In the end, I didn't buy any of the inkjet printer because I don't think I'm printing frequently enough and I worry the ink may dry off.

I've bought Brother HL-L3230CDN laser printer and I've very satisfied with the printer.
*
Too bad then... Not all inkjet is bad. Cartridge is good for low usage and maintenance since printhead is on the cartridge (which replaced itself whenever you change ink). Ink tank is bad because of the exposed ink which tends to harden if you dont print every week. However you can easily solve this by running a schedule task in windows to print 1 color test page every week (good for office since you gonna turn on pc everyday).

Coloured Laser printer is still too expensive for mass adoption IMO.

epson.

because the epson has a removable ink e waste compartment. though it's cartridge module design with a chip that bricks it unless you reinsert a brand new ink e waste module.

however thankfully there is a way around that. so you can simply clean the sponge from the ink e waste module under the sink, then reinsert the sponge back into the cartridge then back into the module of the printer after using the hack (software counter reset)

another thing, is how you go about cleaning any potential ink blocking in the epson pipes at the front. If you go youtube, you can see demonstrations how it's done using a syringe filled with cleaning solution.

follow this guy's channel he has a lot of good youtube videos on this topic.

So after doing my research

1. easy method to remove ink e waste
2. the method to flush out blockage in the pipes is easier than other ink printers
3. price. depends what model you get
4. cost per print
5. android mobile app functionality. epson was fine in this regard especially wifi onboarding which is very smart. also easy to select document from mobile via wifi to select and print

*this does not take into account the printing speed. it would be great if it scored perfect for everything, but that usually is hard to do. so as long as it prints fine, and it's decently fast, then it doesn't have to be best in some areas for me. but from my use case of epson, the print speed for ink printer was ok for me. quality was alright i didn't have any complaints.

you can either stick to the original ink or get the cheaper non official inks when refilling. the ink refill mechanism is safe and easy as well.

to prevent clogging it's recommended to print 1 page at least once every 1 or 2 weeks if possible. or you risk the ink eventually clogging up the pipes due to infrequent usage. this is the main downside of ink printers, the potential to clog when you don't print often enough.

in older ink printers especially canon, the design was awful to the point they simply let the ink e waste spill at the bottom of the printer simply to soak in some sponge that was fitted in a bad design.

but these days the designs have improved and they have dedicated ink e waste compartments. the DIY solutions for ink e waste, where they add a bottle or some sort of container, to easily dump and reinstall it, is very effective. Refer to youtube guides for how to do that.

I think the eco tank epson's have permanent printheads unlike the normal cartridge printheads. The ecotank design also tries to reduce the problem of clogging from long periods of low usage. But its not 100% and if you don't print alot, I'd recommend a laser printer.

correct. epson ecotank print head is not user replaceable. if you check price, you have to send to epson service center if anything happen to it and it's expensive. if you send to UNOFFICIAL repair center, they may be able to fix it for between rm50-90

Ideally, for a ecotank printer you should do proper maintenance to avoid issues with ink clogging in the pipes and the printhead.

few things you can do

1. leave the printer on 24/7 Yes deep sleep mode is ok to do. the reason why, because everytime you turn on printer, it wastes ink. also with printer on, it will keep the ink flow working. also in deep sleep mode it doesn't use much power so don't worry about electricity bill.

tbh though, i read that the print head will close when you shut down the printer. but i dont know if that also does it when u do sleep mode or not. but the reason why u want it to close to print head, is to avoid clogging when not in use.

2. every 1-2 weeks print at least 1 or 2 test page to keep the ink working at bare minimum. if u dont use it at all, your risk clogging the ink printer.

3. the waste box you have to replace when it says it's full. if you get a L3550 model, software reset via unofficial app can reset the waste box if you want to reuse it. but for newer models like the l4360 they moved the chip from the printer to the waste maintenance box so the software reset does not work for that model. but there is a hardware reset though that works roughly 200 times only (not infinite resets).

