Hi all, from the thread, i cant find anyone doing review for Wooot Carpenter. Anyone here hv experience with them? I cant decide between Wooot Carpenter and Signature kitchen. In terms of pricing, Wooot is cheaper, but in terms of warranty and hinges, Signature is better

Signature provide 10 years warranty.. but you need to understand what is their T&C..
I get quote 12FT cabinet + 9ft wall + 12ft quartz by Signature almost 14k without SINK, TAP, HOD and HOOD.

Going for SCI cabinet same thing almost 9K + some accesories and eletrician + Plumber works, + SINK TAP HOD and HOOD almost 12.5k.

But workmanship no idea as alot review say it is sucks.
*
As my understanding, all company will provide warranty on things other than wear and tear. I can bear with that. Things i like bout Signature is the inside of the cabinet-got texture (seems laminated), hence why i considering them. And they r giving freebies too atm.

Yup i read SCI workmanship sucks. So far no one ever complains regarding Wooot, their pricing is quite good tho.

My parents house use Signature Kitchen. So far only issue is the door below sink there start "kembang" already...other than that no issue at all.

I just make the final confirmation with SCI yesterday and what they claim that previously they got outsource but very troublesome. They can arrange their in house installer however it might need to wait .
*
Are u very satisfied with the Signature cabinet? Or so so? How long hv u been using that cabinet?

This kitchen built 10 years ago. So far only the cabinet door under the sink have some "kembang" other wise all still in good condition. Suggest you upgrade the cabinet door under sink to have better to avoid this...
*
Noted2. What about insects? Termites and cockroaches? Same as other cabinet?

I tried to ask for quotation from woot, but they gave me some dumb designer who don’t even read the basic design requirement that I spelled out in my sketch, which was pretty details already. End up she’s asking questions which she doesn’t need to even ask.

She can’t even differentiate between an island and peninsula doh.gif

End up she didn’t reply me at all after I asked her to read back the sketch I gave her. Shit service even before it begins.

There are plenty of better companies out there since you even have budget for signature kitchen.
*
Thanks for the review. Yes, i admit that the services wasn’t good enough. Late replies and lacks of knowledge on their products. I already placed deposit with Signature and now waiting for key from developer šŸ˜€ i hope i made a good decision..

Lack of knowledge was a big turnoff for me. I don’t want to get into trouble later having to guide them like little kids on how I want my KC to be like. I prefer to engage contractor that hire people with actual knowledge.

You can’t go any wrong with signature kitchen, except that you’re paying premium price. But better pay premium price for peace of mind rather than engaging companies like woot and having headache later.
*
Totally agree with u. Peace of mind is what i’m settling for. Hoping that the kitchen cabinet will last me for 20yrs without any issue.

Hi, all sifus here, i need some recommendation and someone to have a look on the quotation, because i am not really sure about the price is reasonable or on the high side.
*
Unity Kitchen is it? If yes, i agree it is expensive. And the price almost the same with signature kitchen. I prefer signature looks rather than unity. But i think it depends on ur budget. If unity is expensive, maybe u can try other brands.

But for march offer, they give free table top (sandstone), which roughly can save 4k
after discounted is around 15.8k

Any recommendation other than Signature kitchen and unity kitchen? can survey around first
*
So the total would be less than the quotation? (If tabletop is free) if u think it is worth it, go for it..

If u go for no-brand kitchen cabinet (the one with own factory), u can get half the price..i went to one in sg buloh..i cant remember the name..but i wasn’t sure of the aftersale services, hence my decision on signature..

