Things You Need To Know about MAXIS Superfastttt

As you all know, MAXIS recently launched their Superfast which is basically 300, 500 and 800Mbps speeds for both Home and SME. In order to be eligible, you need to be in FTTH area (Sorry VDSL people, ya still stuck on 30mbps). You may have to change BTU as those on the older GPON BTUs WILL NOT be able to attain such speed (as my colleague said u will never hit such speeds even if its the end of the world).

CAT 5e cable (minimum) is a MUST to attain those speeds as well as your LAN ports on the router must be 1Gbps compliant. The newer BTUs have 1Gbps WAN port which is a must. Now we come to packages.

Package A 300Mbps/50Mbps
Basic crap @RM149 plus offer to buy the AirTies Mesh Router @RM300 per piece (A pair will set u back RM600)

Package B 500Mbps/100Mbps
All the basic crap @RM219 plus free 2x units of AirTies Mesh Routers and

Package C 800/200Mbps (this is a bit crappy as the upload does not hit 200 but only 150 during most trials)
The same crap as 500/100mbps @RM299.

Be back later with the SME packages

100Mbps or faster is only worth the extra RM if you're only interested in Malaysian only internet.

So not really "internet" but "nationalnet"

If you really looking for internet:
speeds to Singapore are max 60mbps
speeds to Mumbai, China/Japan are max 20mbps
speeds to middle east, Australia, etc. are max 15mbps
Speeds to Europe/USA are max 10Mbps

I called support, no got an email from them somewhere, if it would make a difference if I would be upgrading.

Like if I upgrade from 100Mbps to 800Mbps if that would mean my speed to USA would upgrade from 10 to 80Mbps

Support gave me a clear NO!

If right now you get 10Mbps to the USA with a 100Mbps connection you'll get exactly 10Mbps to the USA with a 800Mbps according to support.

So everyone using nationalnet can upgrade if they want
Everyone using internet no need to upgrade as all connections to destinations outside of Malaysia are capped/limited anyway far below the 100Mbps

Change to:
| Lo-Fi Version
0.0120sec    1.80    5 queries    GZIP Disabled
