With Google Pay, anyone with a signed in Google account can make payment seamlessly whether they are on an e-commerce site, within an app or in a supported physical store. This enables merchants to enjoy higher conversion rate as customers can make payments with a couple of clicks. For consumers, you’ll only need to save your card information once with Google and your next purchase will be a breeze. ![]() While Google Pay also supports contactless payments like Samsung Pay, it seems that iPay88 will be mainly focusing on e-commerce. At the moment, iPay88 hasn’t provided details yet on actual availability. |

Google Pay is actually already supported in our country for a while, but only for making payments in Play Store.
For NFC payment, don't even think about it. |

QUOTE(aisyahbb @ Mar 5 2020, 08:49 AM) Pros:- Integrate all credit/debit cards A, B, C into one your phone. No need to carry physical cards. Prevent lost of cards. - Google pay / Apple pay will generate virtual card number to conceal your real physical card number. So the merchants can only see your virtual cards number but not the physical card number. In that way, cashier can't copy your physical card number under the table and use it to shop online. Cons: - Google knows your every spending and might sell your privacy data for advertising. - Unlike physical cards, if your phone ran out of battery then you can't use google pay. It's a NFC aka contactless payment method, any merchant terminal in the world that can accept visa / mastercard paywave will also able to accept google pay / apple pay. Wondering if lose phone will have any problems? Should be ok cause use fingerprint kan? QUOTE Whenever your phone is unlocked, it can be used to make purchases in stores. If your phone is lost or stolen, you can find, lock, or erase it using Find My Device. If you lock your device, Google Pay can't be used. If your device can't be contacted, your payment information might be removed so no one can access it. If you find your device, unlock it and add your payment information again to use Google Pay. Since Google Pay doesn't store your card details on your phone, anyone who finds or steals your phone won't be able to access that information, even if it's unlocked. https://support.google.com/pay/answer/7643925?hl=en At least you locked your phone and the theft can't access to your virtual cards in short period of time. You need to go to telco service center and secure your sim card number asap coz of the OTP function for bank and any other important accounts. You need to log in your google account from computer and remove active google account on other devices. Tips: Practice to use Find My Device to locate or erase your phone. |

Seems like there's hope for Google Pay/Google Wallet to be available here. In Google System Update support page, it shows that 22 new countries will be added to support Google Wallet on upcoming Google Play Services version v22.30, current version is at v22.29.13 and Google Wallet is still not available to download for Malaysia region yet. The page might not show the latest changelog sometimes, they're probably working on something for the page, the latest folder should include July 2022 changelogs as shown on screenshot below. (credit to yenchenje for sharing on Apple Pay discussion thread) https://support.google.com/product-document...answer/11412553 Aside from that, Visa Thailand has stated that they're testing both Google Pay and Apple Pay in Thailand. With all the news of Apple Pay launching in Malaysia, Google Pay shouldn't be far unless we're skipped again. This post has been edited by xperiaDROID: Aug 5 2022, 02:17 AM yenchenje liked this post

QUOTE(RonanGow @ Aug 4 2022, 10:12 PM) QUOTE(yenchenje @ Aug 4 2022, 10:21 PM) Ok just checked on Android Shopee based on RonanGow's post, and it is indeed there, has there been any news about iPay88 working on Google Pay integration? Or any local market integration? ![]() ![]() (Captured on DeX and this is what showed after clicking Buy With GPay) Left being Google Pay and right being GPay (Newer version of Google Pay)Unfortunately can't screenshot the actual payment page with the card/gmail page due to security policy of Android. Maybe Shopee is just trying to integrate both AP/GP despite availability? Not sure.. Nvm googled and it seems like GP has been available from iPay88 since 2019, but only for payment terminal processing and not actual contactless (Wave) payment.. so ehhh? But perhaps more importantly, I think we should look into whether the appearance of Google Pay in Malaysia's Shopee app occurred at the same time as Apple Pay. If true, chances could either be: - Google Pay would arrive in near future following Apple Pay's release - they accidentally toggled the Gpay option while updating the app to finally support AP QUOTE(yenchenje @ Aug 4 2022, 10:56 PM) ![]() Even on Google's official page, there's conflicting information, supposedly it's supported in this list of countries but even in the app there's only 3 countries, if you're opening this using a Malaysian IP it does tell you above with a ribbon that says "Google Wallet isn't available in your country yet, but check back soon!" https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/12...e-google-wallet ![]() QUOTE(Noelleshaw @ Aug 4 2022, 10:58 PM) Even on Google's official page, there's conflicting information, supposedly it's supported in this list of countries but even in the app there's only 3 countries, if you're opening this using a Malaysian IP it does tell you above with a ribbon that says "Google Wallet isn't available in your country yet, but check back soon!" QUOTE(yenchenje @ Aug 4 2022, 11:02 PM) I’m currently using gpay(us) fine and I opened it with a Malaysian ip Not saying the actual function but what the page is telling users that access it, I'm sure with a US/SG/IN issued card, with the right country set you can add it to Google Wallet and use contactless, despite not being in that country. ![]() Here's the page opened on a Germany based VPS, the message is completely different from what is shown when opened in MY. QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Aug 4 2022, 11:15 PM) The Google Pay option in Shopee app has already appeared since the end of 2021, this is because of iPay88 collaboration with Google to enable Google Pay for online merchants. Hence, Shopee is using iPay88 as their payment gateway which is why there's such option. Moving previous discussions here from Apple Pay thread for further references. I think there's not much speculations to be made for Google Pay at the moment until Google Wallet can be downloaded in our region because currently it's unavailable, the app can only be downloaded if Google Pay is in the particular region. But judging from what Visa Thailand has said about that they're already testing both Apple Pay and Google Pay in their region, I'm still hopeful that it's the same case here and we'll see it happen in the near future. Yeah I'm not sure what Google is doing here but, I've tried with one account being in Malaysia and one in the US for Google Pay and Google Wallet. Both has GPay and GWallet available for DL. But downloading Google Wallet turns the app into the old Google Pay app, and downloading GPay only has 3 regions, India, Singapore and United States. So not really sure how it's supposed to work

