I would appreciate if folks who have installed Huper Optik Sech60 on the front windscreen and C40 for the rest of the sides and rear windscreens could share your ecperience if you have switched to another tint on the same or different vehicle.

Are there other tints which outperform the heat rejection performance of the Sech60/C40. Although the VLT of the Sech60 is 59% which is below the permissible 70% set by the government, in my experience the heat rejection property is inferior to the V-Kool Elite with VLT 71% if my memory doesn't fail me.

I am guessing there is no measuring device to measure and compare the TSER or SHGC which are claimed to be the top 2 properties which affect heat rejection of tints despite all the nice numbers published on the spec or paper of manufacturers? If that is the case I presume we would have to rely on real life experiences or impressions of owners without any measuring tools involved.

I have only noticed JPJ officers measuring the VLT of vehicles with a hand-held device in the news on TV lately after our Transport Minister announced the new ruling of tinting on vehicles. However, I am not aware if there is a similar hand-held device to measure the TSER or SHGC values of a tint.

If focusing on the front windscreen, is there a tint with VLT70% or higher which outperform the Huper Optik Sech60? In my experience, the Sech60 is fairly good when new (spectacularly outstanding) in terms of rejecting heat from the sun although the VLT of 59% is on the low side. However, I find the performance to deteriorate quicker than V-Kool. Deterioration starts around 2 to 3 years and after 5 years it feels like there is no tint on the car. With V-Kool Elite the tint still performs admirably with little drop in performance after 5 years on my older car.

Seeking experiences from owners who have used Huper Optik Sech60 and C40 so that I have a benchmark on what to expect. Thoughts would be appreciated.

Another question for folks who have got caught in a road block by JPJ or police whereby the officers measured the VLT of the tint on your vehicle and found that they are not in compliance. Do they issue summons on the spot or they require you to go to Puspakom to have the tint reinspected and removed?

It is interesting that even though the VLT for front and side windscreens are 70% and 50% respectively, I cannot see through the windows of some vehicles, even for the front and sides. Seems like those vehicles have 10% or 20% VLT tint on the front and sides.

I am also interested to know what will happen during a road block when officers check on the tint. Similarly I have seen vehicles which are heavily tinted on the front and side windscreens. These are actually not VIP vehicles which may be exempted from JPJ's regulations with regard to permissible VLT but cheap cars such as Proton Saga, Myvi to Vios and premium cars such as BMW. It is not 10 or 20% VLT but more like 0% VLT for the front side windscreens where the driver and front passenger are sitting. There are actually quite many of these vehicles with heavily tinted windows which I see almost everyday. For the front, seems like I can't see through the windscreen of some vehicles and I'm not sure what type of tint are those and whether they are reflective type whereby the driver can see through the front windscreen but people outside the vehicle cannot see through the windscreen.

Seems like the low enforcement by the authorities may have caused people to happily tint their vehicles very dark, way below the permissible limit allowed by the Authority.

I have a Vios installed with HO Sech60 for the whole car in 2013 and a CRV installed with HO C70 on the FWS and Sech60 for the rest of the car in 2014.
HO is not as good as VKool on heat rejection. That’s why the price difference.
Heat rejection is better on Sech60 as compared with the C70 on the FWS.
Heat rejection is still effective until today. Can feel the difference when open the window.

VKool film oxidised on the RWS after 4 years. Can claim warranty on the film. But they cannot guarantee the demister will not spoil when they remove the film. I did not submit the warranty claim.
Sold the car after 6 years.
Not sure VKool has improved on their new films.

Thanks for the response. My previous Nissan Sylphy was on V-Kool Elite complete package for the whole car from 2007 to 2013 and no issues with oxidation throughout the 5+ years of ownership until I sold the car. I can surely vouch for the superior heat rejection of the car as it feels a lot cooler than Huper Optik. Only the disadvantages mentioned earlier spoil it a little (issue with GPS navigation and auto gate remote) apart from the higher pricing. The V-Kool package came together with the car when I bought it from Nissan Tan Chong and the price was quoted at RM3,600 if i am not mistaken though i suspect outside installers may be charging lower at RM2k+.

Huper Optik C70 is inferior to the Sech60 as the TSER is lower. If you haven't tried V-Kool.you will regard HO as adequate. I switched from V-Kool to HO Sech60/C40 and it was a downgrade in heat rejection performance. The only upgrade I got with HO is every single electronic device which transmits signal or electromagnetic waves, and I mean everything, work on the Huper Optik.

For my next vehicle, Huper Optik is definitely out of consideration for the front windscreen, that is for sure. Will likely go back to V-Kool highest spec with VLT > 70% unless there is someone who says that something else has better heat rejection(and better still at a lower price) than the V-Kool. Hafiez recommended Raytech but I'm not sure.

