Cons: Wash out screen color (compare to today standard).. processor fast enough for 4K youtube/social media but not 3D rendering work.. Overall am happy for it's price.. becoz I bought it 2nd hand with 18 mth warranty for RM1500 ![]() |

QUOTE(yingchai @ May 2 2020, 01:49 PM) Hi, am looking for a decent Thinkpad laptop for normal surfing purpose and presentation purpose. Wait a while more for 7nm Ryzen....4000 series....Saw that AMD Ryzen is cheaper that Intel core. Seems AMD Ryzen quite tempting. Are there any heat issues in AMD? I am considering to get the AMD Ryzen variant. |

QUOTE(minizian @ Oct 19 2020, 05:59 PM) I am looking got Thinkpad for photo process and regular use. Not into gaming too. Prefered Ryzen too. Only saw T series have AMD but not P series Just an 2 cents observation.... the 4000H series are the ones that shine in performance and yet no Thinkpads/similar models this year uses it... except the Legion 5 gaming (it looses it built quality being all plastic, but otherwise should be great for application processes will being less than half of a P-series...)Any recommendation within thinkpad Range or better off in another brand. It's possible that only next year's 5k series APU will be in better options... This post has been edited by BeastX: Oct 20 2020, 08:46 AM |

QUOTE(minizian @ Oct 20 2020, 10:13 AM) Ah, screen wise is considered okay for Photo/Video editing with regards to Legion 5 as usually i read that gaming laptop screen have diff spec compare to those that were focused toward photo/video edit A 4800H (vs 4800U) that allows the APU to trubo-up to 72-74W... (on most multi-threaded apps) gains up to 50% more performance (4800U limited to 45W)< the APU performance boost due to cooling performance of the Legion 5...So the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U that were on T14 were not as umph as say 4000H series? Just further check that I dont really need the P series power since I only run photo edit program and not running any rendering stuff which P series was for hence i narrowed it down to the T14 (not T14's series) with Ryzen 4750U. Thinking of replacing my 13 year old laptop that was keep alive due to the use of SSD and max 4gb is just bare minimum for today apps Can you recommend any retailer that have showcase of Thinkpad model where I can have good look at it? I only know the one in PJ Digital Mall which also have its online store where most of the thinkpad listed was sold out other than the entry level's one. Also, I just realized the newer thinkpad were not of the yesteryears thinkpads (T440/480 series) where things are easy to replace and there is no fix battery like current year model Edit: 4800H vs 4750U:....very similar with 4800U Legion 5 has the option for 100% sRGB panel at 144Hz fresh rate (3-5ms pixel speeds), good enough colour accuracy.... and a choice of dGPUs (1650/1650Ti/1660Ti/2060) will crush graphical/video works (even if you don't game)... Personally, among all the thinkpads...the L15 is a good choice if it has a good panel option (for Malaysia, 300nits 100%sRGB NOT available)... Replacing battery on the curent Thinkpad/Legion is just a 5 minute job... This post has been edited by BeastX: Oct 21 2020, 04:25 AM |

QUOTE(Mixxomon @ Feb 5 2021, 05:25 PM) Is it worth waiting for the next gen Ryzen 5000 series? Most Lenovo laptops with usb-c ports.... pass-through DP 1.4 signal as well, get a usb-c to DP adapter... and add a DP with MST hub (pic below) and you can display up to three 4k@60Hz displays from a single port...I'm looking for a professional laptop for work needs. Mostly excel but I do work in large excel files and work with 3 monitor simultaneously. If not I'll just settle with the current gen T14 Ryzen. Budget 5.5k Any laptops with dGPU will off-load work-load/RAM from Ryzen's APU.... ![]() This post has been edited by BeastX: Mar 24 2021, 10:11 AM |

QUOTE(ducklord @ Oct 26 2021, 07:18 PM) Yes. I have tried disable AMD vari bright, etc. For your troubles you may only get at RM20 (panel cost difference) rebate... Both the 250/300 nits panel are poor quality panels....I questioned Lenovo about the panel given as online has reviewed that the said panel only support brightness of 250 nits. However, Lenovo insists that it is a 300 nits panel unless I can prove the brightness value with some professional meters. They may have mis-labled the part-list in your case .... Personal opinion:...as long as there are no dead pixels the panel should serve it's function, the 50 nits here is not a big enough deal, and it's within the cross-variability brightness between panel types. Example: The 250 maybe hitting 275...and the 300 maybe hitting only 280... This post has been edited by BeastX: Oct 28 2021, 07:14 AM langstrasse and ZM Fong liked this post

QUOTE(pgsiemkia @ May 31 2022, 11:29 AM) Yoga 530 user here. Been using Lenovo Thinkpads since 2016 when worked in a new company after leaving HP. Lenovo/IBM still the best for quality and long lasting. Bought the 530 during covid for personal use and still using, no issues with heating and screen usage, chose this as it had a separate graphics (Nvidia GEForce) card and touchscreen. Bought 2 more Lenovos for my kids to do online class as expect the laptops to last longer than HP or Dell. Thinkpads and Thinkbooks goes through specific more robust engineering and testing inherited from IBM Japan.... the rest of the Lenovo line however are a hit and miss.... Now using HP for work as new company has it issued and now even less than a year can hear the fan buzzing after 1 hour of working..heard from other colleagues the HP laptops fail after a year instead of the obligatory 3 years, quality so bad now, HP? Business lines from both Lenovo and HP are designed to be more robust and have a higher degree of serviceability.... but both brands also produces shitty laptops... So conclusion: Brand is less of a determination factor for the quality and lasting of the laptop products.... and laptop have a short yearly cycle, so long term usage is unknown and every new purchase is essentially a roll of the dice.
