what is the length of both base and wall cabinets?

From which company?

As DIYer, what is standard base kitchen cabinet depth?
*
I would expect you want many measurements instead of depth only.
Perhaps, you can refer to Ikea Metod series for such info.
For example, Ikea base cabinet depth is 60cm meanwhile worktop is 63.5cm.

Yesterday, I approached a Kitchen cabinet company for quotation.
Cabinet price is attractive but the extra cost sounds exorbitant.

For sink installation:
* Cut a hole for Quartz: RM300
* Polish hole edge for undermount sink: RM550
* Plumbing for sink drain: RM300
Total: RM1150 merely for one sink installation. Double that if you have two.

Is this normal for all vendors?

Cut a hole is usually 200. My contractor didn't even charge me as I bought Silestone from him. He did charge 200 for hob and 200 for dry kitchen sink. It is nonsense to need 550 to polish the edge. Even adding support won't cost that much. Plumbing can be cheaper unless yours are complicated. My wet and dry kitchen plumbing with garbage disposal was 500. But my wet kitchen Grohe was a bit complicated.
*
When did you engage the work?
I'm not sure if mine is new price for 2020.

My plumbing setup is simple, merely to connect hose to drain.
No way for RM300.
I will do it myself.

I may still go with them because their cabinet price is really competitive for the materials.
And it's a reputable brand even in this thread...

U should see my other thread on my renovation. I moved in Jan 16. What does 2020 got to do with price?
*
That was crossing 5 new years.
Long enough for vendors to increase price... let's say 10% per year...

Did you manage to progress? Im almost in the same shoe soon, hoping for feedback. The most friendly one i been to was mixbox okr
*
That depends on your kitchen size and materials.
In my case, 20' base and 15' wall price starts from 14k.

it depends on the workmanship and size of your sink too, how thick is your material, how hard to work with, what is the risk of damaging the piece who will be responsible for it if damaged.
polishing also costs a lot depends on requirement too, fine finished surface.

if you don't define what kind of quality of the finishing they will work until their standard.

if you don't want them to polish try get an angle grinder/orbital sander buy proper sanding pad and hire some Bangala rm60 daily/ indo skill rm120 daily to work for you.

You will be taking the risk damaging the surface.
*
As a normal consumer, we won't know the industry quality standard, no way to define the quality standard.
But we do know the perceived output of the polished edge.
Charging high doesn't guarantee good quality too.

Today, I got another quote from another kitchen cabinet vendor (premium brand).
Cutting hole + edge polishing costs RM350 comparing to first quotation of RM850.
How does it sound?

Both company do not care hole size but quotation is based on number of holes and do not care materials, quartz (any brands) / granite.

Well, no one stopping you to ask right?

Ask them to justify how come it cost so much, is your money you have the right to ask, worst case you tell them it is too much and you want it with your stated price.

Those who know how to market themself will bring in samples for you to compare, what grade of polishing is provided? 180 240, 320 or even 600?

Don't get me wrong that I agree edging cost that much, but I know that finishing/polishing work actually costs more manpower than just rough dimensioning.
That's why skills workers can charge a few times more than those without.

cabinets nowadays had been getting cheaper and cheaper, but manpower cost + materials cost had been kept going up. what's that one that had been sacrificed to justify the cost? quality.

that's why there is some cabinet that can cost up to 50k-100k they serve the same purpose but why they cost so much and people still willing to pay for it?

well, I always tell my friends who are renovating, Ikea cabinet system is a world standard system you can always use them as a benchmark to compare(they provide 25years warranty too which brand can do that?).

If you can access IKEA which No harm asking quotation you don't need to buy from them but you know how they charge and how much they allow their contractors to charge for extra works.
*
I do hope that you have chance to walk around few kitchen cabinet showrooms to see the reality.

With such high price, of course we'll ask.
Most if not all of them will say the charges are incurred by other contractors... not them, hence fixed price.
They can only tell the quality must be good and no other details.
Also, as I said earlier, they charge by lumpsum "per hole" instead of size or materials.