With the new regulation of 0% VLT for rear and side rear, I may still consider Huper Optik highest spec which is the C20 (VLT 21% if guessed it right). It is just the front windscreen whereby I need to get a really good one.

By the way, the VLT of Huper Optik Sech60 is 59% so if enforcement is rampant, cars installed with this tint will get into trouble with the authorities. Touch would my vehicle which is almost 6 years with the Sech60 hasn't met with any road block. It is not surprising some motorists dare to tint the windows of their vehicles with a considerably dark tint since enforcement seems to be non-existent.

With the new tint ruling coming into effect, I suspect the authorities may start to carry out road blocks soon. Only the Sech60 and C40 on the front and side front windscreens of my vehicle are not in compliance but since they are close to ineffective, I wouldn't mind if they tear down the tints on the spot. I was just wondering if summons would be issued though.

Yes, the main decision is on the FWS.

Have to scarify something, want high rejection on this and that, gadgets cannot work.

My installer cover JPJ summons on the FWS with Sech60 installed before 2014. After 2014, doesn’t cover JPJ summons. That’s why my CRV has to use C70 film on the FWS.

Touch wood, hopefully don’t kena.

My ride was on full HO Ceramic 40 since 2012, first few years it was good. But can feel the performance degrade year after year.
I am in the midst to replace the engine, so i take this opportunity to remove all tinted, and re-tint again after the inspection.

After did some survey and comparison, end up I will still go back to HO in the consideration of pricing, performance, VLT, and compatibility of devices.

I did some comparison between the main 3 brands, Vkool, 3M and HO.

VKool has the best heat rejection performance, yet also the most expensive. Some users also feedback facing problem with phone signal, GPS, smart tag bla bla bla...

3M heat rejection performance and pricing suit my requirement, however my friend who having 3M on his ride, complaining the same as GPS and smart tag issue. Installer even warned me that the film will have discolor issue few years later.

HO may not be the best performance, but yet the cheapest among the three, and device friendly. This balance up my requirement.

After you removed all the tint films, will it spoil the demister on the RWS?

I removed all tinted except the RWS. Will only remove when send in for new tinted after the inspection.
As usual, shop can't give guarantee on the demister.

Because of the demister, I am reluctant to retint my car.
How much does it cost to tint the whole car now?
What vlt you’ll get now?

You are very brave on your decision for the front.
Now the ministry has come out with a guide line, they will go all out to check on the vlt on our vehicles.

Luck is on your side.

Do you have issues with Smart Tag, GPS and auto gate remote on both tints?

Thanks for your reply.
I am surprised that some VKool users have problem with Smart Tag.

Is your car C-segment or D-segment? Back in 2013, it costs RM1,550 to do an entire C-segment car with Huper Optik Sech60 for front windscreen and C40 for the rest of the windscreens.

For front windscreen, the TSER value between C40 and Sech60 is very close, just a 1% difference. But Sech60 VLT at 59% is higher than the C40 VLT which is at 42%. It is risky to use C40 on the front windscreen as the VLT is low at 42%, and since there isn't much difference in TSER between C40 and Sech60, personally there isn't much sense using C40 for the front windscreen when you can opt for Sech60. Am I missing something?

I can surely agree on the rather low cost of tint and trouble-free Smart Tag, GPS device or other electronic devices with Huper Optik. Hence, as I mentioned earlier, I may still go with Huper Optik but not for the front windscreen as the Sech60 which is the highest spec but still low VLT of 59% is still inferior in terms of heat rejection when compared to the competitor.

My ideal setup:-

Front windscreen : V-Kool or other brand of highest spec tint with high TSER with minimum VLT 70%
Front side windscreen : Huper Optik Sech60 (VLT 59%, TSER 54%)
Front rear windscreen : Huper Optik C20 (VLT 21%, TSER 67%))
Rear windscreen : Huper Optik C20 (VLT 21% , TSER 67%)

For me, the front windscreen is the most important as the sunlight will penetrate right in front of you, so no compromise here. At least you can still install sun shades to the side windscreens but there is nothing you can do for the front windscreen where most of the sunlight will be coming from.

If combining V-kool and Huper Optik on a vehicle, I am guessing that all electronic devices will work too. It's only when you tint all the windows with V-kool then you will have problems with 1 or 2 devices.

The Tables below taken from Huper Optik website. You can compare on the VLT and TSER of the C40 and Sech60. The difference in TSER between C40 and Sech60 is 1% which is negligible.

You can wind down the windows, but if your front windscreen is too dark, the JPJ will stop your car and when he noticed that the side windows are all down, he may ask you to get the windscreen up.

For me, I will take the reverse of your setup.
All windows and RWS on VKool while the FWS on HO C70.
Smart Tag, GPS and auto gate remote depend on the FWS tint. Don’t think windows affect the gadgets.

I used V-kool Elite for entire car before. I don't have problem with Smart Tag. Only GPS and auto remote.

