Rejoining the Ah Lian club after such a long time....

Have already migrated from the Akasa Eclipse62 to .... PC-A05B tongue.gif

Downsizing ... boh pien.

Some thoughts about the PC-A05B

Pros:
- Sexy giler
- Good cooling for CPU. Running my Ultra 120 fanless now
- Relatively cheap
- Very quiet after swapping the stock fans with Scythe S-Flex

Cons:
- The side panel is really ridiculously thin. I think 0.8mm alu. Lian Li these days really cost down sad.gif
- Gets pretty toasty for the VGA
*
gee.....now im wondering 2 things....

1/ When is ur Eclipse 62 coming back to KL with u??
2/ Best price how much ???

biggrin.gif

the G7 is out of stock if im not mistaken....been out of stock for quite awhile.

if i were u id pick up the PC-A07 like gmails case. similar to G7 only the front design different. internals look exactly the same to me. or can also get the 007 which i think has a better intake flow than the G7 or A07 due to the exra holes on the front.

the A05.....to me, it may look alright (just alright, dont really fancy it) but it has one of the most ridiculous thermal designs in a case ive seen.

reading that quickie from the old man just reminds me how imperfect lian lis are.

really dont understand why they make ALMOST perfect cases but never a perfect case.

actually im kinda glad they put the A10 in that price range..

i wouldnt say its affordable, but the price is still considered not that bad.. especially since its still below the 4digit mark.

its a damn good case with hell of alot of potential. get it to BTX style and fuiyoh! drool.gif i just wished they made a version without a door doh.gif

and yeah...the HDD cage IS stupid. but i can understand why though...utilizing the space. at least can still fit somemore HDDs instead of just the horizontal cage. i think if they push the wall back to make the 2nd cage horizontal, they have no space for the PSU(s) cables to roam around down there.

other than all the holes and the LED jotting out...its not bad.

@sniper69
since u have the case, i was wondering do u think its possible to mod the case to BTX style? easy or not?

Added on August 28, 2007, 1:24 pmabout the vertical drive bay, one thing im sure of...its bad for airflow. if there are HDDs in those cages confirm the HDDs will be blocking airflow from the front fan to the PSU

@sniper on the roof
i think it makes good business sense to make minute differences in the same price range. itll tailor to alot of people's taste.... basically something for everybody. but thats interms of sales la...in terms of manufacturing costs, me dunno.

if making the A10 involes just drilling out the rails and riveting it to the other side, then i guess it aint THAT hard like the TJ09 (i remember uglyvamp doing it on the TJ09 and he said it was hell)

all i need to do is just throw the case to ianho (or bombman if i was in penang) and im sure it can be done with precision.

IF i decide to buy the case, the only problem i can see now, is buying the case itself....i have to go through TWO financial controllers sweat.gif that and also the door is a real turn off for me.

but one thing though.... if i get the case, ill turn it to BTX style and the top fan will be turned into top exhaust blowhole). and together with that side patent cooling kit...itll be superb to exhaust all the hot air from my 2x8800s. the SLI bridge area is friggin hot. just put ur hand in that area and u can feel how hot the air is there without even touching anything.

also the top 3 5.25" bays will be used to fit a 120mm intake fan to supply the GC fans with cool air....aaaaahhh...this would be real good for cooling them 8800s drool.gif

and i think ur refering to sniper about making the case longer. i think the dimensions of the case is just fine for me.

Added on August 28, 2007, 1:53 pmoh yeah

@sniper69
can the door be mounted the other way?? i mean at stock it opens to the left right? can it be mounted to open to the right?

OI! OI!! CURI IDEA!!! ROYALTY MUST PAY!!! laugh.gif

actually not too worried about the LEDs and the lock hole. i dont really look at them anyway laugh.gif

one more thing that just occured to me... by doing the BTX style mod, the HDD cage no need to mod like u did sniper69. automatically the hdd cables will be on the hidden side laugh.gif

ive never been a fan of any case that has a door. transparent or not.

find it leceh to xs the roms. worst if u wanna turn on the PC. have to open the door doh.gif if theres a power button ON the door or outside of the door then not so bad la...can still accept ...alittle bit.

but thats just me being anal tongue.gif

The A10 is a lil bit too small for Flagship. They kinda copied the TJ07 but then made everything smaller. It shud be bigger with nice thick side panels. Then it'll be good to go as a Flagship case.