But based on AP's track record, it took them 1-2 years to get it ready for prod so I'll be surprise if MY FI-s can churn GP out in a month or two with BxM approval unless, it's already in pilot testing phase. |

Unlike Google, from ditching Google Wallet for Google Pay and then reintroduce Google Wallet with Google Pay, and also having both apps separately running at the same time in some countries. And for those countries that are chosen to only use Google Wallet, some are having troubles updating from Google Pay app. What a mess. QUOTE(PoisonSoul @ Aug 7 2022, 10:02 AM) Since when they are not? LOL I believe GP should be on the same track as AP, just that AP was quick in finalizing everything. I kinda doubt GP isn't on local FI's sight unless the people behind them are really not exposed enough to know that GP even exists, but since GP already has a presence here for online payments, it shouldn't be much far away for offline in-store payments, all it probably takes is just a nod from local FI's and they're all set.Anyways, still hoping if not at the same time, maybe in a month or two after AP is rolled out in MY, Google will see it as "wow, so good. The recent info of "added support to launch Google Wallet in 22 new countries" should be a hopeful hint, I'm willing to bet Malaysia and also Thailand are in the list. QUOTE(PoisonSoul @ Aug 7 2022, 10:02 AM) Since when they are not? LOL Not wrong I guess, even their own product line for Google Wallet + Google Pay is confusing enough. Maybe the drive for GP is just not that big? Considering most android phones only have NFC from mid range and onwards, whereas with AP, anything after the 6 supports it. Maybe the drive is gonna be same with SP, where there's no fees? That's the only reason that I can think of if people are not using Samsung for their SP.Anyways, still hoping if not at the same time, maybe in a month or two after AP is rolled out in MY, Google will see it as "wow, so good. We want a slice too!" and implement it here. But based on AP's track record, it took them 1-2 years to get it ready for prod so I'll be surprise if MY FI-s can churn GP out in a month or two with BxM approval unless, it's already in pilot testing phase. I think local card wont work for Gpay now because it requires both end to enable it, the bank and Gpay.
Shopeepay or certain site u see Gpay, the local app installed thats why it showing up. That api used was common across other country since Shopee used the same platform in other market. |

Once you setup the Google Wallet with yr bank card, there is a set up guide for NFC payments (should yr device support NFC)If regular paywave at stores can use?? If they don't have Gpay logo.. Just tap & pay like using Visa paywave or Mastercard contactless Natsukashii liked this post

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Nov 15 2022, 01:55 PM) question is whether got txn limit imposed (per txn and/or cumulative count/amount) From google website its say payment limited RM250 before you need to unlock your phone, but you can Turn on Require device unlock for NFC for additional safetysame like cc contactless, ppl take you card also can do contactless payment la by default, banks impose PIN for amount >rm250 per txn. Payment limits on a locked device https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/12...a-locked-device QUOTE No unlock needed for smaller payments Important: For tap to pay transactions under a certain amount, you may not need to unlock your phone. For regional requirements, go to the table below. You can only make a limited number of locked transactions before your phone asks you to unlock it. You must also complete the transaction within a few minutes after you unlock it. Tip: For added security, set up your phone so that it must be unlocked to complete a near field communication (NFC) transaction. To turn on this setting: Go to Settings Settings gear. Tap Connected devices and thenConnection preferences and then NFC. Turn on Require device unlock for NFC. If you can’t find this option, you may need to update your phone to the latest version of Android. Anybody managed to use this? I tried at Petronas, McD and one other shop. All failed. I am not sure what I did wrong. Cards are linked successfully.
Perhaps some terminal cannot support? So far the failed terminals are Maybank and Public Bank. |

