yawn.gif yawn.gif yawn.gif guess intel is getting more cache to get higher performance. Penryn wil be a bored product, but nahalem will sure make some show.

Something to drool on : http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=40942

nothing to drool on if there are no numbers to show its performance increase from existing core arch line up. well, i remain doubt to see any performance benefits penryn over conroe, other than gaming and other cache intensive apps (and apps which can utilize SSE4). even so, the performance increase wont b much either. the only thing that is so hot about penryn is its ability to clock higher.

stick to my own core 2 duo first...
later only change to quad....
oh yeah , they only use P35 mobo... if they test on X38 mobo... what would the oc result be?hmm.gif

i dont think u can get a penryn processor and just put it on ur existing mobo. im nt really sure about this, but from what i read over the past few months, penryn need a new mobo to support as its voltage requirement is different from conroe.

VRM11.0 not necessarily need 12 phase voltage. Penryn, IMHO, just a 45nm proc with SSE4 and added cache. is't? if clockspeed start from 3Ghz, i'm going to get it lol

"Motherboard developers will have to make some minor changes to support [Penryn]. We can't guarantee that a person could just plug the chip into every motherboard on the market today."

taken from dailytech

this will hurt intel's sales a bit, ppl are reluctant to change a new mobo just to get a new cpu than just getting a new cpu and plug in on their existing mobo. and this will further hurt intel's sales if K10 perform as what amd claim. by changing to a new mobo and cpu, ppl might just opt for better performing platform.
