I was suprised there is guitar for left handed ppl. But it is great news anyway.I though gonna train using right handed guitar. FYI, i am left handed but not a big problem anyway since need to use both hand. I was trying to emulate myself playing right handed guitar and it seem it is not really hard. But i doubt can find left handed guitar in msia. What do you guys and girls think? Do you ever come across ppl that play with left- handed guitar? Oh ya this the link that i found the left handed model http://www.theguitarstore.com.my/index.php...ory=103,limit=0This post has been edited by nightzstar: Jun 30 2007, 02:14 PM

Do you find it hard to play it on a right handed guitar?

Two is One and One is None.

im left handed also but playing righty. its much easier, since your dominant hand is fretting. picking is always easier to learn than fretting anyway.

i suggest playing a right handed guitar because it is easier to find and cheaper too. after all, when you start learning, you don't know how to play at all and you don't have any knowledge on either hands on the guitar so learning from scratch would be ok. and its also a bit of an advantage that your left hand is strong, kinda like how a lefty playing drums has an advantage when playing double pedals because his 2nd pedal is already very strong. or you could go the hendrix way, get a right handed guitar and flip it over

^Haha, i was about to say the Hendrix thing! You beat me to it by 2 minutes...LOL
But to the TS, there are cheap lefthanded SX guitars also, seen a few people use them. Not so sure where you can get the though.

Im left handed but I play right handed guitar, because back then I was a noob and didnt know that there's left handed guitars. I think I would have chosen a left handed guitar if I knew better back then..Im not sure if it stunts your playing capabilities, cos I've read some stuff about this. Either way, cant turn back now.

Don't get me wrong as I totally agree with you but I'm can't find the reason for left hand guitars. Any advantage for left handers?

Any advantage for left handers? cos of ppl's mentality, and partly cos of ppl thinking hendrix used a left handed guitar when he wasnt one really. yea its a slight misconception that hendrix is a lefty. sure he played a left handed guitar, BUT he wrote right handed as well as did quite a number of stuff right handed. so guessing as his dominant hand is right, could probably explain why he could do so many weird chords and running rhythms. so right handers should actually be using left handed guitars This post has been edited by Everdying: Jul 1 2007, 12:19 AM

Jimi hendrix is leftie? Didn't know that. I really admire Jimi. He must gone through a hard way train using right handed guitar. But anyway it will not deter me from learning playing guitar although i am left-handed dominant. Btw, all of ur replies stimulate my spirit to learn guitar lol. TS, since you knew there is a left-handed guitar available, go ahead and use it.
Not just guitarist, most of the musicians I met who are left-handed but they play right-handed instruments.
Just to add, if you're a left-handed, just use left-handed things.

i think playing a righthanded guitar if you're left handed is more advantageous, same for drums because your less-dominant hand will have to do a lot of training compared to your dominant hand(or foot) so in the end you are actually stronger in both hands or feet

Afterall, the decision it's yours. (to the TS).

I am left handed as well and I play guitar right handed (just like a majority of the players here). And I highly suggest going with Sweet Tooth's suggestion, I'm really thankful I started out this way because left handed guitars are truly hard to find! Imagine yourself dreaming over your dream guitar, but it's only available in the standard right handed model...NOOO!!!! (goodbye Caparison Horus) Not only that, if you learn how to play right handed, you can share instruments with your mates easily. Or (touchwood) your guitar string breaks onstage while gigging, you need to borrow a backup guitar (if you don't already have one), chances are they won't be any left handed instruments for you. Think of all the perks!

Moral of the story: "Learn to play right-handed guitar, because not everywhere you go will there be a left-handed one." ...might as well say the same thing about heavy gauges too right?

i once taught a lefty to play guitar...he insisted on using his left hand to do the strumming, so what i did was fixing the strings upside down... i've met a lot of lefty playing righty...i dont think it is a problem, whether you are playing righty or lefty as long as you can play... just have fun playing music is the point of learning music~IMO...
