Anyone of u that go music centre learn guitar? Or learn urself?
*
that depends on how serious you are. i've been playing around 11years on my own, at my own pace. sure, still not as good as i'd like to be. but that's only because i'm too lazy. laugh.gif .

...and yes, you have the learn the theory to improve. playing songs without knowing the basic theory is really a lost cause.

btw, those with experience on the floyd rose bride, is it a hassle to tune??

thanks.
*
not if you know what you're doing. it's not too difficult once you get use to it. but if you like to change tuning a lot, better get fixed bridge. or be like me, i play everything in 1/2 step because i'm too lazy to change the tuning for different songs laugh.gif.

Isit? Wow..That is great...rclxm9.gif Erm..any guitar that u did recommend for starter like me. I am now currently reading wiki guitar and trying to understand the guitar and its function
*
when buying a first guitar, always cosider what type of music you're into. you must have at least some idea to what type of sound you're after.

reminder: try not to get a tremolo bridged guitar unless you know you'll use it.

hmmm....i dunno about you guys, but i prefer JD's gator grip series. 2.0mm, with rough sand paper like grip. never slip. i can't seem to control much with 1.5mm pick and below. too thin. heck sometimes i play with JD's big stubby, 3.0mm, on my acoustic. maybe i'm just weird laugh.gif. might as well play with 50cents coin.

9 - 42 are super light
10 - 46 are light

yeah i slowed it down but still working on it. most probably its the alternate picking when i 'jump' across strings.. still too used to directional picking
*
i think 9-42's are light. super light are those .8's .

believe me, i had the same mind set once. but after getting use to it, it's pretty cool.

sure the green is a put off, but damn the price is tempting laugh.gif. if i don't already have a floyd rose guitar, i'd probably try to gather the fund for it.

somemore i play in different tuning a lot.
besides, the song i play nid no whammy bar, due to my skill.  tongue.gif

but yah, if i dun hav a LFR guitar, that guitar sure will make my GAS mode activated.  thumbup.gif
*
ahhh...the very bane of FR system, alternate tuning. i use to switch between 1/2 and full tuning too, but now i play everything in 1/2 laugh.gif. it's cool to sound different brows.gif . drop D and C is different case though.

everdying:

the standard guitar is 25-dot-something inch scale right? so a 24-dot-something is smaller scale?

yeah, i have the video. agree that the sound is a wee bit too bassy, but then again, they never sound the same on each live performances. "no leaf clover" sounds pretty sweet without the orchestra. kirk also tries to prove once and for all he can still do solo on clean biggrin.gif. "look ma', no wah"

anyway, it's good to see the band that inspired me to play guitar back in action. really missed newsted presence though. the backup vocals is just not the same anymore.

5 springs may effect the guitar sounds in terms of there's more mass to transfer the vibration to the body.

i've blocked my old grx40 before, and there's truely a different in tone. but i use a wooden block. tremol-no seems to just replace a spring, maybe there's not enough mass to make much tonal difference.

^why not try it unplugged? usually, you can feel the difference of vibrations around the body and the difference in tonal quality. from what i experienced, tonally it became fatter/fuller and there's more vibrations especially near the bridge. if there's no difference in vibration around the body, then yeah, the tremol-no does not have enough mass to transfer it. maybe add some springs to help? better yet, a block laugh.gif .

this was from a quotations i got march last year:

"LTD
KH-602 - RM 5699
KH-202 - RM 2999
For KH-602 and KH-202 will only be available around August 2006 cause we are out of stock now. Maybe you can consider KH-603 and KH-203; the price is same as KH-602 and KH-202."-guitar collection

yeap the KH series is the only FR eclipse around for mass market.

a question:

how necessary is it to adjust the neck(in percentage) if you change your string gauge?

i'm thinking of changing from .09 to .10, but really don't wanna mess with the guitar's neck.

if you're changing from 9-42 to 10-46, there shouldn't be much problems. i changed mine recently and only minor adjustments had to be made
*
does it involve the neck? i'm accustomed to the floyd rose adjustment, but the neck is too troublesome. if it only involve the bridge adjustment(action, tremolo springs..etc), i'm gonna switch on the next string change.

well, probably need to adjust height to compensate the thicker string(if your action is crazy low). by adjusting the height, the intonation may and may not be affected, depends on how much the action was adjusted. the neck, i myself am not sure. like most people said on my previous question, it depends on the neck itself. necks don't reacts the same. just go trial and error biggrin.gif.

anyone got any suggestions for my guitar besides bringing it to a tech? laugh.gif

are you adjusting the trust rod with tuned strings? if that's the case, you can try loosening the string then adjust the trust rod. the string tension may effect the trust rod movement.

easiest way to check for neck bow is to tune your guitar, hold it at playing position and fret the 1st and last fret of the low E string. same as using straight edge.
