Hi, it's been a while since I bought a new laptop... But my Asus Zenbook just died an hour ago, so thinking of getting a new one. Really clueless when it comes to tech and very grateful for any tips
1. Budget : 5k to 6.5k 2. Usage : Word, Excel, Browsing, Watching Movies 3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : Not too fussy as it seems most laptops within my budget should be decent
Key priorities - stability and low risk of sudden death.
Sorry if I sound really ignorant. Based on basic Google searching and my limited knowledge I'm gravitating towards Thinkpad X1 or Dell XPS 13 but not really sure what I should be looking for.

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Jun 20 2019, 11:29 PM) If you want best reliability - business grade laptop is the way to go Preferred max weight and min battery life? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM? Max 1.3kg, batt life 6 hours? Don't mind low sRGb or non upgradeable RAM (8GB)

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Jun 21 2019, 01:09 AM) Thinkpads - T480s, X1C6, X390 Thank you. I saw X1C6 for sale on Lenovo website. Just some quick silly questions (hope they're not too annoying) regarding upgrades. 1. Is there a big difference between i5 or i7? 2. Worth paying for 16Gb ram instead of 8? 3. 256 or 512 ssd? Of course I want to upgrade everything....but just seeking advice on what I should prioritise. Slightly OT - My Asus Zenbook died (powers on but perpetual black screen). Can some kind soul please recommend via PM a good laptop repair place to help me either save my laptop or retrieve my files? Thanks in advance.

Interested in buying HP Envy 13, but don't really understand the differences between AH and AQ range. I only use laptop for surfing, Word, Excel and transferring photos from phone to external hard drive.
Budget is 3.5 to 4.5k, but prefer not to overpay for specs I don't really need.

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Aug 25 2019, 12:54 AM) Preferred display size and min battery life? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM? I'm happy with the Envy 13 specs and display, and don't mind non upgradeable Ram as will get either 8 or 16 which should be sufficient for my needs over next 2-3 years. I just don't know what is difference between AH and AQ range... Recently bought a Thinkpad X1C6 (love it loads except for screen or sound system) and T480s (which I returned because dead on arrival). Also got a Dell XPS13 for my dad but this is way over my budget or my needs. Hence now considering HP Envy 13 for basic use.
