Seems like there's hope for Google Pay/Google Wallet to be available here.

In Google System Update support page, it shows that 22 new countries will be added to support Google Wallet on upcoming Google Play Services version v22.30, current version is at v22.29.13 and Google Wallet is still not available to download for Malaysia region yet.

The page might not show the latest changelog sometimes, they're probably working on something for the page, the latest folder should include July 2022 changelogs as shown on screenshot below. (credit to yenchenje for sharing on Apple Pay discussion thread)

Aside from that, Visa Thailand has stated that they're testing both Google Pay and Apple Pay in Thailand. With all the news of Apple Pay launching in Malaysia, Google Pay shouldn't be far unless we're skipped again.

What I meant was not available to download on Play Store, usually only regions that have Google Wallet supported can download from there.

Also, Google Pay is added on Shopee since 2021 because they're using iPay88 payment gateway which collaborated with Google to enable Google Pay for online merchants, not offline retail merchants.

On Google's support page for Google Wallet, Malaysia is listed on online payments but not for in store payments yet.

Both camps in Malaysia have been asking for it since ages ago, and it's about damn time we can finally use them, AP launching here is really a huge milestone for everyone of us.

May I know how did you manage to download it, and is your Google account on Malaysia region?

I have tried with Xiaomi, Honor and TCL devices but Google Wallet is still showing not available.

I installed Google Wallet but has the exact same setting with you.
Based on the faq, in your 1st image, there should be got another column for "Require device unlock for NFC" setting.
As i explained earlier, phone has multiple functions and it is more often for me to hand out my phone to another person for many reasons, but not for payment related.
Whereas, card is different, if i dont use the card, i will keep in drawer / card holder. And it is rare for me to hand out the card to other person.

I am not trying to bring down Google wallet, is just i feel more secure if there another layer of verification prior to payment like another 2 competitors.

Can enlighten me methods to set limit in Google Wallet? And what limit that you mean?

I'm on latest firmware (android 12) but there no option for that setting.

Anybody managed to use this? I tried at Petronas, McD and one other shop. All failed. I am not sure what I did wrong. Cards are linked successfully.

Perhaps some terminal cannot support? So far the failed terminals are Maybank and Public Bank.

Wonder what's taking so long for Maybank to support Google Pay...

Just found that HSBC credit card is available on Google pay now. Same promotion with Apple Pay when HSBC credit card is supported. Spend 5x min RM50 to get RM30 cashback.

Standard Standard Bank is now available on Google Pay “again”. I’ve successfully added my Mastercard credit on Google Pay.
