I used to bring my hamsters travelling in the LRT and express bus (KL<->Ipoh).
I put them in a plastic aquarium and put the aquarium in a big paper bag and carry it with me. It is quite convenient and my hamsters are very quiet so nobody actually notice it. They go with me when I am staying over at my aunt's place or if I am going back to my hometown. |

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Aug 9 2007, 01:00 AM) Choke chain is like a rope with 2 rings at the end. There are metal ones as well as those made from nylon. You must remember that a choke chain must be put on correctly, if not it will cause injury to your dog. It should be shape like a "P". You can refer to this article: correct way to put a choke chain What my trainer teaches me is almost what you are doing now. When the dog pull away from you, don't pull the leash. Just walk to the opposite direction and the force from the choke chain will shock the dog. After a few times, to avoid the shock and pain (?), the dog will follow your direction. This is the hard way. There is another way taught by the trainer, but usually only effective for food oriented doggies. You can hold a treat in your hand and placed it on the left side of your body near the waist. Your dog will smell the treat and look up to you. Try walking and the dog will usually follow you. Walk for a short while, if the dog follow let him nibble at the treat. You can try practice walking longer and longer distance before rewarding the dog. It slowlys become a habit. This one takes time and patience. Hope this help! |

QUOTE(fujkenasai @ Aug 9 2007, 01:34 PM) Shushu is a GR. Though he is a GR, he is as stubborn as a rottie so he is not so easy to train. I am still trying my best with him I bring him to obedience class once a week. Those tips are given by the trainers there. In fact, how to put a choke chain on the dog is actually the first lesson learnt. |

QUOTE(chibi_tenko @ Aug 15 2007, 02:43 PM) Anyway, Chelsea is my house's designated underwear snatcher. Others don't grab underwater. Socks maybe, depending on their mood but Chelsea... huh. She always go for bras if she can. She'll stuff the stolen underwear into her mouth until it becomes a big ball and then start wagging her tail like siao. This is so funny, I want to see...... Sometimes if we didn't notice, she'll walk in front of us and do a wiggly dance with her body and lompat lompat around. Everytime she do that, we will know she have something in her mouth lo. |

LOL Yah, I also bring my GR to grooming before CNY to be leng leng Toy dogs wear costumes look cute. Last time I saw a pug wearing a bee suit. DANG CUTE WOR!!!!!!!! QUOTE(babymiki @ Aug 20 2007, 09:48 AM) oh that one. I have one Question on the first 3 jabs for puppies. Not very sure on vaccination, can't help you there. I went to this Dr Teoh, he said if Meeko is on the low dosage program (brands like pfizer, fort dodge, etc) the puppy need to take a total of 4 jabs. Even she started with 6in1, followed by 7in1. Where else there's this high dosage program called MEdimal or something, only need 3 jabs. Any idea? Shushu only got 3 jabs....i think it is 7-in-1(merial) for 2nd and 3rd jab. The first one is done by another vet and if not mistaken is for parvo only(pfizer). |

QUOTE(angelgurl_nee @ Aug 20 2007, 10:24 AM) You can stop them or bring some doggy treats and ask them to offer that to your dog if they want to feed him.QUOTE(chibi_tenko @ Aug 20 2007, 10:34 AM) I'll bring them to groomer about 1 mth before CNY and then will buy some fragrant shampoo for them and groom them myself before CNY. They will definitely hike up the price during CNY one. Wah, luckily my place there no price hiking wor...still same charge but they don't accept anymore once the quota is full. But this year.... Aiii can't bring my furkids balik kampung. My cousins gave birth so if I bring the dogs, they will give me early eye one. Cham lor, then your furkids got people to take care or not? |

For dogs that like to bite, they will put a muzzle on it while grooming. I saw this last sat while waiting for my dog to finish its grooming session.don dare 2 think 1st duh..might ask my bro 2 pay 4 Cocoha's. i'm afraid Cocoha might bite da groomer as he bites everyone he sees. even ppl trying 2 play wif him, he bite till ppl don dare go near him.. headache.. |

QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Aug 20 2007, 02:29 PM) Actually, the groomer uses their own muzzle that day.One of my dog book has a illustration on how to make a makeshift muzzle. Unfortunately, I don't have any scanner at home. This is the best I can find from a website---> muzzle (please scroll down at the bottom, there is an instruction on how to do it) hope this helps! |

QUOTE(angelgurl_nee @ Aug 20 2007, 02:47 PM) ooh my...the instructions looks very complicating la..haha coz i jus cant get it straight of which knot goes where la... Erm, that's the best I can get at the moment. Basically you take a piece of bandage/cloth, from below the muzzle pull the two end up and tie a knot on top of the muzzle. Then, pull the 2 end down and tie another knot below. Then, pull the two end horizontally towards behind the head and tie a knot there. Hope it is clearer instead of making it more |

Erm, I have some question to ask on food for my dog.
I am thinking of preparing homecooked food for my dog, not all the time but maybe a few days a week, so he will still get his daily kibbles. Usually, I will boil chicken meat with some vegetables like carrot, celery, brocolli and potatoes, about 50-50. Sometimes, I also gave him a hard boiled egg. I am not feeding him raw (BARF). Is this meal ok/complete enough for him? Should I also add some yogurt or other supplements? Someone recommended me to add flaxseed oil to boost his immune system. Any advice / suggestions? Thanks! |

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Aug 22 2007, 11:29 PM) You should include some internal organs..... pigs heart and chicken liver are great supplements to a meal. Of course you just put a bit, not the whole pigs heart since the hear is quite big. But you can use chicken hearts as well. You can include half a clove of garlic into the food. Thanks for the advice. Flaxseed oil is a great source of Vitamin E, helps with the skin and also promotes a good heart. Give the coat a shine too after taking it for some time. Never add salt or sugar or any other seasonings to home cooked food. Boiled eggs are good. As for the vegetables, it is better not to cook them for it cooks away the nutrients. If you still insist on cooking the vegies, then you should only dip them in boiling water for 20 seconds.... never over cook. It is also better to blend everything in a blender till it becomes a puree as it helps with adsorption of the nutrients. If you still feed kibbles to your dog, then there is no need for vitamin supplements as too much vitamins can cause more damage to a dog. You can give 1 spoon of yogurt into your dog's meal. It promotes a good gut but too much can cause diarrhea. I will add the internal organs into the menu. I do add a little bit of garlic into the chicken sometimes, but no sugar or salt added. Will try the vegetable puree also. Originally I only feed kibbles to my dog , with Vit C and E daily (prescribed by vet). However, he still fall really sick (twice). During the last sickness, he couldn't take any kibbles /can food at all so I end up cooking for him to get him eating. He has now recovered and I started feeding him kibbles again. I am just wondering that maybe adding some fresh food to his meal may help him to boost up his immune system a bit. I do notice that during the period of feeding him fresh food, he poo much lesser. |

here is another article, with the banned product picture.
website Don't think it is the one you mentioned I don't really give my dog jerky strip. I got a free one before from an online survey but feels that there is too much colouring in it, the whole thing is bright red!! |
