Dear alanyuppie,
I don't think it's waived as per the letter of offer. It's actually included in your loan along with the MRTA.
Btw, i did not take the MRTA, instead i took an insurance for the home loan. Perhaps some of you planning to purchase can consider this. MRTA cost around 3-4k per person. However insurance, will be slightly more expensive but over time (i'm paying around RM200++ per month) the coverage value does not depreciate. Furthermore if you plan to refinance your house, you need not purchase another MRTA. If you sell your house, you will not loose the value and can transfer to your other house. Also, with insurance, after the coverage period, you get back quite a big sum.
Anybody can tell me how much did the lawyer charge? I presume we have the same fella...
around 4K.....
OCBC offers 2 loan packages......one is Zero Moving Cost with Interest BLR-1.75% while the other is Non-Zero Moving Cost with Interest BLR-1.85%.......
The Loan Amount U borrow still the same for either package (My Opinion only...ask someone to verify)
The only different is the percentage of interest......Bank charges U the loan agreement fee so called lawyer fee .....kua.....by imposed a higher percentage (BLR-1.75%) from there, they gain back the lawyer fee + % for such fee.....If U want to pay the lawyer fee by urself, of course they cannot gain from u bcos Ur interest rate is lower (BLR-1.85%)

my lawyer fees is waiwed, I took a OCBC loan (plus half the MRTA amount) totalling up $190++ K
Ur package is likely to be Zero Moving Cost......
Ur loan interest is BLR-1.75% for the rest of the years???
My Loan Package is BLR-1.5% (1-3), BLR-1.75% (4-36)......
Yes...My repayment period is extended to 36 years....bcos i applied for graduate loan....
But of course I will pay higher amount to the bank for installment, I applied for 36 years just in case....If anything unforseen thing happened, I need not to struggle for huge amount of money to pay for the housing loan....
