It's confirmed that you can't switch between Talk and SMS plans using 122. That option has been removed.

The only way you can switch is by dialling the special. Regarding the switching charge, I'm not so sure about this as I couldn't find relevant information from the site.

It has been stated clearly that once you have converted to Total Plan, you can't revert back to the old plans.

Supposingly the conversion fee should be free as they're promoting more old subscribers to convert to Total Plan.

Hello. Just want to ask, for hotlink users, can we transfer credit from 1 person to another? We'll have to register or something first right? What are the steps?
*
No more registration and PIN required.

Can say so if they know how to do that. You need to format your SMS accordingly.

Unlike DiGi which is not safe; Talktime Transfer is easier by just playing with *128#.

2. saw in the hotlink website,  it says the voice rates (for both calls within or to other operators), there is difference bet. local calls and adjacent/non-adjacent calls. anybody helpful to explain this to me? (particularly the adjacent/non-adjacent part)
*
It used to be flat rate in the old plans (Talk/SMS). They reimplement the adjacent/non-adjacent thing in the introduction of the new plans (Total/Easy).

1st - if ur frenz really have the intention to steal ur credit, it will be sad case then.
2nd - digi not safe? same with maxis too? if the stealer really want to steal ur credit, sure he/she will know well the format, wat is so hard bout that?

Previously, Hotlink Talktime Transfer was using a PIN to safeguard the transaction. They removed it nowadays; maybe due to lots of complaints from subscribers.

Not a big issue to me ... I seldom use talktime transfer.

QUOTE(Rocko @ Nov 24 2006, 10:50 PM)
another quickie.. let's say my friend n i have a hotlink number which came from the same region (eg: both bought n the number is in the central region). this wud mean me making a local call. if one of us calls fr the north (eg: penang), does it mean i'd b charged local call as well or not?

does having the phone number from the same region make any difference in terms of rate charged?  or the rate just depends on the location of the user?
*
The adjacent and non-adjacent depend on the criteria:

1. Current location of the caller AND
2. Where the number called is registered (which region it belongs too).

THe official press release on Maxis 3G in Penang

QUOTE
Maxis does broadband in Penang

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Communications Berhad (Maxis) has expanded its broadband service to Penang.

This will enable Internet connections of up to 768kbps in Tanjung Bungah, Bayan Baru, Bukit Jambul, Pulau Tikus and selected parts of Georgetown, with more areas to follow, according to Maxis.

Maxis chief executive officer, Datuk Jamaludin Ibrahim said, "We have the confidence in our product and will continue to build broadband hub coverage in town centres - where the need is greater - before extending it to the rest of the nation. Our plan is to have Klang Valley, Penang and Johor Bahru adequately provisioned with broadband by the first quarter of next year."

Maxis uses HSPDA (High Speed Data Packet Access), a high-speed upgrade of the 3G network, for residential broadband.

At speeds 3 times faster than current 3G connections and up to 15 times faster than traditional dial up, HSDPA offers consumers greatly improved Internet access to browsing, email, video streaming, online gaming and music downloads.

The company has spent RM5 million to deploy HSDPA across Penang on top of its 3G network investment in delivering affordable, reliable mobile broadband services to its customers.

It is expected that Maxis will invest some RM700 million to build out its broadband services over the next 3 years.

Two broadband packages bundled with home voice service are available, with monthly fees at RM68 and RM98 respectively, inclusive of modem rental.

The RM68 package offers speeds up to 384 kbps, while the latter offers speeds up to 768 kbps. There will be a one time RM100 activation fee and a RM88 installation charge.

Consumers can sign up for a Maxis Broadband at any Penang Maxis Centre and at selected Maxis Broadband dealers.

For more information, go to www.maxis.com.my/broadband.

Logically, you can't. Coz if we cld, there wld be ppl selling them. And maxis wld lose money laugh.gif

QUOTE(farro @ Nov 28 2006, 04:54 PM)
yup..maxis will lose their profit after dat..even now they are tryin to increase their profit by charge us at a higher rates
*
But I thought the redeemed airtime will be lumped together as your total available credit. Correct me if I'm wrong ... Or they did seperate it like DiGi's "Free Voice Calls".

It should be. Dang. I'm no expert in hotlink. I'm a P75 user laugh.gif

I merely thought out that redeemed points can't be transferred, as maxis wld lose money. I didn't read his question properly where he asked specifically for airtime. I miss read it and thought that it's for the points. Well sms points i'm pretty sure you can't transfer. But for the airtime it shld be possible.

But then again, like I said, I'm a postpaid user. So I better just shut my mouth and let the experts here answer smile.gif
*
Well, I guess if the redeemed airtime is lumped together with your current balance, then you may transfer it to anybody you like. tongue.gif

That's why Maxis never want to combine all its various perpaid plans into a single plan like DiGi.