I do agree that Ikea cabinet is the benchmark.
Honestly, I did install a 14ft base 10ft wall Ikea cabinets by myself for another house.
To my surprise, the wood quality does give better perceived quality than comparable priced melamine cabinets from other vendors.
If I'm going with wood for new cabinet, I'll take Ikea anytime.

I read your statements all right.  It is fine if you think IKEA is good. They do have some items on sale that are good value.  It has big sophisticated machines that can make even cut of materials and decent looking.  But I would not say it is "world standard" system.  Even IKEA itself never claim themselves to be high end but functional Scandinavian design.

IKEA's melamine furniture is as expensive as plywood furniture made from local cabinet makers.  I guess for u you will choose IKEA's melamine since it is world standard?  I would say some others would go for stronger and better moisture resistance plywood.

I merely addressing your assumption that IKEA keep opening stores world wide then their products must not be bad.  I can give you many more examples of so so products that are popular vs equivalent competitors: Bose, Starbucks, McDonald, etc.  Being popular does not equate to being best or reference.
*
I would agree on some of your points but not all.

IKEA is popular, that's why it can become a standard or reference.
Being popular doesn't mean good but definitely can become a benchmark to compare with others in terms of price, quality and support.

I didn't have a chance to check for plywood cabinets price.
But for melamine cabinets with the well-known kitchen vendors, IKEA price is competitive with better perceived finishing.

The reason is their Subcon charged mobilizing cost+ management cost, which also added up the total cost. those who supply and install solid tops already expected those requests will have the capability to fulfill it with minimum cost, so is not apple to apple comparison.
*
I'm comparing two kitchen cabinet vendors who use subcons for the worktop cutting and polishing activity.
One quoted RM850 meanwhile another quoted RM350.
For me, this is still apple to apple comparison.

Got my new house at JB area. Found a kitchen design company to build my 10ft wet + 15ft dry kitchen. Fully aluminum, hinge and slider all using BLUM, Countertop is Kompacplus, quoted with roughly 32k. Is this amount consider okay or over quoted?
*
It is not possible to compare the price like this because there are way many configuration available.
You have to use your configurations and compare with other Vendors.

For example, I had seen a Aluminium cabinet package asking for RM14k (20'B, 15'W).
It can go up to 20k (or more) after adding the accessories, upgrade door materials, plumbing, quartz hole, additional end panels and etc.

Example 2:
My cabinet size is 23'Base, 10'Wall, 6'Island x 2, 4G with some end panels here and there, no tall unit, no blum.
* Vendor 1: 33k, free 6'x9' wardrobe x 2
* Vendor 2: 35k
* Vendor 3: 50k

Is advisable to use tiles for kitchen top?
I have seen my friends tiled kitchen top start falling. Is it a workmanship issue or tiles shouldn’t be used at all as kitchen top?
*
Likely workmanship issue.

The kitchen concrete top with tiles can last for life.
Quite common in Malaysia houses' wet kitchen to withstand water and heat.
In my old house, it has been there for 20 years without issue.

Of course, the look may not be suitable for everyone.
And if you decide to change it to something else in the future, the dismantling work will be messy.

Hello,

I'm looking to replace one custom cabinet door with clear glass.
The frame can be either white wooden or aluminium.

Now, many cabinet makers have minimum order of certain amount.
They don't accept small order for one door.

Can anyone refer a shop which can accept small order for custom made door?
I have found one in Lazada/Shopee but it doesn't ship glass door...

Already did this.
Most alu/glass shops will not entertain such request too.

That's why I wish to check out if there is any specific vendor willing to do this.

I think more like.. if they just do without coming to measure and self-pickup at their place, can do
If you want them to drop by to measure.. just for one door.. they cannot make money
*
Actually not this case.
I have all the measurements for door siz, hinge locations and picture.
Generally, I can diy the installation without issue.
It's just that most shop will not entertain small custom order.

There are 2 sellers in Shopee can do it but they don't ship clear glass door which is needed by me.
