In the market for a SUV.

Anyone here owns one of these?

Any feedback on this model?

Seems quite a nice car, day before yesterday saw one at a used car dealer. Looked quite nice and well taken care off.
It was a 2017, Sorento 2.2d with 87000km and seemed quite a decent spec.

Went to test drive a new one that was a diesel, alas it has had a facelift and presumably a totally different car. Enquired with the service dept about that unit I saw, was told still under warranty.

Today went back to the dealer, it had been sold. Was told by the dealer usually the diesel model always very fast will sell and seldom on the market.

Any particular reason this one doesn't seem to have bad resale value? Was hoping the resale value would be lower since I want to buy a 2nd hand one.

Interested in feedback, not too interested in comments such as it has low RV, general statements such as parts are very expensive etc are of no value unless it is followed with clear and precise examples.

Since it was sold there isn't much to discuss about now.

Sorento 2.2D is quite a decent car to own because Kia/Hyundai group has better diesel engine than their own petrol units. Most car buyers (in this SUV segment) in Korea itself normally buy diesel cars due to the good amount of torque and frugal on fuel.

If you don't need the 7 seats, the FL sportage 2.0D (but 2WD) is also a very decent car to buy, some more with discount now. But I must say for the mid size 5 seaters SUV, petrol units are also ok as the car is much lighter.

All 7 seats SUV weight at least 1.9-2.0 ton, so petrol turbo or diesel turbo is preferred.

I do own the pre-FL Sportage 2.0d, definitely a good deal as it is value for money considering the spec and 400nm of torque is difficult to argue with.

Agreed their diesels are better than their petrols.

I was surprised it sold so quickly since the market sentiment is this is an unloved car. Thought could bargain it down till it was a really good deal.

Oh well that’s just the way it goes, saw a few others but petrol ones which I’m not keen on.
