Use this link to check if your set is Malaysia version or telco lock.
1 .On dial pad, *#06# and you see the IMEI number
2. go to
https://www.imei.info/ and put in the imei number and click CHECK
3. On the next screen, click on "Check SN /Warranty / Carrier" and you can see if the phone is SIM Lock or Open"]
--------
By keying in the imei details, you can find your phone details and when the warranty starts/ends.
Bought 2 phones (1 from walk-in official mi store and 1 online). Both suppose to be Xiaomi Malaysia warranty 1year as its Malaysian set. What I discover was that the one bought in the store, the warranty started on the date I bought but the one that I just bought online, the warranty started almost a year ago and the warranty is going to end in September 2019 (while accessory warranty is already expired). Thus, the online store registered the warranty way earlier. (BTW, my box was sealed).
So guys, pls be aware when buying online, your warranty registration may already be close to expiration/expired and the seller did not bother to inform you.
For me, lesson learnt, I basically lost my warranty by buying online
Update:
Went to the service centre and they say warranty will follow invoice date. So if system is wrong, will amend warranty in system to invoice start date. So all's well.
