yes, 5%+ still better FD but just slightly better only..
make ppl worried is the general downward trending,
ASM as example since 2015 6.6% down 6.3% down 6.0% down to 5.5%.
if trending continue, ASNB rate will be just on par with Bank Rakyat FD 4.85%.
it make me worry on accumulating my retirement fund also,
for example if I projected my retirement fund using 6% rate, I expect to retire in next 10 years, but now rate reduced my retire has to postpone to next 13 years.
reduced rate also impact your wealth on hedging inflation rate,
example if ASNB is 6%+ still barely offset the inflation rate so your wealth is not shrinking,
but if down to 5% which means your wealth is eating up by inflation.
we should look at it in long term perspective, unless we are so sure next year we will die, which I hope so....