Changed my phone Secure Element setting to HCE Wallet, reboot and it works.
Google Pay is my favorite way to pay right now. Just unlock and tap. It's more convenient than other ewallets. I can leave my card at home. The only thing I wonder is will it work without internet connection? I will probably try it out someday. QUOTE(spyrr @ Nov 17 2022, 03:09 PM) |

QUOTE(mr_robot @ Dec 15 2022, 09:14 AM) Easier no need to bring physical wallet. But yeah will argue that Samsung Pay way better in terms of the points reward system, just like using a Bonuslink Card. But one plus side is that you get to store all your rewards and loyalty cards on the Wallet too, hence really can leave the physical wallet at home dee. |

QUOTE(petrofsky77 @ Dec 16 2022, 10:49 AM) Easier no need to bring physical wallet. But yeah will argue that Samsung Pay way better in terms of the points reward system, just like using a Bonuslink Card. But one plus side is that you get to store all your rewards and loyalty cards on the Wallet too, hence really can leave the physical wallet at home dee. QUOTE(joshgm_119 @ Dec 16 2022, 12:09 PM) ok, i will just continue use my samsung pay |

I have used Google Pay extensively for the last one month. So far I've seen 2 kinds of failure cases. 1. Those parking places that require you to tap in and tap out. I can tap my phone to go in but the barrier will not open when go out 2. White Public Bank mobile terminal Other than that, it was smooth sailing. |

QUOTE(joice11 @ Jan 16 2023, 07:45 PM) i also cannot find the HCE in my phone setting, my case is after i tap, my phone show a tick, but fail at the terminal, mean should be not my phone setting problem. What phone are u using? And which bank card? And did you unlock your phone while tapping it?I know Hong Leong limits Google wallet without unlock for 3 times only, after that need to unlock, only can use. No such limitation was stated for Public Bank and CIMB. Some phones like Sony Xperia have options to "require unlock" to use NFC. In my experience using HLB card on Sony Xperia 5 IV. I'd say 90% it's working. I do however notice some white terminal (Public Bank and Hong Leong Bank failed all the time with Google wallet) You may also want to try remove the card on Google wallet and try adding it again. |

Just found that HSBC credit card is available on Google pay now. Same promotion with Apple Pay when HSBC credit card is supported. Spend 5x min RM50 to get RM30 cashback.

Weird, I've never had a failed transaction before with Gpay+HSBC ever since I've started using it 3 months ago. I've used it on:
- 2 different Mr. DIY (RM8, RM300++) - Petronas - Bowling Centers - 99s - Burger King - KFC - McD - KK speedmart I've not noticed what terminal they are using though because I always thought any terminal that supports wave can, so I was wrong? |

QUOTE(Natsukashii @ Jan 16 2024, 11:05 AM) No need to unlock.Just press the power button when the screen on, it wakes the NFC function up and you can make payment. Basically anyone grab your phone can make the payment without pin, up to RM250 then it'll ask for unlock the phone or pin to verify. Natsukashii liked this post

QUOTE(Kadaj @ Jan 17 2024, 09:20 AM) No need to unlock. Just tested multiple times, yes screen needs to be awake Just press the power button when the screen on, it wakes the NFC function up and you can make payment. Basically anyone grab your phone can make the payment without pin, up to RM250 then it'll ask for unlock the phone or pin to verify. I remember last time I don't have to wake the screen Then out of sudden, it stopped working I was so confused Now I know, screen has to wake. For above RM250, if have to enter PIN, we need to enter it on the phone? |

I am thinking to use Google Pay. Been using Samsung Pay for many years, but maybe next phone want to use other brand instead of Samsung. Anyone using Google Pay contactless method? Does it works overseas? Feedback? https://www.digitalnewsasia.com/business/go...26%20Air%20Asia. QUOTE At launch Google Wallet works with CIMB Bank (Mastercard credit cards), Hong Leong Bank and Hong Leong Islamic Bank (all credit and debit cards), and Public Bank (Visa credit and debit cards). Any other banks working now? I have tried:1. UOB Credit Card - Does not work 2. WISE - Virtual card. I have previously set this up as a payment method in Google Playstore payment mean and have successfully added to the Contactless payment. This is not physical, just virtual card! 3. Maybank Credit Card - Does not work. I only have Maybank and UOB cc only currently. So i am thinking to get either CIMB or PBB Credit card for this purpose. Any recommendations which CC to use? rip_code liked this post

I have CIMB and HSBC set up for Google Pay but never got it worked locally before. Was told it should work like normal pay wave, instead of card, just use phone but never happened to me. Now I have just switched to Iphone and Apple Pay always worked.

Since you have UOB credit card, you can just pay with UOB Pay on your phone.
