QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Mar 25 2021, 10:31 PM) max wait time? if you want a long lasting laptop, business laptop is for you instead of gaming laptop... What's the lifespan of a gaming laptop these days? I'm talking before the hinge crack or components fail over a business laptop.

Budget 10k Need in 1-2 weeks. Looking at Alienware m17 R4 with 3070 & 5 Years warranty.
Worth it? Also should I upgrade to 3080 with top up 1k?

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Mar 27 2021, 07:17 PM) erm AW is luxury category, so if you not looking for best bang for buck then can buy I'm considering AW because Dell's after-sales service is very similar or better than Apple. What other models would come to your mind with this budget?

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Mar 27 2021, 07:21 PM) there aren't much options to choose from now is aftersales your main priority? It's going to be my main comp. Can't afford downtime more than 24 hours. I tried Illegear previously but dislike the build quality.

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Mar 27 2021, 07:27 PM) i see, there's no major flaws with the latest m17, only thing to note is the RAM is fully soldered - if RAM faulty, whole mobo needs to be replaced (RAM repair service available from 3rd party shops but I don't recommend that) The RAM is an extra 400 for 32GB. Price more or less the same as buying parts and fitting in yourself. My question would be - Is the RM 1k for RTX 3080 worthy?

QUOTE(JohnKekHow @ Mar 27 2021, 07:35 PM) yeah me too is suffering with Illeagear horrible keyboard...now using externally connected keyboard as main usage Haha yeah. Illegear is those who go for pure specs. Nothing wrong as it's usually best bang for bucks. QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Mar 27 2021, 08:01 PM) If you need the extra performance and VRAM then yes - if it follows previous gen TGP, the 3080 would be 150W variant Noted & Thanks!

Just got off Dell support. Need 30-45 days turnaround time due to parts shortage. Also picked up rumors of incoming Ryzen + RTX Alienware laptops with "R5" name.

QUOTE(hyperyouth_firepower @ Mar 30 2021, 02:31 PM) Might be a good time to wait. Though, the last time Dell did an AMD+AMD laptop (cpu and gpu), that one was a mess because of the really poor heatsink design by Dell. Otherwise it could have been a good buy because it was cheap and could give 2060 laptops a good run for the money. If you want the absolute best, I think going with the 3080 Alienware would be a better choice (though I'm not sure why Alienware gimps out on the VRAM limiting it to 8GB, instead of 16GB that other manufacturers give. And the Intel based Alienwares have access to both Thunderbolt 3, and AGA (Alienware Graphics Adapter), so expansion for eGPU is already there. However, as @ZM Fong correctly pointed it out, Alienware is a luxury item. No longer looking at this. Just bought Alienware Desktop with RTX 3080.

QUOTE(JohnKekHow @ Mar 30 2021, 03:31 PM) Alienware Aurora Desktop bro? Yes. Can refer to Nvidia thread. I was looking at laptop because of crazy RTX 3080 desktop prices. Thank god Dell is still sane.
