Can i install ikea kitchen cabinet but for the table top i choose outside from KC maker?
*
Yes you can.

I am doing that right now everything except the back splash plates and work top are IKEA.

My worktop and back splash plate comes from the same supplier as IKEA but is 25% cheaper minus the 25 year warranty.

Can I ask when do you guys start engaging the contractor for kitchen cabinet? Do you guys ask them to come to perform onsite measurement only after you get the keys for your house?
*
After you have keys and if you are doing any renovations in the kitchen such as tiling, plumbing, extensions or electrical then it should be after it is over.

How long is too long for kitchen cabinet to be installed?
Mine started on July 4th, still waiting to be completed T-T
*
Measurement to complete installation should not be more than 3 to 4 weeks, allow for 12 weeks if it is one of the luxury German or Italian branded kitchen cabinets.

Have anyone try IKEA's cabinet?
Is their quality good?

@solsekuin44
I see they offer delivery + installation at extra cost, it is pre-made item so it is expected to fully install within same delivery day.
Not sure about customize cabinet though.
*
It is good quality for the price but if you are installing it on your own then you must definitely know what you are doing and also have the right tools for the job.

Overall as long as you clean up spills and keep it somewhat dry then it will last 20 years without any issues.

One of our houses was fitted with IKEA cabinets in 1999 and it is still in good condition.

Thanks. Sadly that ikea kc kind of high for me. So have to choose kc contractor. I like ikea kc compartment. Is it possible for me to use their drawer etc into kc from kc maker?
*
Yes their cabinets are higher than the locally made ones to cater for their cabinets being designed to an international standard.

You definitely can buy the doors, drawers as well as their hinges and fit it to one made by a KC contractor.

One of the houses my family owns did exactly just this, we liked the oak finishing for the doors, drawers and hinges but we did not care much for the white coloured particle board frames, therefore we bought what we needed and had a contractor build us the frames out of solid cengal wood to the exact dimensions of IKEA cabinets.

Have anyone here have experienced with HDF door kitchen cabinet. Its better then MDF. Its have unique shape that looks like wood cabinet.
I heard poeple said ikea cabinet also HDF.
Recently I got quote on 4g glass cabinet, but once i change the door material to HDF, the price increased around Rm1800 for 21 feet cabinet.
Just like to know that 4g cheaper compare to this HDF?
*
IKEA does not use HDF for the Metod kitchen cabinets. It is MDF.

4G glass finish for the cabinet fronts will always be more expensive.

Wanna ask.
Is it more cost saving if we are planning our kitchen with full Ikea stuff and cabinets?

Or hire a contractor to custom made kitchen cabinet?
*
My most recent kitchen is a 2.2m wide kitchen, inclusive of a built in refrigerator, oven, microwave oven and dishwasher.

It cost me RM7.3k inclusive of the quartz top and acrylic back splash. I am using solid wood doors and drawer fronts.

I did not find a custom kitchen that could do it for less than RM9k and the quality of it was questionable at best.

IKEA cabinets because of its joinery system tend to be sturdier than the locally fabricated ones that are lower priced.

Which material would you choose between MDF and Nyatoh for the kitchen cabinet? My contractor has both materials.
*
I am going to assume it is for the frames, if you have the budget and will live in the house for long term then nyatoh. Otherwise MDF is just fine.

Lack of knowledge was a big turnoff for me. I don’t want to get into trouble later having to guide them like little kids on how I want my KC to be like. I prefer to engage contractor that hire people with actual knowledge.

You can’t go any wrong with signature kitchen, except that you’re paying premium price. But better pay premium price for peace of mind rather than engaging companies like woot and having headache later.

I thought that was an isolated incident but I had the exact same experience with that KC designer.

They were recommended to me by the contractor that was renovating a neighbouring unit.

Weird she did not know the difference between plywood or plyboard. Then she had trouble reading and following instructions, I specifically mentioned I wanted a worktop that is 638mm and she tells me 600mm is sufficient. I tell her I want all the frames to have a backboard she starts telling me a backboard is not needed as the walls are sufficient.

I gave her the specification for a Bosch built-in refrigerator and she designed it in such a way the spot I told her for the refrigerator she made a tall unit with shelves and placed the refrigerator by where my washer dryer is located.

Eff'ing waste of time to deal with some of these types and I just settled with IKEA>
