Hi all, want to ask for your opinion/ suggestion.

I bought a condo unit (to be completed next year) which comes furnished with kitchen cabinet, hood & hob and sink. Recently I found out about the kitchen cabinet design (in the pic). Personally, I would like the top cabinet to be built all the way up to the ceiling for more storage; a big sink and a side-by-side hob. Besides, I would like to build additional kitchen cabinet to form a galley style layout, so I am afraid that the cabinet material and design won’t match. I have asked the developer, if I choose to opt out, I might not get a refund.

What’s a better option? Ask developer to leave the cabinet materials there (but not built) perhaps I could reuse the materials? Or remove/ modify the cabinet after I move in? Or opt out and no refund...

Thanks in advanced for any suggestions.

You can request the contractor through the developer to add with a marked-up price.

The unused material is of no use to another contractor. He wont have enough to match those additional work.

New design involved different cut-out to suit.

Normally developer wont entertain refund. They start with one, they have to give to others which makes coordination work difficult. Price contracted are for the whole project.

Is it possible to know what kind of material used in this table top? There are
some stains on it, and I am wondering if I can remove it with some chemical or cleaning agent?

Thanks

Try using turpentine or car polish. Start with a small patch area.

Turpentine is effective for removing, if is sticky patches.

Hi all, would appreciate comment from the experts.

I recently ordered a IKEA Knoxhult KC online and I'm planning to assemble myself. The place that I plan to put this KC is around 1.9m with an existing pipe at around 1.2 m mark. I'm planning to get a plumber to install the cabinet for me and cut the counter top to install another sink.

My question is, will it be an issue if the piping (1.2 m mark) is the same place as my kitchen frame? In this case, can I ask the plumber to move the piping to slightly right so that the pipe can sits at the right cabinet? Thanks sifu

Take a photo of the area behind the kitchen cabinet.

I haven't really measured but I would estimate the frame to be sitting in the middle of both pipes.

Just gotten a quotation from kaodim, around 500 to install the sink and adjust the pipe location either by hacking the frame or to hack the tiles to move the pipe slightly.
*
If is middle, then you are lucky. No need to do anything to piping. Just need to bore the two holes on the backer board to fit the piping.

Take one of the frame to check whether it sits nice between the two pipes.

I might be wrong cause no site viewing but from the photo, the space is wide between the two piping and should fit the frame.

Alternatively, you can align the KB to the left or right so that the frame doesnt touch the piping. As for any small gap next to the wall, if any, think of a something to cover it.

I would avoid reposition the piping, unless no choice.

Hi, I'm a first-time house owner and on a budget. My kitchen is small and a simple KC would do. The Hood n Hob, sink I can outsource myself. Would you guys suggest Ikea KC or not? Is it cheaper?
*
The important point is whether the available sizes can fit your kitchen. You cant cut, joint and fit.

If is a small kitchen, ready made kb is better option. Those made to order, normally supplier will charge minimum price for small kitchen.

Hi, I am planning the KC for my new house. Originally I want to do a concrete kitchen counter and then install the plywood cabinet. But I’ve seen many samples and they are very ugly because the counter top part will be very thick.
Do you guys have any idea to protect the kitchen cabinet from water damage? Cause worry that maybe wanna wash the floors or something in the future
*
Request your contractor to do a raised cement flooring to suit your kb dimension.

You need to complete the flooring and then do the measurement for the KC

Can I know what's SBS range limiter Sensei? The fridge that I intend to get is 855mm so I guess it's enough for the fridge cabinet. Thanks for highlighting that out! tongue.gif

Btw, what do you think about the quotation? I've made a similar layout plan in Ikea app and it cost around 12k without installations and kitchentop(So I assumed it will be around 16-17k in the end). However, I know Ikea used better quality of chipboard & hardware(compared to most of the local carpenter offer) but will it last longer than plywood that local carpenter using in long term?  hmm.gif
*
I dont think your carpentar is using plywood .... it should be the common chipboard also. The different in prices is the thickness.

