We have to agree that no any one manufacturers for anything is free from fault in the world. We humans are not perfect in the first hand. If you were to look in the issue deep enough, you will know that how the administration of a company, how effective it is in manufacturing, also adding some external factors like it is No.2 car brand, it is pushing GM to the cliff, will affect the general public's view on a Brand.
To me and many others, even if we seen 10 more or 20 more flooded Toyota, but it will not budge our decision to other cars like Proton. Why is that? like in computers, Dell is a really well known brand to make them a No.2, although its built and quality isn't really make them deserve the praising, but what makes Dell still favorable today?
When the public is making negative comments on a company regardless of the truth behind, its time for that company to contemplate on the reasons. If someone really want general public to change their impression towards Proton, he should make those Proton CEOs to really think some realistic actions.
Brand name and how the public first think of it - is the most powerful weapon in business world after all. Proton failed at its branding - thus it will fail entirely in their business.
