Not sure what to do, found out they gave me Realtek RTL8852AE WiFi 6 802.11ax PCIe Adapter instead of Intel Wifi 6 AX-200 as stated in spec.

Anybody have the same issue?

wow, when was this purchased? I got the Legion 7 with the exact same specs as yours in June and it was just almost RM7k after discounts. The Legion 5 Pro was also only slightly cheaper by RM200 back then. So no brainer to get Legion 7 instead. But I had to wait until last week to receive my laptop. Thank god I ordered it earlier as the prices now are crazy.

Also had issues with the laptop:

1) right speaker died right out of the box. thank god for Lenovo Support Ultimate. Tech came onsite next day to fix it.
2) Killer AX1650x wifi card is shit. Drivers are horrible, even if it has same tech as AX200. Speed keeps dropping. Had to get an Intel AX210 to solve the issue.
3) where can i buy the 300w power adapter? No place in Plaza Low Yat has it. Even Lenovo Malaysia does not sell them. They say have to special order from China. They only have the old 230w charger.

The Legion 7 (AMD)

I should have checked this thread before purchasing my Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 2 from their website.

Bought on 15 Sept and till today still haven't received the laptop. All sorts of delays on their part.

Should have just gotten a Dell.

Lenovo sucks balls!!!

LOL. I ordered my Legion 7 in early June. Just got the laptop last week. 3 months+ waiting period. ETA kept updating and changing every 10 days. I complained, they said either wait or cancel. Prices have gone way up now for Legion 5 and 7 laptops, so luckily did not cancel. Good luck to you.

My Lenovo purchase experience has been so disappointing I'm now worried about Lenovo's post sale service like warranty or damage claims.

Anybody have any experience with claiming warranty? Are they trustworthy? Or is it as painful as just getting the laptop.

i got the Lenovo Ultimate Support, which promises next business day onsite. They really do come onsite the next day. Not sure about the other plans though.

Bought this on August 30th, received on 20th September,  i think legion 7 currently only have 3060, very good deal for u to get 3070.

My wifi card is realtek, after update it is fine and problem free, but I order AX210 anyway.

Why do you need another 300W adapter, yours come with slim adapter right.

Legion 7 almost close to 8.4k now and only come with 3060, I think legion 5 pro is better deal.

yeah, very lucky to get the 3070 version. i think they took it out (plus the 3080 option) because they have to promote the Legion 7i, which only has 3060 and 3080 version. looks like 3070 is in very short supply.

The AX210 is stable. i had the AX200 in my previous laptop, also no problems. but this killer card has bad drivers and their killer control centre is crap.

i need another adapter to leave at the office because i travel a lot and don't want to keep taking out my charger.

not really, still will take few days for the technician to come based on their schedule and parts availability
*
then i was lucky as i had a speaker issue right after i got my laptop out the box. gave a call to their support line in the morning and the tech was arranged for the next day. maybe for bigger issues, you would have to wait a bit longer for parts and availability i guess.

they even offered a 1 to 1 replacement because it was less than a week after receiving the laptop but the waiting period is at least 4 weeks. sweat.gif

hi all sifu, can suggest whether shud i buy online or buy locally from distributor like bright star etc?

im looking for thinkpad L15 gen 2 for my parent so i cuz 1 with intel graphics only (remove MX450 to save cost) and add on 2 year onsite warranty + 2 year accident warranty (the spec is 11th gen i5 + 8g ram + 256gb ssd)

with promo code thinksep i get price 3.5k (even cheaper than i ask cs for discount !)
*
as mentioned, if you don't mind waiting at least 4-5 weeks, then it's a good deal. and yes, it's safe to order online from the website and they package their laptops very well b4 shipping. but they are not very subtle in their packaging, i.e. if you buy a Legion laptop from them, the whole box will have big LEGION wordings on it for everyone to see. very tempting for someone to "misplace" it on the way to you.

if you want it immediately, then buy from local Lenovo shop. you can always diy upgrade the parts to the specs you need later.

I want to ask anyone having problem with the wifi card and manage to solve it? I have turn off the "Auto Turn Off" but connection is not stable. Connect and disconnect.

Reported to Lenovo, since they gave me different wifi card and their reply is "the machine that you have purchased was supposed to come with Mediatek wifi card and not Intel wifi card as published."

Gave 2 options ,
1. Full refund
2. 5% discount.

Full refund probably I will be paying more for next purchase..

Is changing Wifi card easy? will it void the warranty?
From Lazada, Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 11AX  is selling around RM100..installation is the risky part..
*
Mediatek wifi cards do not have the most stable connection, but should do the job. what laptop are you using? if you are running the Lenovo Vantage, do not activate "network boost" or you're gonna have a bad time.

i do not recommend full refund since new laptop prices now are too high for lower specifications.

changing the wifi card is very easy and does not void warranty. the hardest part is removing the back cover of your laptop.

Frequent disconnect is  ranting.gif  ranting.gif  ranting.gif  .. Even when the lenovo support asked to remote in.. i cannot get the wifi up, end up using LAN cable.
Lenovo Legion 5 2021
Ya the cover.. saw the Youtube.. looks easy .. if you do it before..

I notice the models for Legion no longer state what Brand.. only features.. e.g. Wi-Fi 6, 802.11AX (2x2) & Bluetooth® 5.1.
*
i also replaced my Killer 1650x wifi card, which was suppose to be good, but gave problems just like yours. so i got an AX210 card instead and everything is good now. replacement is easy and straight forward. the youtube videos help.

i also noticed that lenovo no longer states what wifi card you're getting (unless it's the killer card for the Legion 7/7i). i guess they cannot provide the Intel AX200 card anymore. either mediatek or realtek are the options now and you can't even choose.

may i know where you get your AX210 and how much? Is it not overkill to get AX210 instead of AX200 unless your router/modem support Wifi 6E? thank you..
*
i got it from Shopee. It's not that much more expensive than an AX200 card, about RM180. so might as well future proof. still, an AX200 card is also more than sufficient for now.

u can try changing the connection mode from AX to AC, see if it improves the connection while waiting for ur AX200

do note AMD cpu can only use AX200, AX210 is for intel only
*
i'm using the AX210 in my Legion 7 AMD (Ryzen 7 5800H). so far so good....but I only have an Asus Wifi6 router, not 6E. so cannot test 6E standard.
