Thought I'd share mine, Legion 5 Ryzen7 5800H with RTX3070 and other bits of accessories. Pretty please with it so far and I preferred the FHD 165HZ panel as I will be plugging it into an external monitor. I'm more conscious about the battery life when I'm on the road. ![]() Really liking the RGB keyboard but I wished there were more customisable options ![]() Legion XXL mouse pad ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by Kelvw: May 23 2021, 12:06 AM blur19755, drloveplenty, and 2 others liked this post

QUOTE(chiahau @ May 22 2021, 10:37 PM) QUOTE(Mrsaitama @ May 22 2021, 08:36 PM) Yeah, I'm currently residing in the UK. I got mine the next day from the retailer however we do have the same slow and late shipment if ordered directly from Lenovo itself. I almost bought the Legion5 Pro when it was available and at almost the same price as Legion 5 but delivery was due in August. It's way too long and as mentioned, I didn't need a QHD on a laptop. Otherwise, the specs are similar-ish and I wanted a less gamer like looking laptop case. I'll be looking to add a second NVMe next too. This post has been edited by Kelvw: May 23 2021, 12:15 AM |

QUOTE(yuhuuu @ May 27 2021, 06:35 PM) Unfortunately you can't assign individual colours per-key although I believe the keyboard is quite capable as demonstrated in its presets. I don't know why Lenovo did not implement it. You can assign various keys but it'll be just one colour. yuhuuu liked this post

QUOTE(chiahau @ May 28 2021, 06:22 PM) So far everything seems okay. Trying out games this weekend to see how it holds up against the hype. Only thing to nitpick is probably the CS that comes with this brand. Really need improvement to retain customers. I just bought some games to test it out too, will try some over the weekend if the download isn't too slow. I have to say the laptop is good at keeping a low thermal. I did try rendering at Cinebench at Performance mode, the fans were spinning up like a plane lol. However, I'm impressed with the Ryzen's performance. You need a 44" super ultrawide next |

QUOTE(chiahau @ May 29 2021, 02:17 AM) Yeah I plan to peel it away carefully over the weekends. Having all the time in the world now coz of incoming lockdown soon Nice review Yeah, pretty impressed with the thermals, runs pretty cool even for some newer games. It cools down pretty fast too, from a toasty 70 to 50+ in a mere few minutes. My only few complaints are as follows :- » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « What I like about it :- » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « As for monitors, I plan to get either an Aorus 42 inch or a LG OLED CX1 48 inch. I am a sucker for native resolution and I believe both those monitor are pretty sweet my usage. However, I am somewhat inclined with the LG mainly because it's an OLED panel and it's impossible to downgrade from that if I were to commit P.S - If you do play any multiplayer games, we could always get some casual games in Those are pretty sweet big screens! Would love to see the setup when you get them. yuhuuu liked this post

QUOTE(hackez_mx @ Jun 12 2021, 01:43 PM) ![]() I just received my Legion 7 this week but I wonder why the RTX 3070 only runs at max 8x 3.0 but not 16x 4.0? I already upgrade with 2TB WD black SN750 x2. I wonder if my SSD shares the PCI-E lane with GPU? |

Just purchased a 2tb Crucial P5 NVMe SSD for the Legion 5. Just thought I'd share this to those who are on the fence of upgrading in the future. Btw this is a PCIe 3 but I'm not sure if the Legion would support PCIe 4? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It was installed on the Legion 5 (Gen 6) which comes with a SSD thermal pad and cover which I presume acts as a heatsink spreader. It's being used as an additional secondary drive as the main boot SSD drive SKHynix is equally as fast. This particular Crucial P5 is known to be quite hot in all the reviews I've seen and I was a little worried especially for a laptop. I'm glad Lenovo included the heatsink/cover plate as I've seen some Legion 5 especially with 60watt battery doesn't come with one but instead occupied with a 2.5 SSD caddy. ![]() ![]() At idle the Crucial P5 is around 35c and whilst at load with CrystalDiskMark, I'm getting 63c max In comparison to the SKHynix, idle is 43c and load at 56c Temperature wise, it isn't too bad but I guess I had heatsinks to help manage the heat. I was worried initially about super high temperature but if you have the Legion 5s, Pros or 7s, this shouldn't be an issue. Speed is pretty good and I'm getting speeds close to as advertised. Also I've transferred 32GB files in around 32secs between SSD drives. Overall I couldn't be any happier. Btw Love the small little details behind the back cover ![]() This post has been edited by Kelvw: Jun 23 2021, 08:43 AM ze2, Casperwinde, and 1 other liked this post

QUOTE(chkwong @ Jun 23 2021, 08:31 AM) I'm in UK atm, and I bought it through Amazon for £170 (MYR 980) as we had a 2 day Amazon Prime sale. Otherwise it's £282 (MYR 1,600) which is insanely expensive. chkwong liked this post

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Jun 23 2021, 09:40 AM) Yeah, I'm not too fussed. I just preferred a less gamer looking machine and a lower res screen to extend battery when travelling. Otherwise it's connected to an external monitor most of the time. QUOTE(jhleo1 @ Jun 23 2021, 10:32 AM) No issues but I'm not messing with anything else on the board. I make sure I''m discharged of any static first. I did killed a couple of RAMs many years ago at work as I was on a carpeted flooring. Lesson learned lol...It was an expensive one as we were using Silicon Graphics machines. |

For some of you that may be interested. The SKHynix drive that comes with the Legion 5 is pretty speedy. ![]() In comparison to the Crucial P5 2TB NVMe ![]() Just for heck of it and probably inaccurate, I enabled Momentum Cache on the Crucial drive which pages memory to the RAM. The boost is insane You could try downloading Crucial’s Storage Executive from its website. I'm not sure if it works for non Crucial drives but worth trying it out. How do you enable that? Can share the steps or configuration? Since my laptop have loads of RAM, this might even speed up the SSD further. There's an option in the software to enable Momentum Cache. |

I've not found an answer anywhere but incase anyone is wondering if their Legion5 RTX3070 could handle a 49" Super UltraWide monitor, I'm happy to say 'Yes' and without any issues so far. It is able to drive the 5140x1440 resolution. I've manage to get about 90 - 100fps on Horizon 4 with Ultra Settings, HDR enabled. ![]() ![]() jhleo1, Helpmeplis, and 3 others liked this post
