but the price for a pedal just for changing the volume, is that too much? So I was wonder can I get a compressor pedal and use it as a booster, is the volume loud enough to give the guitar solo a nice boost?

Try using an EQ pedal..the Danelectro one, that's cheap. The last time I asked the guitarmalaysia guy, he didnt have them though.

Usually compressors have a gain knob. So theoretically you can use it as a gain booster if you turn off the compression (ratio 1:1). Whether or not it sounds nice is a different story

those expensive clean volume boosters are meant to add more gain to an already overdriven signal without coloring the sound.

any other cheap ones will definitely change your sound abit.
and since you want cheap, you can also look at the Boss SD-1, brand new around RM160.
guys like zakk wylde and richie sambora used it as boosts for solos.

sometime for clean boost, koz my screamer even the gain knod turned all the way down, still got a little bit of gain....the tune is not clean...

Another thing is love the screamer sounds too much, so i turn it on most of the time, thts y need an extra booster for it... tongue.gif

you can always try looking for a used Boss GE-7.

that behringer booster sounds more like a equalizer anyway, but obviously with limited controls tongue.gif

if you place it b4 distortion, it will of cos effect the distortion sound, even tho its not on since only the expensives ones have true bypass.

best you place it at the end.