Canon model they have the best print head design. because they allow user replaceable print head. so if the print head ever have an issue, you can simply buy a print head replacement and swap it yourself easily. i didn't check the price though, but it's probably cheaper than epson service center to repair that.

but one thing i did not like about canon is how they manage their ink waste. last i checked they have a sponge in the printer, and the ink leaks inside improperly. at least the epson has a waste box so it doesn't leak randomly in the printer. basically it was poorly designed for canon for how the ink waste is managed (probably intentionally).

for brother, if the ink waste is full, they expect you to send the printer to service center to clean that. that's a no go for me.

HP, don't even bother. this is the worst anti consumer brand for printers.

i like epson but

1. if you don't like the print head not being user replaceable, it's understandable if you don't want an epson because of that. totally understandable. i wish they had done what canon did in this regard but unfortunately they didn't.

2. the old model support software reset (unofficial) for waste box. newer models moved chip to waste box so that doesn't work, so have to get hardware reset or buy the epson waste box to replace.

other than those 2 things, epson is great.

also on shopee right now, not only can you use vouchers for discount, there is also a promo for tng credit to e wallet rm 150, and they give you 2 bottles of ink (there 4 ink bottles but the promo only give you 2 and it's random).

this is the model i got for myself, Epson L4360. It was released in september 2025. The older model the L3550 was released sometime around 2023 or something.

they improved some stuff, is double sided loading capability, better wifi support (still supports outdated wifi, but it now supports wpa2/wpa3)

newer though doesn't always mean better. because they move the waste box reset chip from the printer to the waste box. this may have been intentional to prevent people doing unlimited software reset so they don't have to purchase replacement waste box, and get you to buy from them continuously for this.

on the positive side, if you use the hardware resetter, at least u dont have to install a software reset that MAY or may not have malware on it. instead u tap it against the waste box to reset. u may think this is good or bad depending on ur perspective. because the hardware reset cost money and is limited to 200 resets and must be used before the waste box hits 15% and under. whereas the older model unlimited resets, free, but MIGHT contain malware (this i dont know for sure)

also the newer models use type 001 epson ink bottles. the older models use type 003 epson ink bottles. if you buy official epson ink bottles, i saw the prices were rm 30 PER bottle. If you buy from unofficial source, i saw the set of 4 bottles cost rm 50. So buy whichever you think is of value laugh.gif

ecotank can do 5000+ prints using the bottles you purchased which is good value for print cost.

QUOTE
But its not 100% and if you don't print alot,

this is true, but if you do the maintenance steps as i suggested above, it's actually a non issue. but if you don't look after the ecotank printer then ya, you are going to get a clogged printer. If you are the type of user that can't even handle simple printer care, then yeah, don't get an ink bottle printer.

You recommended laser, but did you know those laser printer tonners cost a bomb? and they only do roughly 1000 prints before needing replacements, whereas a bottle ink printer like an ecotank can do 5000 prints before needing to replace the bottled ink and it costs much less than the laser printer toners?

In terms of cost, laser printers are costly in this regard.

watch this

I have an older epson L3550 eco tank printer, so i am familiar with this.

The new model i recently ordered under promo is the epson l4360 which is a more recent model (haven't received yet so cannot provide review).

so yes i speak from some experience, and when i recommend something, usually i also put my wallet where my mouth is smile.gif

PS: a few things the newer model the L4360 did that the older L3550 didn't do

1. you no longer have to open the printer lid to access the ink bottle to top up. they made it separate

2. the lid now has a spring in it. before they didn't.

3. the paper cover now can open or close based on the control button.

4. when calibrating, you can now add the a4 paper to the scanner after it first prints out a test sheet then proceeds to ask you to add to scanner to complete the calibration. older model does not have this.

5. wifi 4 but has wpa2/wpa3 support. but the wifi is still outdated, but still better than before in this regard.

6. auto double sided printing. older model does not have this.

for canon waste box, seems the newer models they fixed the old issue. before they didn't have this instead, the ink leaked into the printer and only had some sort of cotton pad to soak the ink.

so maybe the newer canon ink bottle printers might not be a bad option as long as their ink waste management was fixed as shown in the video.

and they got the advantage of replaceable print heads which epson doesn't have hmm.gif

though seems the unofficial reset is very similar to what the newer epson maintenance box does

so they have that in common if you plan to reset and clean/reuse the maintenance box rather than buy replacement when it's full. they said the MC-G04 (which is the canon maintenance box for ink waste) was cheap. i didn't check the price.

i double checked and a comparable model to the epson l4360 by brother was the Brother DCP-T730DW. according to AI, the only cleaning method for the ink waste, is to send to the brother service center. this fact alone makes me not recommend them at all, because that is simply ridiculous rolleyes.gif

I also checked for HP,

QUOTE
HP Smart Tank 7001 does not have a user-replaceable "ink waste box" or maintenance cartridge like the Canon model; instead, it has an internal, non-customer-accessible ink collection system. When the internal ink absorber is full, the printer requires servicing by an authorized technician or HP Support.

