Before you jump into any antidepressant pill, take a look at how this medicine affects your life - https://www.webmd.com/depression/features/a...ssant-effects#2

You may try out meditation as an alternative. Check out meditation like mindfulness, vipassana, and etc and follow their courses.
Just my 2 cents

Depression is pretty common nowadays. Lets say patient visit the normal GP clinic. Does clinic has anti-depressant or anxiety medicine?

There are various types of medications used to treat depression. The main categories are Antidepressants, sedatives / tranquilizers, antipsychotics. Here is a long list of approved drugs: https://www.webmd.com/depression/guide/depr...antidepressants.
In addition, my friend suffered from depression and sometimes used male amplifiers. Specifically - the Hammer of Thor capsul. But there are others. They contain steroids and hormones that give a short-term tonic effect. But this is a very dangerous thing.
Remember that pills for depression should be prescribed by a doctor!

Hi,

Antidepressants can be bought at pharmacies (with prescription of course.)

There are different types of antidepressants - some makes you sleepy and some does the complete opposite.

The choice depends on your condition:

If you have trouble sleeping at night, you should get the sleepy ones.

If you don't have energy to do anything in the daytime, you should get the non-sleepy ones. They are a bit like caffeine, they makes you more alert and at the same time improve your mood.

The sleepy ones are older antidepressants and are much cheaper.

Antipsychotics are not typically used to treat depression unless you have other symptoms associated with your depression. Almost all antipsychotics cause drowsiness.

Before you go on antidepressants, you might want to consider these supplements:

Most evidence-based:
1.) SAMe (S-adenosylmethionine) - unfortunately I don't know where to get this in Malaysia. You can probably try online?
2.) Vitamin D
3.) Zinc
4.) St John's Wort

Others with less evidence to support:
1.) Ashwaganda
2.) Rhodiola rosea
3.) EPA (found in fish oil or omega-3 supplement)
4.) N-Acetylcysteine

Please note: Some of these supplements should not be taken together with antidepressants (SAMe & St John's Wort) so please consult a medical professional before starting any supplements.

If you want to research on supplements, you can refer Examine.com.

Hope this reply is helpful.

Yes, puddy dogs can be therapeutic. Also workout helps a lot. If you are fit enough, CrossFit will be great because it also provides community. Being social is always good for mood change.

yes they do.. well should do.. its a common affliction so GPs have to know how to diagnose, score and treat it. Major Depressive Disorders, Depression with Persecution, Resistant Depression and some other forms tho, are in the realm of the Psychiatrists
