Dear all,

Need your help.

I suffer gout attack quite frequent, sometime mild, sometime more serious. Everytime go to the family doctor, she will just prescribe me the Colchicine plus some pain relief medicine.

I would like to know if there any supplements that i can take for long term to keep my uric acid level at bay?

I have searched the internet, there is something like SOLARAY URIC ACID Control, seem smany ppl said very good, but unfortunately, cannot find inMalaysia. If order from USA, sure kena block by Kastam.

I would like know the gout sufferer in the forum, what supplements should i take to stop having the gout flare up?

Internet too much info, i really do not know which is true..

I had gout too. Just change the diet. No beef or pork and drink green tea daily. So far all clear for the last 3 years.

I'm a long time gout sufferer, I have gout attack at least 3 - 5 times a year, and other time just sort of mild attack with soreness on the side of big toe.

I'm sorry to say, no supplements out there will help you to keep your uric acid level at bay. Contrary to what's being said online, majority are not true. The only way to keep your uric acid at bay is yourself. Your lifestyle is what determine your uric acid level.

Watch out for what you put in your tummy, and exercise more, keep yourself hydrated, get enough sleep everyday, reduce stress level, and do not starve yourself. Stay away from high purine food and alcohol. Search online for a list of high purine food to stay away.

Colchicine is only used for flare up, what it does it keep the swelling down and it's useless after a couple of days taking it. So, it will not reduce your uric acid.

Allopurinol is what you take to inhibit the production of uric acid in your body. Now, I will not recommend taking it at all as there are many side effect to it. The only reason one would have high concentration level of uric acid it is due to poor execration of uric acid in the first place. By stop it from producing more uric acid only addressing one part of the puzzle, but you still have the high level of concentration in your body that needs to be execrated out of your body.

But please do not mistaken, having high level of uric acid does not always causes gout flare up. There are people with uric acid level off the chart, yet they never have a gout attack in their lives at all. For those who are unfortunate, like you and myself, the only way for us to survive through it is to monitor our uric acid level.

In case you haven't realize, there are multiple things that cause gout flare up. And not all gout patients have the same trigger. You need to find out what's triggering the flare up. The only way to find out is by process of elimination. Believe it or not, outer trauma can also causes gout flare up, ie. stub your toe on the leg of a table or chair.

Gout is one of the annoyance in our lives that can cause more harm than good. It also affect our livelihood. If it starts to affecting your job, you should get a doctor letter for HR.

I'm sorry I don't have any magical cure for you. I, myself also battling gout for more than 10 years now. The way I keep it at bay is to be wise with what I put in my mouth, and stay away from alcohol, especially beer. I wish you all the best, and hope that you find a way to overcome this disease.

I've been having very bad gout attacks on my big toe and ankles. Despite staying away from rich foods, meat, beans, etc, the gout attacks persisted.

I decided to finally see a rheumatologist for help as it was seriously affecting my quality of life. Allopurinol has nasty side effects in some people including liver damage and Toxic Epidermal Necrosis (your skin falls off and you die of liver failure).

I was prescribed Febuxostat. 6 months on, I haven't had a single gout attack since.

For info, Colchicine is a poison, and should not be taken on a long term basis. it is very damaging to your body. And don't rely on pain killers and NSAIDs like nurofen they are bad for your heart.

HI there, in fact got to really watch out the Purine content in stuffs u take. As most of us know red meat like beef, pork and seafood, but dont forget about avoiding brocolli, cauliflower, taofu, chicken wings, internal organs. Those are very high in purine too.

Exercise more and keep a healthy weight and no beer.

That will prevent u from forming Tophy.

Your write up has alot of help but there is this forum,
Which has worldwide pooling of resources and knowledge on this disease.

https://www.goutpal.com/

This guy who runs the forum has exact details how to treat this disease. I am still astounded that in this day and age doctors still mismanage treatment of this ancient disease.

Yes tart cherry helps alleviate attacks by binding with c reactive proteins and inhibits inflammation, gout attacks.

But it is nothing more then a momentary band aid to your underlying condition.

All sufferers I advise you to proceed to goutpal website forum.

It will take years to clear your joints of the crystallized uric acid (uric acid crystals) which are sharp crystal needles that eventually reach a point that causes inflammation response.

Just as everyone is different so is the point that uric acid crystallizes. Which explains why some people can get away with very high blood uric acid readings while some are not so lucky.

Eventually attacks will become more and more frequent over time if you allow dangerous blood uric acid levels to continue.
Please refer to goutpal uric acid danger level chart. It is extremely detailed and accurate.

If there is a cure please share it on goutpal.com we have been searching the earth for it.

Hi, I was a gout-sufferer for years until I change my diet.

When my gout attack, it lasted for weeks. I tried all sort of supplements and traditional medicine, but all the same. Weirdly enough, peanut butter sorta help with my pain hahaha... at last Doctor told me if continue, then have to start taking med.

After researching online about controlling gout with diet, I change my diet. I have not had an attack since (touch wood)...I saw my uric acid level fell in just 3 months time. Now I have been clear of gout for 3 years.

But my diet was quite extreme for many people, I went on a plant-based diet. Means cut out all animal product including milk and eggs. But in less than a year, my uric acid level has dropped to normal range after 7-8 years.

After about 2 year, I back on eating seafood, and uric level has maintain good until this day.

Hope it helps with your situation..I can still remember the pain from gout attack... scary stuff man

All the best!

Supplement For Gout:

1. Bromelain
Bromelain is used for reducing inflammation. Bromelain causes the uric acid crystals to decompose thus relieving you from the pain associated with gout. If taken regularly, bromelain may also prevent repeated gout attacks.

2. Serrapeptase
Serrapeptase would be an excellent solution to help fight back against the issues that come along with Gout. The natural enzymes is outstanding for reducing pain in the body and helping to reduce swelling overall, this can help reduce pain in the event of a gout attack. Something to note is that Serrapeptase must be taken on an empty stomach and continuously to reach a therapeutic

3. Black Cherry
Black cherry juice contains anthocyanins. These are antioxidants that give dark red and purple fruits and vegetables their color. They may help relieve pain caused by gout.

PS: Don't take all 3 together, choose only 1 type. Better u rotate to see which one is suitable for u.