So no, i cannot recommend HP either.

i might not be happy having to buy waste box replacements, but at least it's user replaceable and not too expensive. but having to send to service center for this is too much.

you might even say the same about the non replaceable print head on epson and that is a fair assessment, so you may skip that and go cannon instead. my thinking was as long as i take proper care it won't malfunction, and if it does wont be for a long while and i can use the cheaper third party repair shops for this rather than the official epson which charges a bomb. will be able to comment when it ever happens sweat.gif

Canon PIXMA MegaTank G4780 looks good, but the price is rm 1255 after voucher on shopee.

the epson l4360 i am getting is Rm 785 (after voucher) IN ADDITION to a tng e wallet credit cash back of Rm150.

so that is rm 635

had to pay an extra rm50 for the 4 bottles of ink from unofficial afaik (because promo only gave 2 random bottle ink, not the set of 4). so final total rm 685 spent.

ongoing costs for the epson for ink bottle set, rm50 for a set 4 of colors. and the waste box replacement part when ink waste is full (or a hardware resetter which does up to 200 resets only).

so the epson was cheaper. the only downside vs the canon i can see is the fact that the ink printhead is not user replaceable. other than that it's comparable to the canon megatank G4780 more or less.

This is what ai had to say

QUOTE
The Canon Pixma G4780 is generally faster for document printing and excels at sharp text, while the Epson EcoTank L4360 offers a higher printing resolution, faster color print speed, and potentially more durable printhead technology. Both are all-in-one, high-volume ink tank printers with Wi-Fi, automatic document feeders (ADF), and auto-duplex printing.

If you can look past the print head issue for epson (non user replaceable) the epson has a current deal on shopee now making it a much better deal than canon, hp and brother).

nod.gif

if you want to spend even less, and want access to the software reset, the epson L3550 (old model, and with NO double sided printing feature) is what you are looking for. Roughly around RM500. But with the epson discount, that newer L4360 model comes close to that price almost. But like i said before, newer doesn't always mean better because the waste box chip change in the L4360 model, seemed like a downgrade if u r sad u wont be getting the free infinite software resets for the waste box after that update in hardware rolleyes.gif

this is an example of the kind of printing you can do on an epson printer. this guy print tcg cards for example, and they look awesome thumbup.gif and if you are wondering why his says ET, that is the US model. the Malaysia model uses "L"

other things to know

QUOTE
Recent Price Trends for epson EcoTank (2026)

Subscription Price Hikes: In early 2026, Epson began pushing its ReadyPrint Max all-inclusive subscription model more aggressively. Reports indicate these subscriptions are becoming the new norm for EcoTank and are generally getting more expensive as manufacturers look to offset rising production costs through recurring revenue.

Selective Retail Increases: While some major price hikes (such as a rumored 24% increase in 2025) were previously paused due to tariff shifts, Epson has still implemented targeted increases on certain printers and consumables as recently as mid-2025.

Strategic Discounts: To maintain market share against competitors like HP, Epson has used "New Year" and "Double Festive" sales in early 2026 to offer temporary rebates on EcoTank models (e.g., L3250, L4360), which may mask an underlying increase in their standard MSRP.

so yeah the increased ram prices might also be affecting epson, but with the vouchers and promo, you can get it at a decent price, but probably not after the promo ends in a month or so. if you are looking for an ecotank you better buy soon sweat.gif

QUOTE
ReadyPrint MAX is Epson's "all-in-one" subscription service where you pay a monthly fee to lease an EcoTank printer instead of buying one upfront

i don't like this subscription service. i just outright bought mine using vouchers and under promo sweat.gif

the newer model with the replaceable e waste maintenance box seem ok. but the very old that didn't have that, that one was terrible.

