Wow this is rare. I missed WoD for when ally and horde has good leader at both side in Ashran. I missed Ashran, it is really a nice weekend activity.
I can farm conquest and honor for every alt and play the special ability only available in Ashran, sneak out from enemy base after got jailed by pally, dark sim with dk and cast chaos bolt, 1 shot enemy healer with hurricane strike, jump torpedo, 1 shot enemy with aimshot > Chimaera Shot > killshot

i never played WoW. Do i need to buy current WoW to play classic?
How much for the base game and monthly sub?

No need to buy the game. Just subscription USD14.99/ month to play the game.
I am also new to vanilla WOW, very slow leveling but fun old school game.
Currently you can test out the game if you have sub, will be reset once they do official launch.

I just have this feeling that it won't live up to its hype. People may get bored of it within a month because of how long it takes to achieve anything (level, craft, raid , etc). Maybe this model would have worked 15 years ago when it was launched but now it seems obsolete. I hope to be proved wrong though, my best memories of WoW was from Vanilla.

We'll see. But playing along with the hype where everyone start at same point, you get to meet people in everywhere, every new flight path is a check point is very fun. "yeah I have made it there"

But I do sense elitist attitude from vanilla/classic player in a few classic fb group I joined. People don't seems to tolerate anything and they so hate retail.

They need a mobile version then it can probably stay alive

Hard to say for WoW classic. The Oceanic servers are located at Amsterdam. Retail Oceanic servers are located in Singapore.

Yikes, that means the ping must be quite high then? maybe 1 sec of input lag at least ?

Sorry bro absolutely no idea. I am just crossing my fingers that they are going to move the servers back to Singapore at launch.

Hey, I'll be playing on US realm, Whitemane PVP as NE Priest.

I also am afraid of the potential latency issues due to server location and lack of population in the oceanic realm hence, choosing US realm this time.

Thinking of coming back to play since it's vanilla WoW. Love and miss those 40 man raids of MC, BWL and AQ. Just gotta find the time.

Thanks for the feedback. If Oceanic servers, I believe they are hosted in Singapore if I am not mistaken. 100-250ms is not bad, should be showing green most of the time.

I probably gonna try and play a carefree healer in this classic (first timer). So I probably gonna choose pve server ,any suggestion for alliance healer ? I will probably be farming herbs or materials .

Holy Priest is like the best choice for healer in a pve environment whether its 5man or raids. 'Renew" aka HoTs ftw.
Making pots via herbing/gathering saves/makes alotta gold.

its a total lagfest at the starting zones & peeps crowding around quest givers. Hmmm its like 2004 all over again, brings back

None, you don't lost exp, you won't lost gear.
only all your equiped gear durability lost 10%. Repair them.cost gold.
If you die, and choose to ask the spirit healer in the graveyard for a rez, you will res on the spot and all your gear include the ones in your bag lost 10%(?) durability. And you will get a debuff call rez sickness (its reduce a percentage of all your stat for a short period of time.

without VPN, the normal ping in oceanic server is how much?

i tot u can play classic as long u have a valid subscription.

I dont have subscription for now, unsure if it is worth the hype to join back.
Starter account is the free trial account that can freely lvl to 20 and have some restrictions, it can access the non-classic servers.

No sub = no classic
Starter is f2p till lvl 20 on retail servers only

Restrictions

With the Starter Edition you can:

Create new characters
World of Warcraft Classic characters are not accessible on Starter Edition accounts
Level any character up to 20
Earn up to 10 gold per character
Level any profession up to 100
Chat in /say and /party channels
Characters that are ten or more levels higher than you will not see your /say messages
Whisper your friends <- Only friends added by character name. Blizzard and RealID friends will not show up and chat won't appear from them.

it is 1am aussie, they are all asleep, the zone feels empty

Felstriker doesn't have queue.
But most of us fear it will become a dead server faster then other oceanic server once the hype die down.

Tonight i will use census addon to check the amount of player there(horde side)

Don't forget there layering so it will feel a little empty.

Some more ,if I pay 3months the subscription and terminated after a month can I still possible to play until end of my subscription date?
