I was there at Illegear today. Checked out all the models incl Raven SE-R which they said launched yesterday.

Decided to go with Prodigy in the end. i am not a very heavy user, so i can live with GTX1650 haha. prefer to have slimmer and lighter laptop as I would be moving around quite abit.

But damn, Raven SE-R is a very good deal. haha

I recently saw an advertisement for Illegear Raven SE with specs as below which i think is quite good price. Only it doesn't come with original windows.

I am currently using MSI GL63 8SE-099 which runs on i5 8th gen and RTX2060. I saw some guy here in lowyat forum selling it brand new for around RM4500 only. Should i add some money to get RTX2060 graphic or GTX1650 is sufficient already to handle.

Looking at a Windows laptop to replace my MBP.

Because I'm on the road a lot I would like the machine to be slim/light but at the same time have these requirements:

1) Dedicated graphics card
2) 16GB minimum RAM, 32GB preferred
3) 2 storage slots - Either 2x M2, or 1x M2 + 1x SATA

For these reasons, I'm mainly looking at the new(er) Xiaomi Notebook Pro that comes with the 1050. If there are any other options, I'd like to hear them.

2. Usage  : For MS Office usage, light gaming(optional), browsing
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : 13/14 inch, weight less than 1.5kg. The lesser the better. Having a dedicated GPU is a plus.
4. Mostly will use it for travel and meeting. Currently using 15 inch Lenovo Y510p. Too heavy to carry around for a long time.

My requirements are simple: Normal working use, wish to pick up Adobe skills, thus wish to get one that could support all kinds of high-tech software/ programs (mainly Adobe cz want to do photo and video editing, and also Virtual Box etc). Durable outer layer, lightweight, good battery life, screen around 14 inch, high speed or RAM and long lasting at least 5 years, and wish to have good after-sales service/ long warranty.

Budget: Around RM4k (inclusive Microsoft license + after-sales warranty).

In terms of brand comparison, Dell vs HP vs Lenovo vs Asus vs Acer, which is good/ reliable?

I did some survey in shops, can sifus enlighten me wt's the difference between HDD vs SSD? SSD better or HDD better or combo of both? And is graphic card needed for Adobe/ photos & video editting use?

I'm looking for a notebook to buy. I usually am an Apple Person (iOS Developer) but I've moved away from that and now I'm looking to get something windows related on the budget side of things.

1. Budget : 3.5k
2. Usage  : Predominantly: Media consumption. Also coding. Most of the my work will be cloud based.
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :
In order of importance to me
Display: sRGB and high nits (I'm coming from a Macbook Pro 2015) (screen size doesn't matter). For some reason I prefer glossy over matte. I don't know why.
Storage: 512 SSD (faster is better)
Trackpad: Big
CPU: Don't need something too beefy, but I'd like to stay away from y series. A U series intel or Ryzen works
Battery Life: Would love a decent / good battery life. I understand a non U series would have lower battery life.
Weight: I don't really care at all.
GPU: Not required at all. I'd rather save cost here. Sadly my gaming days are over.
Touch Screen: Don't need it, ideally I don't want it. I'd rather spend the extra money on RAM or a bigger SSD


Honestly, the Huawei mate 13 / 14 seems really appealing. But generally speaking I don't like Huawei as a brand. Personal preference.  Maybe someone else has something similar?
Not into the whole flip / touch thing but if that's the best bang for the buck then so be it.
Doesn't need to be thin, I'd take a good build quality over thin and plastic-y

All is good, the only thing is the graphic card, I'm not sure can it support photoshop and video editing.