This is their OLDER model for the bottle ink printer i was referring to. look at how the ink waste just leaks all over the place inside the printer. that is a bad design (probably intentional)

QUOTE
I typically spend my time reviewing tech products, but this time, I'm going to take one down, the Canon G3200 Megatank printer. There's not enough coverage on the 'net about how Canon's Megatank printers released between 2017 and 2019 are all designed to fail, and since most are still being sold, I thought it was important for me to air Canon's dirty laundry for them!

QUOTE
The Canon PIXMA G3200 Wireless MegaTank All-In-One Printer is a model generally available in North American markets, using GI-290 ink bottles. The equivalent models commonly sold in Malaysia are the Canon PIXMA G3000 or newer variants like the G3010, G3020, and G3060, which use the GI-790 ink series.

so do research before purchase. This is what i did and that's why i posted long post, may as well share what i found out from my own research laugh.gif

in fact, i think the HP and brother models where they force you to send to service center to clean the ink waste is ALSO a design to failure for their ink bottle printers shakehead.gif

odd, cause hp added a replaceable print head similar to canon, but they botched up the ink waste disposal by not adding a user replaceable waste box similar to newer canon and epson models rolleyes.gif

I saw a canon prixma 3100 on shopee being sold for rm 510 DO NOT BUY shakehead.gif

Heck, you can get a Epson L3550 for 500 or less, and not have that ink waste problem (because the epson for this old model also uses a replaceable waste box). And it also supports software reset for waste box (unofficial). Newer epson ecotanks dont support software resets sad.gif

The safe model to buy with a fixed improvement for the ink waste aka replaceable ink waste maintenance box user replaceable, is the Canon G4780 (there may be others but this one i at least confirmed). Just that i checked the price it's way more expensive than the Epson L4360. So that was the main reason i could not recommend the canon due to not being a good deal for the price.

With all the increase price of ram, i think this also affected printer prices. yet why why is epson cheaper? Maybe because they got the promo voucher and tng e wallet cash back that artificially reduced the price.

But when i asked AI what is a comparable ink printer similar to the L4360, they said it was the G4780 for canon sweat.gif

If you are rich and don't care for performing maintenance for your printer, then laser printer like brother or what other brand should work for you. The most expensive for the laser printer is the toner. they do 1000 prints and the toners cost way more than bottle ink. the epson ecotank can print 5000+ prints and the bottle ink is way cheaper e.g. bottle set of 4 colors is rm 50.

QUOTE
laser printer

pro
- low to almost zero maintenance
- Typically 20–40 pages per minute (ppm), and up to 50 ppm for some business models. Way faster than ecotank printer.

cons
- expensive high cost toner
- lower print count up to 1000 prints before needing to replace toner.
- slow start up because have to warm up toner first

QUOTE
bottle ink printers e.g. epson ecotank

pro
- low cost for bottle ink, and can last 5000+ prints before needing to be replaced. beats all alternatives in this regard

cons
- high maintenance due to ink circulating in the pipes and the print head.
- if you don't do proper maintenance especially if you don't print often like every 1-2 weeks, you risk clogging the pipes and print head, making you require a deep clean which is a big hassle, and worse case your printer is basically unusable unless you send to service repair center that cost a bomb.
- additional ongoing costs besides the ink bottles, is the ink waste maintenance box. that said, there MAY be unofficial means to reset waste box to keep reusing/self clean it yourself, depending on the printer model
- risk of printer head getting clogged. if your model does not have user replaceable print head like the epson ecotank models, sending it for repair may be costly to fix this if it ever has issues.
- Typically 5–25 ppm for most models, though some business models can reach higher speeds. Slower than laser printer

ok my new epson l4360 arrived.

apparently they did include the 4 ink set (all the colors) + 1 additional random color.

