1. Main reason is Y540 don't have 144Hz for customization anymore
2. According to some previous buyers, other bank card also will work, not sure why

I'm also interested in the Legion 5i, 1660Ti variant. I checked the tech specs on Lenovo's website it says: "Up to 15.6" FHD IPS (1920 x 1080), 500 nits, 240Hz, <1ms response time, 100% sRGB, VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, Dolby Vision™ enabled"

I tried adding it to cart, screenshot below:

The display type is "Display Type: 15.6"FHD IPS AntiGlare LED Backlight Narrow Bezel 100%sRGB 1920x1080", but it didn't specify refresh rate. Do all variants have 240Hz including this one? The tech specs above say 'Up to' so I'm not sure.

I don't think Legion 5i got 240Hz option actually, even though spec sheet stated so

All 5i models currently selling are with 144Hz 100%sRGB

1) I see. Is there a way to test/verify the refresh rate and sRGB when the laptop arrives?

2) Also I heard about Ryzen 4000 laptops that offers better price-performance in a month's time or two. Or would this "Lenovo Legion 5i 15 81Y6005JMJ 1660Ti" is actually already a good choice?

Also in the other gaming laptops approval list thread, you mentioned that the Lenovo Legion 5i 15 is 144Hz 72%. May i know the 72% is referring to the sRGB? I thought you mentioned that all 5i models are currently 100% sRGB. Thanks

1. Yes, you can check panel model and panel quality without professional testing tool (I can guide you)
2. Ryzen 4000 mobile offers more multi core performance at a cheaper price, also better power efficiency (reduce heat output, increase battery life). However it's not without weaknesses. But overall it's a better package for laptops IMO. If your priority is gaming, i7+1660Ti would be good

72% NTSC, about >90% sRGB aka high sRGB. Sorry for the confusion

Thanks for the insights.

1) I see, what weakness are you referring to?

2) My priority is gaming > programming with IDEs, running Unity or Unreal Engine > little bit of PhotoShop, Illustrator or Premiere video editing. Would you say I should wait for the Ryzen 4000 laptops? If so, may i know when they would be released (estimated), and what model should I look out for?

3) How are the thermals/heat output and battery life for the Legion 5i i7+1660Ti?

1. Yes I'm referring to the Ryzen 4000 laptops with 1660Ti. With my priority being highest to lowest: gaming > programming with IDEs, running Unity or Unreal Engine > little bit of PhotoShop, Illustrator or Premiere video editing, should I go for the Ryzen 4000 + 1660Ti or the i7 + 1660Ti? My budget can go for the i7 model, but I thought if Ryzen 4000 is good enough for my usage, then can save some money.

2. The thermal data would be great! But in summary, the thermals for both Legion 5i Ryzen 4000 + 1660Ti and i7+1660Ti good?

Actually there are aldy models with Ryzen 4000+1660Ti/2060, it just that none of them I would call 'decent'. You'll lost a bit of performance in games and Adobe programs with Ryzen, but it would be cheaper. The choice is yours

Still pending data from 5i 1660Ti/2060 (haven't officially selling yet in China, therefore no reviews). Expect slightly better results compared to last gen Y540/Y7000SE

Alright, thanks a lot for the insights.