Hi sifus, i’m planning to have melamine and quartz kitchen cabinet. But i have issues with my own design. I can’t seem to finalize on the location of my washed dishes - either buy double bowl sink OR have open shelf (seems messy to me). Is there any other design u could suggest to me? Tq

I had the same dilemma as you. I hate the look of dish drainer. So I opted to use one of the double bowl sink to as drainer + small countertop dish drainer which I could keep inside the cabinet after using them. It is a hassle to take them out and put back into the cabinet and I have to rajin wipe the dishes after "draining" them. Something that I have to sacrifice for the sake of clean looks.
*
My thought as well and i have limited countertop area, so need to make sure it is not messy all the time. But i’m not that rajin to wipe the dishes šŸ˜… bcoz of this i haven’t bought any sink yet 🤣

I'm having Itto handmade SS sink with nano tech, seems better than the Kohler SS sink you had. Btw perhaps you could recommend the brand/model of granite sink you're using since not every brands of granite sink will be the same.
*
I saw this nano tech ss sink in home expo in sunway pyramid. Mind explaining it? Cant find 306 tho.

Dear sifus, i am 90% close to buying this blanco.
Blanco silgranit

When i wanted to finalise the design with my kitchen cabinet guy, he said that if i use undermount sink, it will be hard to change the sink once the sink fails. They can do recess mount sink for me if i use ss sink (easy to replace the sink) but cannot do recess with the blanco since it is thicker and got few holes. Now im in dilemma, is blanco really long lasting? 15 years above can still ok? If not i will hunt for ss sink, altho i really want a granite sink.

I dont want top mount sink since water and dirt can stay between the gap of sink and kitchen top

To put into perspective, I have removed an undermounted SS sink mounted to quartz top before (from a "halfcut" due to "wrongly ordered" by a big kitcab firm).
They stuck the sink to the quartz top using epoxy adhesive, it can be removed but involved using a blade/knife to slice the epoxy layer.
The quartz "halfcut" was to be disposed off so I didn't bother cleaning the mounting edge.
I think this is the part that the KC guy was worried about but after removing off the sink the hole is already accessible and previous mounting edge can be sanded down for the new sink.

Cleaning up the epoxy residue on the SS sink took awhile to scrape off and fine removal with steel wool but doable.
*
Im purchasing kc from signature, and the guy said if in the future, if we open up the quartz top to replace the sink, usually the bottom cabinet will rosak. Hence need to replace the bottom too (worst case scenario). Im thinking to use the kc for more than 20yrs, hence the dilemma.

Technically prep work is just:
to remove the sink connections (tap flexihose and drain pipe) and
unscrew the top's L joints from the bottom carcass and
remove the plinth (if any) and slice the caulking at the wall-top connection..

from there nothing is holding back the top already.
Then you can take out the whole top with the sink attached* as a single piece.
Old sink can be removed and new sink can be reattached.
Some recaulking here and there at the part where top meets the wall.

*May not work well for ultra long top or L shaped kitchen top.
*Unless they epoxy the top to the carcass which is quite a silly thing to do (to make it non-serviceable).

Some people just want to sell you a new kitchen in 20 years I think.
Whilst I cannot comment more since I got the free sink halfcut from that place also. laugh.gif

For me this is why I still like the ikea modular kitchen. Any problem it is easy to just change that particular carcass module only.
*
From ur explanation, seems like replacing the sink is possible without damaging the cabinet. Not L shaped top, only 12ft straight top. Too late to change my mind, already paid the kc 🤣

Ok will proceed to buy blanco then. Tq boss!

Hi all,

i want to check my understanding on the counter top and undermount sink installation.

usually for kitchen cabinet, they will place a layer of plywood first before placing the quart stone on top

then for undermount sink is actually sandwich in between the ply wood and counter top

when they put the quart stone on the top, do they apply any glue to permanently bond the counter top with the plywood ?
*
From my kc guy explained, depends on the company. Mostly do like that. Other sifus maybe can answer this

Such payment term certainly gives you very little recourse in the event that they did a sloppy job since you already paid them full, zero risk for them as all monies collected upfront.

If half upfront and half upon satisfactory completion of works sound more reasonable to me.

For a baseline, roughly how much did they quote (and scope of works)?
*
Alamak, i already paid signature full amount. Should be ok is it since it is a reputable brand?

The only risk is that they may or may not entertain you if you have some dissatisfaction about the final product. Both signature and unity are quite popular in KC so shouldn't have issue like incomplete job after full payment.

Noted boss.. Hopefully they install nicely.