I thought they only give 2 bottle and not even the full set. seems what they meant was 4 set (all colors + 1 random bottle color ink.

voucher + tng e wallet cash back which you have to redeem. so this was an even better, i didn't have to pay the extra rm50 for the ink. guess i'll keep that for next time i need it i guess.

the power plug they give is a 2 pin prong, not the UK 3 pin power plug.... rolleyes.gif

just a reminder, when installing driver for pc u have to be careful. if you just plug connect printer, it MAY install default drivers. you don't want that. you want the epson l4360 drivers from the support website. they have an epson installer that installs their own driver. The reason why i said this, because one of the youtubes that reviewed this model, they noted that there is a difference in the drivers. if u install the wrong one, u dont get the epson feature that depends on epsons own driver from their support site. just a heads up.

so if u plan to do printing direct from windows 11 pc desktop or laptop, make sure u use epsons own installer. dont use the windows discover printer.

if you only use android printing from smartphone, then not really an issue.

just received my epson l4360. took 3 days to be delivered...

setting it up works. but the wifi... was hell to setup

to be fair, i am using a homelab setup not typical for normal users, because i use pfsense with vlan enabled. so my private network on wifi 7 (5/6 ghz) is separate from the guest network running (2.4/5ghz)

then u got the issue where my guest prefers 5ghz. But these devices prefer 2.4 like i found out for this l4360

Oddly, connecting to the guest wifi which is 2.4/5ghz works. i printed out printer network status. it works.

so i can only think that it's my vlan settings causing issues for this to work.

anyway, so i setup the wifi direct. usually wifi direct is meant for if you dont have a wifi ap to connect to. but i am using it out of desperation because the standard wifi ap connect method didn't work.

but i am glad to inform wifi direct worked no problem for both android smartphone and also desktop pc connected via wifi.

i first setup the printer using the android app guide. then use the printer screen to follow the instructions on android.

once all that was done, then i setup the wifi direct later. once that was done, i had to EXIT the windows setup app. Even if your in the middle of setting up, it advices to close it and start again if you had fix the wifi elsewhere.

Once i did that, the setup worked all the way.

then i use the epson updater app on windows, then it updated all the epson apps. Some of you may think it's bloatware, but i installed all of it sweat.gif

i tested printing via the epson android app, it works.

windows printing still testing.

*update

using solid explorer, i shared 2 pictures to the epson app, it can then print those 2, and i select auto double sided (this printer model supports that). it works.

There is a pic selector from the epson app, but i preferred using solid explorer to find the pics or documents to printer from. just multi select and share smile.gif

oo the double print, it prints the 1 page, then sucks it back to flip it, then prints on the other side. just to be perfectly clear.

windows pc did manage to connect during setup, but not working now. no idea why.

but android works. even when i switched from the guest to the wifi 7 (5/6 ghz) it still works thumbup.gif

i did the initial via 2.4ghz guest network. maybe it would have worked on the wifi7 but i cannot say for sure. but it works after the wifi direct was setup.

my usage pattern will be rarely print. so for maintenance, i will not be powering off the printer at all. instead i will allow it to go into deep sleep, and just wake it up every 1-2 weeks to print 1-2 pages to keep it from clogging.

to get it to deep sleep, by default it does so after 13 minutes idle. or you can adjust the timer in settings if u prefer, but this is fine

if you are wondering about the print head during deep sleep, it's fine

QUOTE
Yes, when the Epson EcoTank L4260 enters its deep sleep or standard sleep mode, the print head is automatically returned to its "home" or "parked" position and is sealed by a capping mechanism.

This capping action is crucial for preventing the ink in the nozzles from drying out and causing clogs. It's the same mechanism used when the printer is properly powered off via the power button. This process is why leaving your inkjet printer plugged in and using the power button to turn it off or allowing it to enter sleep mode is generally recommended, as it ensures the print head is properly protected.

so this is how u maintain the health (or more specifically to keep the ink in printer from clogging in pipes and print head) by doing what i mentioned.

thats my mini guide so far.

ooo, i did not see any wired ethernet port. doesn't matter since i was gonna be using wireless anyway. but i ended up using wifi direct, but it works, so i don't particularly. even better, it works even while i am using my wifi 7 5/6ghz connection thumbup.gif (then i dont have to toggle to guest wifi just to use printer each time).

the usb cable i didn't even bother using that. so short.... it's meant to be connect direct to the windows desktop pc or laptop. this is if you cannot rely on the wifi to connect, so you use a hard connect via the usb. i'm really not bothered using that. could get a usb female extender cable? which i am using for my speakers which also has a short usb cable, but really without it, it just works, so why bother.

