From reading those threads there r comments made by mcoleg that when the system is cooled with more fans it uses less power than with less fans. LOL. (Edit: when i LOL i mean in terms how crazy electronics r.)

Each CCFL pair I turn on consumes about 12W.

I think the only devices that are power hungry are the 8800 series cards and only need a top-end PSU when running these in SLI consfiguration.

CCFL eat so much energy also...swt...
how do i know the rail 1, rail 2, rail 3+++ PSU is for which component?

need help guys. icon_question.gif i got a 8 years old monitor from my friend in which its power cable is plugged into power supply instead of main switch. i'm afraid that my power supply wont be able to power up both monitor and my CPU and i have no money to upgrade my power supply.

so, i would like to know if i can change the power cable of the monitor so that it draws power from main switch, not power supply. is it possible?

@LYR

Can you post the pic of the monitor? Show the back of monitor, that house the port of power connector and VGA connector.

If the power connector cable is detachable, why not you plug a power cable directly from the monitor to any powerpoint?
