truss rod should always be adjusted with the strings at the tuning that you use.

yes, it's true. what i meant was that losening the strings so that the screws can move, then tune again. sometimes the trust rod won't budge with tuned strings. that's what happened with my old grx40.

yep. besides, if you can't control the output of those high gain pickups, it'll only make your sound noisier than before.

good thing i have time. When i want to learn a particular song desperately, i'll practice like mad. But once i  know the song, i'll be so lazy to practice anymore. sad.gif

haha...same condition here. but usually, i'll tend to play the songs i like a few dozen times 'till i can actually play them in the dark while closing my eyes laugh.gif. this way, i'll memorized the hand movement and in the case i forgot the note, i'll just really on my hands.

too lazy to practice legato and stuff if it's not in the songs i like. besides, why pratice when i'm not gonna use it?....hey, that's a cool motto laugh.gif.

question:

what is the advantage/reason of using large/jumbo frets? i see many higher end guitars using it, but don't really know why. does it effect playability and sounds or merely prolonged the frets' lifespan?

more sustain.
makes bending much easier cos you can dig into the frets, while still having the same low action.
of cos the ultimate is a scalloped fretboard, but thats too much tongue.gif

ohhh.....understood.

You're looking at the wrong place.
There are a few factors that can be contributed from the extra mass of jumbo frets towards the length of the string vibration. (Whether you take it as a simple harmonic motion or you want to purely look at it as a wave function)
Such as elastic potential energy or you can derive an equation from Newtons Second Law.
For elastic potential energy you the k constant is equivalent to mω^2.
For Newtons Second Law you assume tetha, the angle of the amplitude from the equilibrium position(it forms a small circle) as a small angle and delta m = µ delta L where µ is the strings linear density.
Then apply F = ma because at the moment of amplitude of the string, where the delta is taken it has a centripetal acceleration to the center which is at its equilibrium position.

err.....ok. although i don't see the connection to the question. you sound like a professor (you know, the guy who understands but don't know how to explain). j/k laugh.gif