The price of plywood is more expensive than chipboard.

Btw, I never agree to a fridge cabinet in my place.

Well, it's the word from the carpenter himself. Perhaps I shall ask him to put the black and white into the finalise quotation for better assurance?

Mind to elaborate more on this, sensei?  biggrin.gif

30 to 40 years ago, many cupboards are made from plywoods. I doubt one can find one now in any furniture shop.

All electrical appliances with a 'motor' running gives out heat and it needs to be well ventilated to achieve optimum operation. What more if is running non stop.

Fridge works the same as aircond outdoor unit. It needs an open space. .....why some people complain their ac is not cold even after servicing. Is nothing to do with ac sometime but the placement of outdoor unit.

If you want the fridge to last longer and have better cooling, never box it up.

All cars come with a radiator fan to cool the water during traffic congestion or at traffic light junctions. When one travel long journey, the wind and fan helps to cool the radiator to prevent over heating.

hi guys, i need opinion here.

i have a big sink (work station) and together with gas hob will take up to 80% of the counter top, which mean if i use quartz stone, only 20% left. very wasteful, any other alternative on the material ?

another question, can we do gas piping routing from Yard to the indoor kitchen, usually the contractor know about this ?
*
Similar to AC piping ...can be from the service road at the kitchen where the ODU to the living room IDU

Engage an experienced person to do it.

For kitchen counter top, any photo ? There are always alternative materials in the market, only if you like it.

If there is available area for a standing gas hob, then that space can be made available for work.

The sink is 1.5 bowl or 1 bowl with drainer ? If you have the latter, then the drain space can use to put things after washing.

Hello All, I'm asking about the "Toilet sink cabinet" here, since I think it should be similar to kitchen sink?`.

Would like to install a simple cabinet below the toilet sink, and not too sure if the Ikea base cabinet, must it use together with Ikea sink? or it can be fit with the existing sink?

Does anyone of you have experience on this before?

If the purpose is for storage, wall cabinet with sliding door mirror would be a better choice.

Hi sifus, I might be planning to buy subsale house.

I wanna ask ya, if the house already got KC like in the picture, but I don't like the color, is it possible to keep the frames but just change the doors and hinges?

I believe that's much cheaper than paying to break down the whole thing and rebuild right?

Also, is it possible to change the tiles in between the top and bottom KC without too much trouble?

Thanks sifus in advance!

If you are refering to the photos, there will be some exposed frames which will remain the same colour as the door .... unless you intend to change that too.

Otherwise, choose a new door colour that matches the exposed frames and the counter top.

Another thing to take note is when you change the hinges, it wont last long once is remove and rescrew over the same holes. The screws will lossen up after sometime with constant opening closing.

Hi Sifus out there,

Wanted to find out about Kitchenwares.

Anyone heard of/used/installed Ecoware before?

https://ecoware.com.my/#

Got introduced from one of the ID suppliers out there for Kitchen renovation.

Their price is almost double of what is selling out there in shopee, lazada.

Material used either polish chrome/stainless steel.

But there is 3 years warranty for that premium price.

Some comparison of pricing of the particular same item.

Welcome for anyone to share their experiences using these types of kitchenware, durable or not. thanks!

Hello,

I'm looking to replace one custom cabinet door with clear glass.
The frame can be either white wooden or aluminium.

Now, many cabinet makers have minimum order of certain amount.
They don't accept small order for one door.

Can anyone refer a shop which can accept small order for custom made door?
I have found one in Lazada/Shopee but it doesn't ship glass door...
*
QUOTE(Snoy @ Jan 21 2022, 01:33 PM)
Already did this.
Most alu/glass shops will not entertain such request too.

That's why I wish to check out if there is any specific vendor willing to do this.
*
I think is the issue of pricing they dont want to do.

Unless you want them to quote and you pay without question, I believed some will do.
