080p 144hz TN panel should be more reasonable within your PC spec now. If you go into 1440p 144Hz I am afraid you gotta invest more into your entire PC hardware for the eye popping candy.

Thx, guess I'll go with 1080p for the moment. Not too keen on ultra details as long as smooth using mid-high settings is fine. Can get 60-70fps on 1080p is good enough for me. If going for 1440p guess the cpu, gpu and ram all gotta change.

580 can't run 1440p 60.
1080p should got around 80 to 90.
on newer games of course.
so depends on what you want to upgrade in the future.
might need a 2070s for 1440 144hz.
i suggest looking at the physical model at acer store before buying.
acer sometimes uses cheap and shitty ips.
Thx, guess 1440p mayb too much for 580 despite AMD market it as a 1440p card. 1080p should be the sweet spot.
Any suggestion besides Acer?
