honestly if you want your hamster to have a nice living environment, you should just spend RM20+ and buy it a tank. That'll solve all your problems. smile.gif

rclxm9.gif yeay! i'm so happy today..my mama bubuye just gave birth last nite.luckily i already have xperience how to handle this kind of situation..thanx to all for giving lots of tips last time..ngee...i still dun have a chance to count how many pups ler...the mama put all the pups inside the toilet(haha..the one that i bought from rena)..no wonder lately she was so garang to papa even though the papa just want to sleep beside her...and she also love to sleep beside the mushroom bottle with her stomach touching the bottle....but i have one problem ler...how to make sure that the ants did not come near by the cage?currently i just put a bit water surrounding the cages..is there any other alternative?hurm..last nite..before i seperate the papa..i saw papa helping mama to collect the bedding and put inside the toilet..why did they do that?but i am to afraid to just leave papa with mama and pups so,now i put papa with the 'gangsters robos'...so pening because if i have 3 gangs of robos-the gangsters(BABY the CLUMZY robos is the chief with 3 other 4 month old pups), the nerd(MIRMO and NEMO), and the oldies(papa and mama).. doh.gif
*
hahah congratulation, the male was just probably helping to prepare the nest. =) By right robo male can help raise the pups but the problem you'll face is what if they mate again before your current pups mature... so separating like what you did is the best. all the best!

guys, any recommendations for a wheel that doesn't squeak on high speed? smile.gif

Most silent wheels in pet shops will do. I've seen a few in PW 1U. They use ball bearings if I'm not mistaken.

can i ask you guys what happens if normally a hamster sleeps most of the time eh??
i think this is just a baby hamster like 6 months old like that...
can someone tell me what's goin on??
*
btw, 6 months old = no baby. It's almost like a 30 year adult human already.

hello hamster's lovers smile.gif
just i'm having a problem with my two winter white females hamster.. one of them keep bitting and fighting the other one, i thought that they may just fight for fun or something like female fight but not a cat fight.. and 2day i just noticed a little injury (alittle blood near to her behind) on one of them and i'm not really sure what to do sad.gif
so for the moment i isolated the bad girl in another cage.. so what should i do ? any way to make them accepting each other sad.gif

If you read the first page, you'll notice that most of us do no encourage having hamsters living together in a group. Especially winter whites, syrian and RC because they're solitary by nature. If they can't get along, separate them. No other choice.

Hey everybody, I'm thinking of keep hamster and have some question would like to ask. I saw among some of you all have 2 hamsters while the guide says that only one hamster for one cage. Also, when it comes to cleaning the tank or cage, can I like buy one some kind of ball or like car specially design for hamster and put it inside while cleaning the tank or cage? I mean like let it roam around the house then when the cage is cleaned then I put back in.

Ok, last one can anybody give me a must-buy list for starting a cage for a hamster? Thanks a lot!

Cheers!

It is okay to put 2 hamster together but really, not advisable at all because they might fight and kill each other before you even have the chance to separate them. Hamsters are solitary and they do not get lonely, so it's 100% okay to let them live alone and they'll still be happy if you give them enough space, food and care. You can choose to buy those kinda sphere to put your hamster in it. But what I do is put my hamster in a small box. Sometimes I would put it in a smaller tank and let it sand bath while I clean its cage. I'm using Habitrail mini... However, it's actually better if you buy a tank for your hamster. Tanks are safer as your hamster won't simply try to climb the bars up and down or injure itself in anyway. It's easier to clean as well compared to a tank. Save you loads of time.

Well for starters i personally recommend delikate snowy SAND BATH.. don't buy dust bath.. those are mostly for chinchillas. You can buy the small one first to try then move on the the bigger pack next time.

nobody is trying to make an issue here. We're just curious.. cause if his hamster is really hissing I wanna go take a video of it and make myself famous for that 'discovery'. biggrin.gif