for the hardware, it has a store the print out tray. u go to the printer screen ui, click store tray, and it auto does it. my thinking is, is this a feature that may wear out? doesn't seem totally necessary, just another part that may fail in future. it's nice, but not really that necessary.

i like that you can fill the ink without also lifting the lid of the main printer to do so. but in all honesty, that is not too big a deal. for example, would u mind that slight annoyance for the l3550 which sells much cheaper than this model? i could put up with that sort of downgrade, since it's not that big a deal. nice but not at the cost of a better price deal sweat.gif

i heard that the hood was spring loaded. but when i lifted to scanner lid, it was not. so be careful. you can lift it all all the way, but don't open half way and let go. it will just slam onto your printer and risk breaking the lid or glass beneath it sweat.gif

the maintenance box is easier to access. older model required a screw. this one you can just yank it open. not that big a deal tbh. some people may prefer the screw, especially if u live in earthquake prone areas like japan. but if a eq happens, your printer is the last thing you'd be worried about sweat.gif then again.....

i did prod it a bit before i setup, but now that the ink is installed, i don't really want to try open up the innards when it just works. less chance of spoiling something needlessly. it just works.

during the ink loading process that took about 15 minutes or so, and a few test printing pages. the ink used 1 bar of ink. Maybe i should top up but i'll leave as is for now. there is still more left over ink in the bottle. the black bottle is bigger than the others for obvious reasons.

at the side of the printer close to the waste box, there is a warning that you should let the ink levels to hit the LOWEST line. if you do, you risk damaging your printer. it's still a few bars high, so good for now. will be observing the levels from time to time. the LCD screen also reminds you to check the ink levels from time to time.

To wake up the printer from deep sleep, i press the physical button (home button), then it wakes it up. can you wake up from app? i dont know sweat.gif i wont be printing remotely offsite so a non issue for me.

on samsung phone one ui 8.0 you can force the wifi, mine was a 2.4/5ghz that preferred 5ghz, to force a 2.4 connection, by going to the wifi intelligience and there is a setting for 2.4 for iot setup. click that. then check using wifiman to confirm it switched to 2.4ghz band. this is usually what old wifi tend to support (unfortunately).

do that for the initial setup. when you are done, just switch back. later i tested back to guest, and the 2.4 setting was disabled (good cauz i dont want to use 2.4 unless i have to)

for placement of printer, i use a 5 stacked long shelf with thick wooden base for each level. i put it on the third level which is same height as slightly below chest in arms reach. and 1.6 meters away from my work space. with a wall fan to blow on me and a window to air during the day. perfect placement for printer smile.gif yes placement of printer matters.

and another reason why i avoided laser printers. there is a health aspect to printers people aren't aware of and setting themselves up for failure.

QUOTE
Risks of Prolonged Proximity
Having the ecotank printer at arm's reach for long periods is generally considered low-risk, provided the area is well-ventilated.

Airborne Emissions: Inkjet printers emit significantly fewer particles than laser printers, which release toner dust and higher levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Potential Symptoms: In poorly ventilated spaces, prolonged exposure to ink vapors or fine mists during high-volume printing may cause respiratory irritation, headaches, or dizziness.

QUOTE
Understanding Inkjet Printer Emissions

The Epson L4360 is an inkjet printer, which operates by spraying liquid ink onto paper. This process is inherently different from laser printers, which use dry toner powder and high heat.

Ozone and Particles: Inkjet printers do not produce ozone gas and emit significantly fewer ultrafine particles (UFPs) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) than laser printers.

Ink Solvents: The primary emissions concern with inkjets is the evaporation of solvents from the ink, which might be noticeable as a mild odor. Using certified, original Epson ink and ensuring good airflow helps to minimize any potential irritation from these fumes.

Idle Mode: When the printer is powered on but not printing, it typically enters a low-energy "sleep mode" and emissions are minimal to non-existent. The main activity during idle periods might be a periodic, brief cleaning cycle to prevent clogs.