For me, front windscreen is most important and the highest spec tint which can reject the heat from the sun must be placed here, at least in my book. Hence I don't think I can settle with Huper Optik C70 for the front windscreen when it is already inferior to the Sech60 which in my mind is worse than V-Kool.

Will see how it goes.

You are correct that FWS should have the best rejection tint but I don’t want to have issues with the gadgets.
I will sacrifice the heat rejection for the gadgets usability.
Maybe have to look at other brands that has high TSER and medium IRR with VLT of 70%.
This will have high heat rejection and can use all the gadgets that complys to JPJ rules.

I have been using VKool elite in most if not all the cars before this, and very happy with it, especially the heat rejection. So far no issue on smart tag (but RFID will be a problem), however having problem on my housing estate access card (perhaps bloody developer giving low grade system, it's a passive system)

Due to having issue with my area access card, after checking with few tinting brand, i went for Raytech, think RX series. To be honest, i am disappointed with the heat rejection, nothing bad but it was then demonstrating how good it is but when in real life using it, nothing compare VKool.

My another car of CX5, it comes with Mazda tinting (Konica or something) so i leave with it as feeling it's a waste if peel off and install a new one. Again, heat rejection is disappointed. Very tempting to change it

So, my next car will surely go back to VKool as it is proven, at least for my case. My wife also having the same thought, VKool it is for our next car(s) liao brows.gif

Do you have issue with GPS (Waze) on your VKool?

Similarly I used V-Kool and went for Raytech for my wife's car but the heat rejection was inferior compared to V-kool. You can easily feel the difference when you sit inside the car and switch the air-conditioner on for the first few minutes. I can barely feel the heat inside the car with the V-kool tint whereas with the other vehicle on Raytech, I can feel the burning heat on my face when body when I enter the vehicle and even with the air-conditioner switched on for the first few minutes.

There are many other types of tint in the market that are claimed to be excellent but as Antzfield and Sportyhandling mentioned, once you tried a proven and good tint and experienced something worse, it is wise to go back to the proven one which in this case is V-kool because you won't know how the other brand of tint will compare unless you have installed it on your car and live with it for few weeks or months. Unless you have plenty of money to change tint in every year then that's a different story but once you have spent the money, I would expect to live with the tint up to 5 years if not more.

It is surely not the best signal if compare to say Raytech or Mazda, but no major issue so far, i am not complaining but good heat rejection the priority nod.gif

Yes, indeed. I was hesitating in the beginning to switch to something else, if not because of the home access card issue i would have stick with VKool.

During the presentation, the Raytech sales personnel by using the spotlight to test the heat rejection of the Raytech then, i was really impressed. Somehow, when in real life, it is just disappointing, thought it was me but my wife feel the same too. Raytech is a good product but VKool better in my personal opinion.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

its hard for me to provide feedback as my Sech60 (FWS only) is on my Iswara
my gt86 is on C40 FWS and C30 on everything else.

i never tried vkool nor am i interested as i am satisfied with my tint performances.

gt86 has been tinted since December 2017 or January 2018.
Iswara Sech60 FWS between 6-7 years already

Sech does contain metallic contents similar to vkool, so it can have better TSER while maintaining higher VLT
C is mainly Ceramic based.

I've used pyrometer to check out my glasses/tint temps during hot sun/afternoon, and it does get between 40-50c LOL
but the cabin certainly doesn't felt as hot and aircond cools the cabin down fairly quickly.

i can't say much about degradation as my C40/C30 are still fairly new, however the Sech on my Iswara seems to still perform and i didn't really notice much degradation. then again its been so long already i also kinda forgotten how Sech60 was like when new.

One thing though, Huper tints tend to lighten up (at least visibly) over time and my Iswara does look as if it didn't have tint on the FWS, and similarly on the 86 where the first few months it looks as if the car is totally blackened out while these days its fairly visible from the outside and maybe why i've (touch wood) yet to face troubles with road blocks. (and yes i've been through numerous already lol)

For FWS ultimate cooling sensation, go for Vkool elite, the ONLY choice.
HO Sech60 not on the same par in terms of heat rejection and longevity.

Yes, that's my experience as well. Not buying new cars yet so no chance to consider Vkool

Sech60 fws
C40 front sides
C30 rear sides, rws

First time using tint, difference is huge. Never tried vkool so cannot compare. But the car is not that hot few hours in the sun and cools down pretty quickly after a few minutes. Ac now can be on min (1) or 2 instead of all time max (4) before tinting.

Waja, 1.9k done in oct2020.

P.s. the sech60 affects the rfid tag (touch n go rfid). So you cannot have the tag on your fws, it has be on the headlamp. Tried and tested with the meter with installer, nowhere on the fws (outside) can the tag be placed and detected. Put on headlamp, all system good. Suspecting the metal content to interfere with the tag
