How stupid if they repeat it...

The alternative is a possible fall of Timor Leste into a lawless failed state, a haven of criminals and terrorists right at the doorstep of Indonesia and Australia.

TIR that the time between when the F-14 Tomcat was first launched and the period the Supermarine Spitfire was first launched is closer than we are today to when the F-14 itself was first launched.

In context, the F-14 was first launched in 1970 and the Spitfire was first launched in 1936. So they both have a gap of 34 years between their respective first flights. We are now in 2021, so in 1970 when the F-14 was first launched, it was literally 51 years ago.

I don't understand the purpose for this thing. 105mm gun and not armored.
*
Right? It is literally a gunboat. Dunno why they keep calling it a tank boat just bcoz it uses an IFV turret.
Also, why on earth they put turret right on top of the bridge, the muzzle flash and sound when the gun is firing would be both blinding and deafening to the bridge crew, would it not?

The initial model is using 105mm cannon.
Have you seen a gunboat with 105mm Cannon?
And using a type of cannon that used on tank?
That is why they called it a tank boat

I think TNI preffer 30mm RCWS on it.
A RCWS commonly installed on IFV.
It is an IFV on waters.
*
I think you're confused on what constitutes a Tank or IFV.

Having something installed with a Tank/IFV turret does not make it into a Tank/IFV. laugh.gif

And there is no correct and incorrect terms actually.
*
According to dictionary.com

A tank is a heavy armored fighting vehicle carrying guns and moving on a continuous articulated metal track.

An infantry fighting vehicle is a type of armored fighting vehicle used to carry infantry into battle and provide direct-fire support.

Meanwhile, the definition of a Gunboat is: "a small fast ship with guns mounted on it, for use in shallow coastal waters and rivers"

RMN uses LMS term for patrol ship.
*
LMS is actually the name of that particular class of ships (Keris-Class) based on its roles, not a catch-all name for patrol ships by the TLDM

Littoral : Meaning the ship is to operate in littoral areas

Mission: Meaning the ship is supposed to be equipped with modular 'mission packs' based on its tasks at the time (Different packs for MCW, ASW, ASuW and other tasks)

Ship: It is a ship