About the BTX style mod, it's similar to what I do for the TJ07. Just that it's more messy with the A10 coz of the rear lock thingy at teh back. About madman not liking the switch behind the door, jsut mod a new switch under the bottom of the case lar, apa susah? laugh.gif Then nonid to open door for booting up.
*
hmm.gif so the BTX Style mod IS possible for the A10 eh? interesting....

sniper69....watcha waiting for man??

now i wish my wallet was thick enough to have picked up the A10 during the offer laugh.gif

When u seen the TJ-09 or TJ-10 ... it's absolutely beautiful without doubts...

fullly polished aluminum looks with it's thick panel...

almost the perfect case I've seen so far ...
*
supernb build quality yes....

but like u said...almost perfect... ALMOST being the key word sad.gif

TJ07:
rear 90mm fans?? doh.gif
and that mesh HDD cage....

TJ09:
superb cooling but DUST!!! shocking.gif
ive been eyeing the case for so long...read so many reviews...look at all the pictures...but i just cant think of a way to filter out the dust in a way itll be easy to clean. especially since i have to clean off my dust filter every 3-4 days. even 7 days the thing will be clogged doh.gif

one of the closest to perfect case ive found would be the Chenbro Gaming Bomb II but even then it has its flaws that just cant be overlooked...like the weird mobo standoff...

but i think the one that comes closed to perfect is the A10 with BTX style mod. and some other mods that i have in mind as well...but of course still have flaws like the door....

sheesh!!! i really need to stop being anal laugh.gif

@madman
yeah for tj07 the rear 9cm fan using for intake fan laugh.gif since there no intake fan inside it..i also maintain it as intake fan cz its blow near to proc even i oredi make front intake fan with mesh thumbup.gif
*
eh??? if ur talking about me grabbing snipers A10....no thanks...its silver whistling.gif lucky this forum doesnt have the puke emoticon....no offence yah sniper69 lol

wat rear fan u using?? not noisy ah??? somehow i cant stand anything below 12cm man..even my top 8cm blowhole oso (CM silent) i run it at 7v biggrin.gif

the higher the voltage the the faster the fan speed the louder the noise...

the lower the voltage the lower the fan speed the lower the noise...

fan cables typically got 2... + & -... theres theres also the RPM la...but thats a different thing...not involved...

then ur typical molex got 4... yellow (12v) black (ground) x2 and red (5v)

for 12v: + into yellow and - into black.
for 5v: + into red and - into black.
for 7v: + into yellow and - into red.

still considers quite ok not that bad............

hehe may be we should start a thread name the truth behind the casing.. or may be x files of cacing

btw TJ09 dust problem will not be very serious, fan filters can do their job perfectly and not too difficult to clean from they it's place........ my Stacker arm with 5 intakes and 2 exhaust (all 120mm fan) dust still manageble..... i clean it like once a month only with tissue wipe hehe......

btw seriously the floor vacuum feature have to be solve if u placing ur casing on the floor......
*
in my room....it would be hell.....almost zero ventilation...dust accumulation is mad wink.gif

i guess for people who has shitloads of HDDs would find the case ideal...perhaps for a file server or something...other than that, i dont see a reason why that case should exist. its fugly and none of the features attract me...i also find none of the features actually useable. that case doesnt even come close to meeting my criterias for a case.

also, whats up with the removable mobo tray??? those kinda mobo trays are the most ridiculous ive seen. might as well make it NOT removable. a removable mobo ttray to me should be the kind that slides out the back...like the a10 and the tj09/07 doh.gif

IMO, removable mobo tray and slidable mobo tray is different terms icon_idea.gif... to some people, it'll be the same tongue.gif... anyway... i love the slidable mobo tray feature by A10, that's one of good reason why i bought the A10... it's slidable icon_idea.gif

anyway... after replacing the stock LianLi fan, i found that the temperature "really" drop... well i think it's also because of the rain la... tongue.gif...

*
actuallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy............... of all the sites ive gone to...review sites, manufacturer's site etc etc etc....

ive found that only lian li uses the term "slidable" mobo tray. no other sites uses the term "slidable". everywhere else is "removable"....for BOTH types of mobo trays...
