Haven't seen any news from any of the reliable websites yet, but logically, it should not be too long already...

The increased cache doesn't make THAT big a difference really. There are quite a few other changes besides just the cache, if you have been following.

QUOTE(kmarc @ Jul 30 2007, 01:05 AM) nothing to drool on if there are no numbers to show its performance increase from existing core arch line up. well, i remain doubt to see any performance benefits penryn over conroe, other than gaming and other cache intensive apps (and apps which can utilize SSE4). even so, the performance increase wont b much either. the only thing that is so hot about penryn is its ability to clock higher. |

Anyone can confirm this? I read from dailytech and found out that Penryn is for mobile while wolfdale if for dual core and yorkfiled is for quad core. So, actually we are not waiting for mobile parts right?

So, actually we are not waiting for mobile parts right? Nope. Penryn is the whole 45nm package - the Penryn family of new processors. This includes the dual-core version (wolfdale) and the quad-core version (yorkfield).... |

Apparently, the Penryn family requires a VRM 11.0 compliant mobo, which requires a 12-phase power regulation. The P35-DQ6 IS a 12-phase mobo. Mobo's like the P35-DS3 is only 6-phase....However, this remains to be seen as all P35 are supposed to support Intel's next generation 45nm CPUs...... |

Bios update the most likely solution IMO, or not looking back at the requirements

Some mobo maker like asus maybe will enable their 965P mobo to support Penryn. Maybe some modification on low level programming will enables them.
