1. Budget : <2.5k
2. Usage : Purely MS office, web surfing, watching Netflix/ movies. No gaming/ editing/ design
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : Must be 14", weight must be 1.5kg or below, very thin something like the thinkpad 470t. If possible want a really good keyboard like the Thinkpad. RAM could be upgraded to 8gb at least, 16gb would be good for future proof. Must have SSD, at least 256, if can get 500 would be better. Battery life not a priority as will be plug in most of the time, display quality also don't really mind. Want it to be able to last for at least 5 years.

'last at least 5 yrs' - realistically no one can guarantee it

For RM2.5k there aren't much options to choose from. Consider Acer Swift 3 SF314-41-R5UP/R3AS +RAM

Thank you for the suggestion!
How about if I top-up budget to below rm3000?

Can consider refurb Latitude 5400 from Dell outlet (3 yr warranty, with FHD IPS)
*
Alright thanks! How about non - refurb options for below 3k

If you want a more reliable laptop, there isn't a better option (used to have Thinkpad T495 but price has spiked up)
*
I see, saw the x395 used to be around my price range also but sold out dy. What about the Ideadpad S340-14API 81NB009XMJ, is that ok for me?

would still suggest business laptops, Ideapad 3 series is entry level consumer grade

so between the Acer Swift 3 you recommended earlier and this Ideapad S340, the Swift 3 still better choice overall right?

Acer Swift 3 SF314-41-R5UP/R3AS +RAM

Nowadays laptops in general won't last long due to mass production and business tactic, 3-5 yrs would be my best bet
*
Both R5UP & R3AS can upgrade RAM?

yes, 1 upgradeable slot (4GB default is soldered)
*
This seller probably not aware of the extra slot right? Is there really any Swift 3 model with no extra slot? I'm afraid they might wrongly advertised it as Acer Swift 3 SF314-41-R3AS but it's actually another variant with no extra RAM slot.