*i can confirm the epson tng ewallet redemption is real

https://my.epson.com.my/s/my-redemption?language=en_US

after u register your warranty the epson malaysia site, there is a redeem button. click that and fill out the form.

once done it says this

QUOTE
THANK YOU.

Thank you for your recent purchase of Epson products.

Your submission of rewards has been well received and will be processed within 21 Working Days.

Once your submission is approved, your e-Voucher* will be sent to your registered email

the promo for the tng ewallet is limited. so they can run out. also, they have a MINIMUM purchase price. i paid about RM 785 after voucher but seems i still qualify. But there is a L3550 i saw going for about rm450 or so. i don't know if that qualifies at that price sweat.gif but u can ask. also obviously, you should have the tng e wallet setup ready to receive the funds if you haven't already.

warranty period only up to jan 2027 so basically 1 year .... are they not confident their product will last? lel, makes me slightly worried.

somethings i did not like.

what is this epson research? during the setup i rejected this. basically they want your info. i see no reason to give it.

then you got epson connect service. this is from the printer settings from the lcd screen. i did not use it. but i did go to their site to register warranty from there with my epson account. so what is the purpose of this epson connect service that claims my device is not registered? what is it for? felt like spyware or something, so i didn't do anything with it. it asks you to connect to the epson connect service, and email etc. seems unnecessary? maybe i misunderstood. i'll look into it later.

*update

found out. the epson connect is their cloud feaature. meaning you can do printing online from anywhere via epsons cloud connect feature. i don't need that. don't trust the cloud infra especially for printing sensitive documents.

just an update on the epson promo

apparently the tng e wallet amount differs also for the model

rm150 is the highest for the promo, which the l4360 i bought qualified for.

L4360/L4366 = RM150 (recommended promo price range - )

L3250/L3256 = RM70 (recommended promo price range, RM 550 - RM 609 )

L3210/L3216 = RM70 (recommended promo price range, RM 490 - RM 539 )

The last day to redeem Reward is 14 April 2026, or until Rewards are fully redeemed, whichever is earlier.

there are other rules, you can read it yourself, they posted a pdf on this promo to redeem sweat.gif

afaik the other brands not giving offers like this and the price for the canon i mention for the epson equivalent was so much higher sweat.gif

why are they doing this promo? maybe they trying get rid of old stock, and also not many people beside smb willing to pay more than 500 for a printer these days sweat.gif tbh even i felt uneasy spending this much for a printer, but i'm a bit picky for tech hardware. maybe i'll try use it more. the only saving grace, i got it closer to the cheaper eco tank model so i don't feel too bad about it. i mostly bought it for work, not for recreation laugh.gif

some more updates for the epson l4360

The front print out panel (output tray) on the Epson EcoTank L4360 printer opens automatically when a print job is initiated, and there is no dedicated function on the LCD screen to open it. However, the tray can be manually pushed back in or stored using an on-screen option when printing is complete.

so basically let it auto do it. don't manually yank it open like i did laugh.gif it felt slightly forced, so best not to do that.

when u r done printing, just use the printer lcd screen select the close the print out lid. done.

and how to use the settings to unclog the printer if you didn't maintain it well or notice issues

how to replace maintenance box officially

haven't experienced this yet, but how to fix a paper jam

good review for the L4360 (aka et-2980 in US market). he missed out on some of the stuff i mentioned e.g. about the waste box chip changes from old to the newer models among other things but still a decent review

via the android app, you can also access the admin settings. it brought me to the printer url. the password is your serial number. this password can be changed later by you. if you ever forget the password, you can simply reset the printer.

to get the wifi direct ssid and password, go to your physical printer, browse to settings > network > go to printer status. then HOLD the "I" bottom right button on printer for 7 seconds. it will then begin printing it.

It's basically sort of hidden unless u check the manual or ask google ai how.

yes i successfully connected to the epson wifi direct. i'm using wifi for internet, so when i do this no internet. just saying.

then the print queue i had on windows 11, it printed. done. works.

it's a shame i couldn't get the regulaar wifi network to work, only wifi direct, but like i said the issue might be my more complicated vlan setup or something that may be breaking connectivity somewhere.

but wifi direct works.

seems for android u can keep access to internet while using the wifi direct apparently. but for windows 11 pc, doesn't seem to be the case? afaik

and i checked and apparently though it's wifi 4, it is using the newest wpa3 wireless security standard.

