TLDR

- Bought a lenovo laptop on its website on 9 October 2020.
- Stated delivery within 8 weeks at time of purchase
- Lenovo lied, and shipping date is end January 2021 (4 months after)
- Cancelled order, and request refund on 26 October 2020
- Lenovo has't refunded in 2 weeks, calls and emails lenovo
- Lenovo ignored, and just say wait, we check our system
- Send an email to bank, cc BNM, OFS, KPDNHEP
- Bank refunded in 2 days. cool2.gif

IMO not many of us know that with credit cards, there's a greater amount of consumer protection in case of unfortunate incidents where we need to dispute transaction with merchants. As we can use intermediaries (banks, card issuers (mastercard/visa/amex), BNM, OFS, KPNDHEP) to ensure that our rights as consumers are well-protected.

In my case, Lenovo sucks balls to the max. At the time of my purchase, its website shows that the item will be shipped within 8 weeks. I made my order, paid, and wait. One week after that, lenovo portal shows my laptop is shipping in November, a few days later, it changed to December, and a few days after that, changed again to late January 2021.

I am well-aware that AMD Ryzen CPU now has a worldwide shortage, but is it so difficult for Lenovo to estimate their shipping date? If it ships in 4 months, just write 4 months la, don't la lie to people and say it ships in 8 weeks.

My experience with refund with other companies, are normally quite quick, ie less than a week. After 2 weeks of not getting refund, this thing is starting to get on my nerves.

Wrote a long email, and copied to BNM (bnmtelelink@bnm.gov.my), OFS (enquiry@ofs.org.my), and KPDNHEP (eaduan@kpdnhep.hep.gov.my) on 7 November (Saturday)

BNM replied that they noted, OFS called and tell me to call them within a week, if there's no development from HSBC.

HSBC immediately replied within 1 working day (9 November) and say will investigate and get back to me within a week.

HSBC refunded me on 10 November rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

Did lenovo charge you full amount? Mine one only charged rm1 for verification, and full amount when the order is shipped.
But i agree that the experience of their online ordering is very bad. I called to complain about my purchase, that still in waiting to ship, is cheaper now. The customer service ended up offering me a partial refund, but subject to approval from their management.  confused.gif
And this morning i checked the shipping schedule again, ETA from 30 Nov become 26 Dec  mad.gif
so next week have to call them again  ranting.gif

Yes they charged me full amount, because the agent keyed in the credit card for me, as I can't make payment from my end. Keep on error error error.

Expected to ship tomorrow. But not even released to manufacturing yet. bruce.gif

Ordered "ready-stock" thinkpad T14s from the website. Quoted shipping within 7 days, ended up close to 2 months. Not even custom made.

Hmm, my laptop is shipped from Hong Kong. Not Hefei, China like other people. Can't wait to receive it tomorrow. Waited almost 2 months for this.

Even with 3 to 6 days delivery it may end up more too 😀.
So like the one reply above u.. his experience is also like mine. Now baru clear custom at Shanghai from Hebei. I order on 10th of November which they said 2 weeks. I got email saying delay till 21st Nov but i wrote to them saying I need it urgent and suprisely 2 days after it was shipped on 5th Dec. 😂😂😂

My 3-6 days order ended up being 2 months. Never trust estimate put on lenovo website. Full of lies.

While I do agree that the estimated date are only estimates...but surely it has to be on best effort or reasonable expectation basis.
To advertise and represent it as 6-8 weeks is already an estimate. Hence, any delay or changes ought to be within the 6-8 weeks range.
But to ask a customer who had made the order and indicate that the shipment is delayed to 5 months is nothing short of fraudulent misrepresentation.

That is my beef with Lenovo because they had initially gave an estimate and subsequently change the delivery date unilaterally. The customer had by then confirmed the order based on the information they represented. Of course the customer could cancel the order but that's beside the point.

Thus, like I said unless one is not bothered to wait, the process is acceptable as the end product is brilliant.

Totally agree. weeks turn into months. Gross misrepresentation. Might as well put range is 1 week-30 weeks.

Okay they just push back the shipment date , should I email them and opted a refund?
It listed 6-8 weeks delivery , but this is more than 2 months..

They already charged your credit card? Or you paid with bank transfer?

If credit card, than easier for you to get refund. If bank transfer, I suggest you to just wait, because god knows when or if they will refund you.

Hi sifus, I'm looking to buy a T14 AMD from Lenovo Malaysia website and I stumbled across this forum about the overall experience and CS. So basically this is a laptop my parents are buying me for uni and they're a little bit skeptical about buying expensive electronics online. Should I go ahead and order? Seems like alot of hassle to deal with shipping problems with Lenovo Malaysia. I stay near Shah Alam if that helps.

If I order are there any steps I need to take? Not in a hurry to receive the laptop, just want to make sure it arrives in 1 piece. If there are problems upon arrival, where do I take it to? First time buying expensive electronics online, esp since its not my own money I'm afraid of the risks. Thanks in advance.

Go ahead. T14 amd is more than good enough for studies. I got myself T14S, a slimmer and lighter version with longer battery life. Very happy with it thus far. Super fast, and crazy long battery life. Or if you're at it, you might wanna look at x13 too.

Once you use thinkpad keyboard, you'll never want to use other laptop keyboard anymore.

Everything else is quite smooth. The only thing is very long shipping time. Expect 1-2 months. If you're very lucky, you will get it in less than a month.

Unless you're a gamer, you can go for legion. I don't play serious games, more towards word, excel, photoshop. So thinkpad t14s works perfectly.

Dude, I got the same problem with you.
Did you entered the same shipping and billing address as your cc?
Also, did the bank charge you when error error?