QUOTE
Yes, Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) can support WPA3, but it is not a standard feature. Support depends entirely on whether the device manufacturer has provided specific hardware capabilities and firmware updates.

QUOTE
Key Requirements for Wi-Fi 4 & WPA3

Hardware Capability: The Wi-Fi chip must support Protected Management Frames (PMF/802.11w), which is a mandatory requirement for WPA3. Many older Wi-Fi 4 chips do not have this feature.

Manufacturer Support: Some modern Wi-Fi 4 solutions, like the Infineon CYW43439, are specifically designed to bring WPA3 to IoT devices that don't need the speed of Wi-Fi 6.

Software Updates: For older Wi-Fi 4 laptops or routers, WPA3 support can sometimes be added via a firmware or driver update, provided the underlying hardware can handle the new encryption methods (SAE).

so when it comes to this epson l4360, though it's still stuck on older wifi 4, but for printing it's more than enough.

paper feeder supports 100 papers max, some people may not like that and feel it's too little when other printers may offer better paper feeders that allow much more. but for casual low printing volume, it's fine.

i dont have an apple device so couldnt test airprint, but i did confirm this model has Mopria support.

QUOTE
Mopria is a universal printing standard that allows you to print or scan wirelessly from Android and Windows devices to over 120 million certified printers without needing to download individual brand-specific apps or drivers.

for the epson in the US market, there were reports that they were rolling out newer models recently.

but when i check for malaysia, the L4360 was released in September 2025. so it's more or less new. There is a L4366 but basically thats just the white color variant with same specs.

so for malaysian market, this is more or lest their new model in this tier category.

you can go check yourself

https://www.epson.com.my/home-and-home-office-printers

seems the promo was only for that l3210 or l3250 but i did not see L3550 mentioned.

QUOTE
The Epson EcoTank L3550 is a newer, faster, and more durable, higher-yield (6,600 pages black) successor to the L3250. It features an upgraded PrecisionCore printhead for better performance, whereas the Epson L3250 offers slightly higher, though less efficient, print resolution. The L3550 is better for higher-volume, faster, and more reliable printing.

Key Differences and Comparison:

Performance & Speed: The L3550 (15 ipm mono / 8 ipm color) is significantly faster than the L3250 (10 ipm mono / 5 ipm color).
Ink Yield & Economy: The L3550 provides higher page yields (6,600 black / 5,900 color) compared to the L3250's 4,500 black pages.

Print Quality: The L3250 has a maximum resolution of
    , while the L3550 has
    .
Design & Durability: The L3550 has an improved mechanical design for longer product life and supports a 3-year warranty (after registration), compared to typically 2 years for the L3250.

Maintenance: The L3550 includes a user-replaceable maintenance box, making it easier to maintain over time.
Connectivity: Both printers offer Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct, but the L3550 generally supports newer mobile printing standards like AirPrint and Mopria.

Verdict
Choose the L3550 for higher productivity, faster, more reliable, and economical long-term printing. Choose the L3250 if you require a lower initial purchase price and do not need high-speed, high-volume, or frequent photo printing

so this fits my speculation, the promo was to sell off their old stock (e.g. l3210 and l3250) which was why l3550 was not mentioned in the promo.

and why the newer l4360 was included (because not many will spend that much for an ecotank normally unless you are smb. and EVEN THEN, smb will probably be buying a laser printer for speed and volume. they probably dont care about toner costs and fewer prints).

anyway i apologize if i was talking about epson, and their promo. this is not sponsored. just sharing my review and research i did when i was deciding whether to get an ecotank or not in 2026 for my work. so felt like a waste not to share.

if you have other brands or want to share your own reviews and research, plz do. i'm also curious whether the grass is greener on the other side.

but from what i can see, for bottle ink printers e.g. like ecotank, the other brands like hp and brother had too big a flaw to even bother looking at. and the canon for a similar model to the l4360 which i bought cost way more than the epson. that was my overall analysis for the current market sweat.gif

i'm assuming maybe the canon prices few months back before was cheaper, but they priced in the increased ram costs? or were they always this expensive vs epson ? hmm.gif
